  • I saw a Muse show here on Youtube yesterday... it was far more superficial and far less inspiring than this is. Radiohead is maybe the only band that I would pay 70$ to see live.

  • 4:14

  • Acoustic version > Studio version > Live version (the song is amazing, but the entire band live version... i think is poor trial)

  • I wish they would come to Boston... :(

  • I got floor tickets for 2012!! I am literally freaking the fuck out daily

  • Thom's got quite the pants.

  • THOM'S GUITAR?

  • @ILAN2187 I saw them in leeds on mdma and I assure you it was one of the best things that ever happened to me

  • He wants to do just as 'Muse'. But unfortunately,he will never be able to become a 'Muse'.. So sad for him....!! :@ :@

  • @nnavish lol too bad Muse came 10 years after Radiohead and is heavily influenced by Radiohead, not the other way around, so sad for him he (Matt Bellamy) has no original talent

  • @Kemordia Hey fool, where do u get ur fucking infos??? Keep it for urself..

  • @nnavish Radiohead put out their first three albums, "Pablo Honey," "The Bends," and "OK Computer" in 1993,1995 and 1997. This was before muse had released their very first album. Muse released their first album, "Showbiz" in 1999, after Radiohead already had three, almost four albums under their belt. Matt Bellamy, Muse's singer said "Radiohead at the time of 'The Bends' were doing new things with guitar music that it's hard not to be influenced by."

  • @nnavish that was an off time shame by yourself?i´m sorry for you and Bellamy

  • I am born again nah nah nah

  • i can't believe they can do this song live so damn well

  • this is my top favorite radiohead song for sure.

  • I MIGLIORI AL MONDO

  • this song really did mark a born again radiohead. it also marked the second coming of christ ~ "i am back to save the universe"

all hail radiohead! the saviours of music.

  • When Thom let's out that painful scream near the end, I feel something pierce through my soul, amazing..

  • Es el primer concierto que veo en el que Colin se Prende y siente las rolas bien chingón, porque usualmente el esta quieto y tranquilito en su lugar!!

    RADIOHEAD!!!

  • Colin deserves more recognition

  • 0:29 i like the way John bangin the head...

  • Thom looks like a far right oi punk vocalist in this video...Weird look...

  • this is like the perfect song

  • my favourite song ever.

  • Airbag saved my life too.....thx Airbag ^_^

  • I Like Thom's Jacket

  • Colin's bass line is SO good!

  • Chissa cosa si era preso! :)

  • thom looked super cool at the beginning

  • good, but the pyramid song sounds better.

  • probably my favorite Radiohead song of all time

no matter what kind of bullshit is going on in life

    this song...

always fades everything else to the back..

  • damn, Phil is one hell of a drummer

  • YEEEEAHH!!

  • Probably best Radiohead song and this Eurockeennes gig is probably best one too. anyone agrees?

  • i can never chose favorites with radiohead because i like everything except some pablo honey stuff. same with best gigs they all have their own energy but all are great in different ways. i slightly prefer gigs they did in 2002-2003 though i don't know why

  • This song is really something else... .

  • i passed out during this song!! i was on some psychedelics and it was absolutely euphoric

  • u sloppy bastard!!!!

  • @damndirtyRob WeLL said.. He's just a gay..!!!

He wants to become like 'Muse'.... But he'll never be able..!!! :))

  • @nnavish ...you make somewhere between little and no sense

  • @sivaband

And you were only 4, how impressive!

  • @LinusVanPelt111 during this song at their Vancouver gig in August 2008, lest there be any confusion.

  • @sivaband DRUGS ARE BAD

  • @sivaband you were 6? lol

  • @jestoon425 i meant at radioheads gig in Vancouver, August 2008

  • the bass parts make this song

  • that and the sick drumming.

  • you rigth...

  • the best band of the world...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Valgarv100 you are so right

  • @Valgarv100 the World?! their the best in The universe!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Valgarv100 what about genesis

  • @Valgarv100 good band but not the best

  • @ILAN2187 you obviously didn't listen to most of their song, and the best is that they're better live!

  • @ilikeredandblack i dont have to listen all their songs genesis r the best band in the world you must admit

  • I like how Phil drums - he looks like he's concentrating so intensely.

  • aha i thought i was the only one who noticed that, no matter wat gig im watching

  • Thom's letting the music control him. looks strange a bit, because of his ptosis, but he isn't on drugs.

  • whats ptosis??

  • Heh heh heh... Thom was in the midst of his "I'm a jerk, I'm a punk" phase. Oh, the memories.

  • Colins really getting into it around 2:03 but he would be, I know that this is his personal favourite radiohead bass line

  • I'm trying to think of a better description than "rock gods" but for the life of me nothing is coming. It like they're biologically incapable of givng any vestage of a f#$k. Where most people would give a f#$k they fill the chalice of rock and drink deep.

  • 4:14 is awsim!

is this concert available on dvd?

  • 2:25 XD

  • this song grabs contemporary pop artists by the hair and ass rapes them into a black hole in which the only sound they can hear is Kid A being played at 100000 miles per hour, turning their every body cell into pure energy :P

  • well said

  • Like the metophors there, excellent!, by the way what an awesome version of this classic track.

  • I have the original Airbag/How Am I Driving? ha ha ha

  • so do i :]

  • same.

got it the day it came out.

now i wanna listen to it again. thanks! :)

  • What does Johnny has on his right arm?

  • I think protection thingy, he hurt his arm cause he played so fast :P

  • ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

  • Thom is counter-headbangers x). Metal headbangers shake head and down or round and round Thom shakes his sideways, maybe he is doing methronome? :). These guys are great ;)

  • and jonny bends over... strangely

  • one of those songs that is hard yet retains its beauty all at the same time

  • Ethereal. A brilliant mix between King Crimson and Pink Floyd.

  • they weren't influenced by pink floyd. theyve said that in interviews. theyre influenced by dub and electronic as well as 80's college rock. they do resemble pink floyd a lot though.

  • I think this is the best performance of Airbag available on YouTube, I'm blown away every time...

  • Man check Jools holland performance, its better

  • oh my god, that jazzmaster totally rocks!!

  • love thom at 2:50 gettin his little grove on ;)

  • i love this version

  • The basic riff for this song, very very basic, is, in tabs

    0-1-8-7-9-5

Works on any string, I haven't played it in ages so don't kill me if it's wrong :S

  • I think the choking noises is just taking the piss. This is when he was getting sick of playing live, isn't it?

  • Nha, he got sick of it in 98ish.

  • I swear to god that my fucking grandmother can even film people without cutting their heads off!!! GRRRRR!

You would think that at least ONE of these cameramen could get a head in the frame!

  • holy shit! idid not even look for the best recording of this. Here it is i am blown away

  • They have the three best guitars on stage there - the tele, jag/jazzmaster and rickenbecker - awesome

  • for some reason, in this video, jonny looks different.... maybe because heas moving...

  • it is frustratin how 3 years later, when kid a was released, that they decided they could no longer play airbag or planet telex, etc to the standard they did

  • They often have played "Airbag" and "Planet Telex" in their most recent tour.

  • thom looks like a chicken with its head cut off

  • youre on crack his style is amazing

  • i didnt say i didnt like him

  • yeahhhhhhhhhh, and on crack

  • too sane....?

99% of the population is insane.

  • If Thom Yorke had a seizure on stage, everyone would think that is was part of the performance. This performance prooves once and for all that 99 percent of the population is to sane to be great musicians.

  • omg he did have a seizure on stage.

  • obviously you've not witnessed an actual seizure..

  • i love how people overanalyse Jonny Greenwood's playing just cos he's Jonny Greenwood. who gives a fuck if its powerchords or not, or if Collin played that note (i mean what the fuck), stop kidding yourself that there's a godlike intricacy to every fucking note he plays.

  • well, maybe you're right, but there's one thing you maybe didn't know. Maybe we all play guitar or something and want to play this song. I just want to play airbag and if you want to play something you must know what you have to play. simple, right? and if people replied on me who didn't know anything of guitar, you shouldn't have replied:P

  • who says i don't play guitar...?

  • who is playing that line that jonny plays in the beginning the second time in the song? is it colin because a low E string is also playable on a bass.

  • Trust me, Jonny is playing the low E, I can even tell you what frets he's playing. This is before he strums that A sustained note, then Thom kicks in with the vocals. Colin is not playing the low E, he's playing a rather subtle bassline.

  • it's most definitely not Jonny. could be Colin like rubenikhaatjouook said, but i doubt it...or it could be sampled from the first time in the song, which is how i think it's really done.

  • It most definitely is Jonny. Look at 4:32 you see him playing the riff

  • that's not what we were talking about. we were talking about when the riff is played the SECOND time in the song, not at the very end. check out starting at 1:28. Jonny isn't playing it, cause he's reaching for the synth. Thom is strumming the rhythm, as usual, and Ed is busy with his own riff. So, it's either Colin, or it's sampled. I'm thinking, it's sampled.

  • oh i see. you may be right. its not colin because you can hear him start playing his bass line while the riff is going

  • yes you're right. the last person who posted a comment and the person before that one are right. at least that's whatr i think.

  • Plus you can see Ed playing it at 1:40.

  • it actually i sampled... as jonny has to get ready to come in with the tremelo

  • No you idiot, that's Ed playing that particular riff. They have 3 guitarists, why would they sample a guitar riff.

  • coruptgovt, are you deaf? Ed is playing a totally different riff. listen carefully. and they have to sample Jonny's riff, because when you have 4 guitar riffs going on at the same time and you only have 3 guitarists, you have to sample it or drop it altogether, there's nothing else you can do.

  • Come on, there´s no samples on that!

  • It's not sampled and it's not Johnny, Ed or Colin. It's Thom. If you listen closely (try the Jools version, too) you can hear that the F (2nd note of the riff) is an octave higher the 2nd time through than at the beginning & the end (when Johnny plays it); that's because Thom is playing a modified version of the riff on the E and A strings at frets 7-9 in combination with the weird, modulated A chord he strums throughout the intro and as the first chord of the verse. Trust me, it's Thom.

  • thom is playing the riff, jonny is getting ready to come in and ed is playing the riff thom plays at the beginning. you can tell because if you listen to thom's guitar part from the part before the tone/volume is the same as the part we're talking about. Also for the few notes that you see him playing it is at that position on the guitar.

  • No, it's sampled. You can hear it quite well in the jools holland version. thom is playing other bits at that time.

  • Yup. In the Tibet concert it also clearly shows Thom strumming just one chord in that part too.

  • Watch Thom's thumb, middle and ring fingers when he's playing that "one chord." If you play guitar, try picking the following pattern on your A and low E strings: A8, E8, E7, E9, A0, A7, A8, E8, E7, A0, E9. Once you've got that worked out, try it while holding your index finger at D7 and your pinky at G9 (you can use your index finger for the E7/A7 parts of the riff if your guitar neck is too thick to thumb wrap there). The hardest part is getting the strum pattern right. Not that hard, though.

  • hola no tienes mas videos de ese concierto del eurock 97 de radiohead? ojala los pudieras subir, anteriormente habia mas de ese concierto pero pues ya no estan te lo agradeceria si los subieras bye

  • what the hell is tom doin at 2:14? great performance though

  • Just a minor seizure most likely, nothing to worry about.

  • are the beginning just powerchords. i am talking about jonny's paret of course but i just want to know.

  • They are not power cords, they are single notes being played on the low E string.

  • how? if you look at airbag at jools holland, the line continues but jonny is playing the a string.

  • minuto 3:35 J.GREENWOOD y su guitarra empizan su show particular...¡'¡'¡'increible¡'¡'

  • i loooooooooooove this song... amazing...

  • I Agree.

    Those mighty guitars...

    And drums, and Thom.

    Magic.

  • This is the best fucking performance of Airbag fucking ever!

  • Cool live performance. It seems like one of the best I have seen. It is different from the original on OK Computer especially the guitar effect Johnny uses towards the end.

  • wow you are certainly a douche

  • does thom make a terodactyl sound at 2:14?

  • Thom really gets into his music. So does Jonny and everybody else.

  • LOL at 1:09.

  • ahehe yeah that's called getting into your music i think

  • his not high on drugs, his high with passion for his own music

  • i must always be high then

  • yeah i agree and id see that if it were just the headshaking dance but the whole choking sound thing? like wtf? seriously

  • haahahah yeah man wtf

thats really funny. maybe he was peaking out

  • You are making such a mistake. He's simply NOT stoned. That's all. How do I know? Because I've been a big Radiohead fan for the past 2 years. I know what the band would and would not do. I mean, there's the exceptional time when Thom did take drugs on stage, which was with Micheal Stipe+R.E.M. at the Tibetan Freedom Concert. Look it up man.

  • There is absolutely no way that thom yorke is not fucked up on something. People just dont do that shit unless their high on something which, by the way i have nothing against im just saying that he must be on something. All that aside however this song is one of the greatest album openers of all time.

  • i have man-crush on jonny

  • hes a dude go for chicks they have nicer bottoms

  • i have a .. girl-crush on jonny and Thom.

My God, I love that scream at 4:17.
