  • Allow me to add another similar song to the list - Deep Purple's "Holy Man".

In any case, it doesn't look like Ray LaMontagne is a very original composer. :)

  • sounds JUST like an early 1970's country music song, especially from either 1972 or 1973 - love it!!!! makes me wish i was a kid again once again driving with my mother along I-20 west in north louisiana going to see her kinfolk, especially my papaw, ms. myrtis, uncle ellis, and aunt liz.

  • @MsKeith1969 : AMEN to that! Takes me back to about a hundred different images in my life as well.

  • Sounds like a Joni Mitchell song.

  • Probably my favorite song Ray's ever recorded. It's a nice "Fuck you world, let's do this" counterpoint to his usual (beautiful) melancholy.

  • Olypics WTF auto correct

  • People like dellinger1000 and misterbeaucoup make my day when I scroll through the comments and see two people arguing over the Internet. Like they always say arguing on the Internet is like running in the special opioids even if u win ur still retarded

  • Pure soul.......From the heart.

  • It's this kind of easy to listen to, subtly country transitional sort of genre that warmed me up to country music as a whole.

Now you can serve me up a track soaked in that country twang sung with a southern accent and I'll be all over it.

  • @TheOssumPawesome I believe the genre you're referring to is "folk".

  • Reminds me of my son-in-law who dragged my only daughter out to Montana.

  • i thought it was a joni mitchell wanna be , it's a dude? channel joni is not a bad thing , she's the real deal

  • Man, this guy's voice gives me chills.

  • reminds me of iron & whine - boy with a coin for some reason..

  • I love this song but it depresses me. I want to end it all every time i hear it.

  • @JusAnotherUTuber

Yikes! No don't think that way!

  • I like it.

  • So is this considered folk music or what??

  • 19 people have no soul, let alone musical appreciation

  • Great traveling music: Ray lamontagne

    Wonderful winter music: Bon iver

    For the romantics: Pablo Blaqk

  • @sweetfish87 you forgot three major players Iron and Wine, Breathe Owl Breathe, and of course Fleet Foxes!!!!!!

  • Loving it

  • it isnt something that just used to happen

  • finally i get to walk amongst a real legend

  • This man restored my faith that the true singer sonwriter hasnt died

  • wow................

  • I just love this song! His voice is amazing!

  • Screamin Steel!

  • The best thing since Neil Young's very early stuff in the 60's!!! I was born in 67 and grew up loving some of the Greatest Music of ALL TIME!!!! I love folk music and this guy brings it for the 21st Century!

  • @DogPack94 Harvest was a great Neil album... but Ray is it dude... its killer...

  • @DogPack94 I was born at the same time---I thought for sure this song must have been from '70 or '71. Finally, some real music from this new century.

  • About time we got some REAL music...from a REAL artist again!

  • this makes me want to write a quirky romance movie about two teens growing up in the countryside with summers full of trees, freedom, and love, and this will be the soundtrack to that movie.

  • the best!

  • @1992Ignorance you should throw in some eddy vader

  • Loved his first record...Gave it to several people... Didn't know that he'd break my heart for the rest of my life. He fits every mood that I own. A hammer in his own right and I cannot help but being his nail...

  • Heard this song once, and I loved it. Amazing. The more I hear the more I love of Ray. Never had a crush on an Amish lookin fellow!

  • I want to be drinking sweet tea in a rocking chair on a screened-in front porch, watching the lightning bugs at dusk, with Ray's music on. That would be perfect.

  • @luvav8n That sounds ideal!

  • This is a great song! perfect for a night of booze cruisin the mountains of Montana haha oh wait thats what I'm doing right now. I'll drink a Coors light for all you Youtubers :)

  • @MontanaRam1500 shithowdy,I wish I was right there with ya

  • @MontanaRam1500 Hoping your not drinking while your driving in MT.. I have the same feeling here in New Hampshire listening to Ray in the White Mountains

  • This song makes me think of driving like down a quiet street, on a chilly evening, relaxed but not tired, VERY chill song.

  • this man use to get his ass beat and look at him now amazing

  • @mello27 who the hell use to beat him?

  • is it just me or does this guy totally sound like Joni Mitchell both in his voice and his song writing. thumbs up if you think so

  • @clintlalonde He did remind me of Neil Young as well

  • @clintlalonde i was driving home and heard this on the radio..first thought was "joni Mitchell"..great minds think alike..i'm playing this for my son/ great lyrics

  • @clintlalonde Yea, you got that right!

  • @ICESTRONG@ "I like this song to." "I hope you don't mind." "I posted it on my facebook wall." "It will be there temporary." "It will get a lot of attention from my friends for sure."

  • great song when you're driving to get away from it all

  • instant classic

  • Oh my God... who else hears Joni Mitchell in this? Fantastic.

  • @maniskov he nails her don't he? lol.

  • @maniskov I do. The first time I heard this I thought it was her.

  • @maniskov in fact I was certain it was a Joni written song, until I found out it wasn't

  • @jweinsto1 Must admit I wasn't a huge Joni fan when she was in her prime (and I was much younger), but I sure do appreciate her now... and this song from Ray really brings me back. He has an old soul.

  • imagine this, on a horse, looking at the sunset in the prarie, listening to nature, with this song on.... ah.... heaven....

  • This song has something so nostalgic about it. Not sure if it makes me happy, sad, soo good though.

  • I like this song and my grandpa's still learning the alphabet....for the FIRST time.

  • @koalanuggets45 Sorry to hear your grandpa's illiterate... but I'm glad that he's finally learning to read, even in his old age. =)

  • I like this song and my grandpa hasn't hit puberty yet.

  • LOL i like this song and i havent even been concieved! TOP THAT!

  • I love this song and I was born tomorrow night

  • randomly bought this guys album because i like the cover.. fell inlove with his music.. his voice hypnotising, brilliant lyrics aswell!

  • Several. M0:00RE. times. ♥

  • good stuff ray just 28 years old and already love this song..... you described a part of my past present and future.............the captain morgan ....luke

  • I like this song, and I'm just a twinkle in my dad's eye.

  • I prefer to hear songs where Ray is playing with the Pariah Dogs. IMHO, his voice needs electric guitars and a drum beat in the background.

  • There aren't many things I'm totally sure of. But one of them is that the world needs way more of this and way less of the overproduced pop music we hear.

  • @senorloco1908 Ray is awesome, but morons have no idea what "produced" even means. He's signed with a Sony label..a ton of production goes into all his recordings.

  • Today is Ray LaMontagne's birthday! Happy birthday, Ray!

  • I like this song and I'm 5 months...comfortably beaten

  • Makes me want to sit in the shade under that beautiful oak tree while sipping a cold glass of lemonade and reading a good ole book. Thanks Ray, your the best... your an inspiration to us all the way from Maine to Oregon.

  • Good shit. Takes you places.

  • Good stuff. Faraway from the norm. Shut-up,sit,and Listen. He's got alot of good stuff.

  • Love thiis <3

  • good

  • good

  • Reminds me of vintage Neil Young, especially back to Buffalo Springfield years. Beautiful song.

  • One of the few songs I personally can stomach, one of the most depressing musical instruments ever invented, a "steel guitar" in fact, it sounds absolutely beautiful as the rest of this song does. This group of talant has it together. Guess I heard that poor miserable Hank Williams Sr. moan about a cheating heart just one time too many growing up as a child in a home afflicted with the same disease he had, alcoholism. I call that music to cry in your beer & shoot yourself in the head by, OH WELL

  • @KranstonMusic When I said " All Types" I didn't mean it literally. I meant different kinds.

  • Definitely a Stephen Stills/Neil Young/Buffalo Springfield thing going on. Love this track.

  • His music has so much soul. I love it !

  • I have never fell in love with something so quickly and deeply...

  • I have Just recently discovered Ray and now I am going to go see him live on June 11th Looking forward to it.

  • @kingofrockandrollfan

Freinds and I will be seeing him tonight at the LC in Columbus..so excited

  • @Treva789 It was in my opinion amazing

  • @kingofrockandrollfan loved the show..it was rare grace and hard work rolled into a stellar performance...no frills just talent and love of music..it was an honor to be there..may we all have something in our life that we love and express as well as Ray Lamontagne does with his music

  • @Treva789 Could not have put it better myself all 3 act were amazing It was just one of those nights where everything seem to flow perfectly

  • This really shows his love of Steven Stills ... what a treasure this man is - thank God the world now knows ...

  • Call me crazy but listening to Ray's music style and voice which I love, but REALLY reminds me of Joni Mitchell's work. This song sounds alot like joni's free man in paris song.

  • This man is a gift !!!

  • People with talent piss me off.

  • i LOVE this song and i'm 101 years old

  • I have all his CDs... and they get so many plays... I never get tired of this man... Wonderful!

  • love Beg, borrow or steal. sorry I missed you on Letterman. You are moving up in the big world!!

  • I am right there with you breakroombrawl...I loved this and I just purchased Lady Gaga's Born This Way CD today. LMAO....

  • It's so funny when people say music on the radio is crap. "Good" music should inspire people, it should make you FEEL something, and inspiration is in the eye of the beholder (or ear I guess). If Lady Gaga inspires you, great! I, however, perfer music with a more folk sound, and Ray does just fine.

  • i lik this song and I'm 6 months old...Top that!

  • @drewshuey1

i like this song and I'm 5 months old.

  • @drewshuey1 I'm a wad of spunk sitting my mom's vagina waiting to contact an egg so I can become some dip shit 15 year old who will say something gay regarding my age and liking a particular band in 16 years.

Or...maybe I can be be gayer than 9 guys blowing 10 guys and try to make some clever remark that ends in "thumbs up if you agree".

"If you aint high before noon, go fuck yoursself!" - Joey Diaz

  • @drewshuey1 I like it and I'm 5 months old.

  • @drewshuey1 i like this song and im a fetus???

  • @drewshuey1 actually just made me crack up...

  • @drewshuey1 I was born about 7 minutes ago. ;) Top THAT!
