I am soon going to be getting a ferret of my own. I'm very excited, but I was just wondering what should I pick up before getting one? (Besides the obvious, cage, food, litter, etc.)
@Justin10473 1st id suggest gettign 2 because they can get sad if their alone. they need hammocks to sleep in, toys such as tunnels and squeeky toys, you could let em jump around on plastic bags but make sure to supervise that, and AWESOME website with basically all ferret items is ferret dot com :)
My wife and I just bought a 13 week old do you have any tips on caring for these guys. Ours goes nuts when we let her out does this temperament stick or will she calm down
@petenliz09 Ours calmed down, but they are always going to have a bunch of playful energy when first let out! They need at least two hours of out time/play a day. If you have a single ferret, make sure it gets a lot of socializing with you since they are sociable. Ferrets have thick skin and bite when they play with each other so train her not to bite people in play by saying "Ouch" loudly, high pitched, when she does, and she will let go. Is there anything in particular you needed help with?
How do u get your ferrets to play?? I'm a new ferret owner and they don't play with each other I have bought so much for them and they just sleep pretty much!! Bt super cute ur ferrets look like mine!! :)
@jlo4laughs19 How old are they? Did they know each other before you bought them? Mine were bought from the same place, are the same age, and never had a problem playing. Ideas on getting them to play might be.. making sure they are fed properly and have access to water, even when out to play? Take them out when they are already awake? Let them out for at least an hour to make sure they have time to actually have a chance to play? Hope that helps a bit... BTW What are you feeding them?
@elizabethlea27 sophia is 11 months and mocha is 8 months mine were bought from the same place to but they wernt together.. they always have food and water out and there pretty much out all the time i leave them in my room you think its cuz there in one room all the time? i have them on the porch when its summer but since its winter i dont...and i feed them marshal ferret food
This might sound weird but they might have either a medical issue, or be spending enough energy constantly that it doesn't get pent up so they don't go wild like you see mine get when they are let out for a few hours. See mine have a ferret nation cage for a home, then play for a few hours each day. I think if they were out all day long I wouldn't see them play much either. Also think about switching from Marshall's ferret food to something better. Evo is great, I use it!
