  • A new kind of Bonanza Bros. style game nowadays? Holy crap.

  • Kind of looks like The Art of Theft (I think) by Croshaw (aka Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation / The Escapist) but better. Cant wait to play it.

  • @pendact i would pay, but it would be god, if you could add updates with more levels

  • for the one where he put a elavotor loop for the doors you could also wire camera, to turn off a light and wire that guards switch to open door, giving you time to get to th door

  • awesome game, but you should really use a different more fitting name. oh and take a look at this bgm, if you havent already: /watch?v=ukk1DlbdX68

  • this looks genius and funny

  • Easy: Put in a little blurb saying "If you think this is worth money, please donate here" and link to a paypal/similar account. Job done. I, for one, would donate if this had a linux version.

  • 'did something emergent just happen?'

    ha

  • Somehow i think this game would fall under the games TB is bad at, like Stealth, Puzzle lol

  • Worth paying for.

  • Needs a cleaner robot that trips people and also something to drop a mess. :D

(The robot goes to messes like the guards go to lightswitches)

  • Things automatically being inputs or inputs to things depending on what they are linked to is awesome :O

  • Worth paying for. Just needs more content (other than rewiring)

  • Sweet game. Crosslink genius!

  • You should also make the game very customizable like backgrounds, level editors, lots of upgrades, gadgets, weapons, enemies, being able to change the colour of clothes just stuff like that. It allows for lots of variety making the game more fun to play and not the same old, same old. Maybe some sort of multiplayer either online or on the same computer using a keyboard and controller. Just some thoughts.

  • I think the game is worth money but the only problem is that lots of games you by through the internet you need a credit card and being a kid I don't have one (plus parents sometimes wont allow buying with credit card or whatever). I really think you deserve some sort of profit for this because the game looks amazing. Maybe some advertising on your site or adF.ly links to the download link. Just some sort of way of making it easily accessible while you still gain a profit. Cant wait to play :P

  • the jump so funny

  • you need to turn this into an IOS app, and an Andriod App

  • If you could eventually get a level editor in there, it would make the game even better for whatever price you decide.

  • MAKE IT PART OF A HUMBLE BUNDLE!

  • yep this is really awesome, id pay for it - imagine how cool it would be to see it on ipad.. im also making a game, check out the dead walk on my profile..

  • I would totally pay for this game if it would be available for linux users :D

  • SHUT_UP_AND_TAKE_MY_MONEY.jpg

  • i want this game now

  • now that is something original, great game!

  • although i would love to get this for free u deserve money for your efforts

  • One of those "Oh damn, why I didn't I think of this?" moments.

  • Very nice.

  • How do we GET the game?

  • This is possibly the greatest indie game I have ever seen. I would definitely pay for this.

  • i whould definetly buy this if it was xbox arcade

  • crosslink= genius

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY

  • I would pay money for this provided it is as good as it looks in this video!

  • Even though it strongly reminds me of an extended enhanced version of Trilby: The Art of Theft, I feel like that can't be a bad thing.

  • I would pay anywhere from $5 to $10 for this.

  • Every time a door smacked a guard down in this video, I did a great big dirty laugh.

PS, I would so pay cash for this. Freaking awesome stuff!

  • Take my money naow!

  • Looks like a lot of fun.. I'd definitely pay at least 5 euros for it.

  • Brilliant! Would easlily pay 10 Euros for it.

  • put this on steam. and charge 10 bucks as long as it gives at least 4 hours of gameplay, you got yourself a winner!

  • Напоминает Терминатор на Денди 8 бит...

  • definitely waiting for

  • i absolutely love the idea for this game, though im not sure if I would pay money for it...

if I were to pay money for this, I would hope that extra levels would be released through update, otherwise it's just another game...

  • @shroomring shroomring my dear... go die in a fire please

  • I'd pay about ten dollars for this. If your looking for music. Try the guy who made iji.

    /watch?v=33mxD4FjD3w

    remar.se/daniel/iji.php

  • im sure you could port it to mac since theres a mac version of Game Maker. Not sure about linux though.

  • Fun looking indie title. £10 appears to be the correct price point. So many people are just looking to jump on the bandwagon with the next best indie game.

Seriously well done. Note: Music is a must. *wink*

  • you MUST charge money for this. brilliant dude. and actually loved your smart and sensible commentary on it all, wouldn't mind some sort of Valve-esque dev commentary sprinkled with your anecdotes on its design throughout a New Game + version or something.

    Keep it up.

  • TAKE MY MONEY, DAMMIT

  • Been here since the beginning and it looks WAYY different.

  • This looks really fun. March 2012, eh? I'll look forward to it. Try not to make it too expensive, hm?

  • *Mission Impossible theme activated*

  • This was made in Game maker? Shut up and take my money!

  • The unknown brother to Agent Trilby - Art of the Theft!

  • A good way to help promote this might be to talk to TotalBiscuit, he would probably be interested in doing a WTF Is... on it, that will certainly get word out and he could even get a wider audience to help you decide whether they think it's worth paying for or not, if not that it would still get the game known by thousands very easily.

  • @xTenebrous The game creator is an editor at PC Gamer UK. I don't think press will be a problem.

  • I deeply desire to pay money for this title.

  • games like this, fantastic idea, but little publicity, yet unoriginal call of duty sequels get shat out every year, keep up the good work, i will definately buy this.

  • That looks like it's worth money, and you said it's made in "gamemaker", there's already a MAC runner for gamemaker, and they are working on a linux player for it too, so if you give it time, you can use that, I'd personally love to test it :P

  • AWESOME! If people would buy a piece of shit like Meatboy, they would definitely pay for this bit of genius.

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

  • $15, easily. Reminds me of a more contemporary Trilby.

  • This is exactly something for me, something I'd pay 5$-15$ for, or as people have said, buy it in a Humble Bundle.

    Fantastic work right there.

  • This definitely looks like a game I'd buy. I think I'd even play it too. I agree with Crosswalknorway; this seems like a good candidate for a Humble Bundle.

  • Great job! I'd definately pay, but as a young person i don't have tons of money, i'd be willing to pay up to $7 for this, also... Humble indie bundle? That seems like it would work nicely with this game!

  • I think people who are aware of projects like these are generally the same types willing to support independent game design. I'd pay $5-$10 for roughly 20-30 levels.

  • you should get tobuscus to make the music

    :D

  • This definitely shouldnt be free. It looks like a greaf game with a great concept. Id buy it if it was on the App Store or available on Mac.

  • Clever and has a nice artstyle, I'd buy it.

  • It looks like it should be paid! Not a huge amount.

  • knowing nothing more than the content of this video, I would be happy to lay down ~ $6AUD given a few tens of levels and maybe some storyline to tie it together.

good luck to you, and I hope to see this on steam or some other digital distrubutor sometime in the next year.

  • looks interesting

  • i think PWYW but add a base price to start with

  • As a wise man once said:

"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

  • What language is used to program this?

  • @j7512 He uses gamemaker, like he said in the video.

  • I would definitely pay money for this game.

  • Seriously, even if you get it for 2.50$ on steam or something, charge a little for it. If you can get, say, even 50k off this game, why not? Developers should be rewarded, especially for something this creative.

  • Amazing! =D

  • Where did toy get that fantastic window smashing sound from?

  • One word.. AMAZING! Totally buying it as soon as it comes out.

  • I love the fighting sounds.

  • seems like the game made by yahtzee. 'Trilby: The Art of Theft'

  • This video made me subscribe! Hope to see more!

  • this is a very nice concept. I would totally pay for this

  • The problem is that I don't have any money, and I am quite cheap.

I think you should have a pay-what-you-want model, with extra non-game content if you pay: e.g., Soundtrack (when it's made), and maybe a t-shirt.

    :P

  • i would pay for it

  • that cross linking from 2:00-3:21....just wow

  • I'm definitely buying this game when it comes out! Please keep it up! :)

  • I would TOTALLY pay cash for this. Keep doing what you do brother, you're onto something brilliant.

  • @gorillatao So what asshole where you thinking of pirating it?

  • @nfire4 You might want to brush up on your reading comprehension skills, kid

  • whatever

  • @gorillatao I'm tossing 100$ bills at the screen but nothing's happening!

  • I so hope this game comes with it's own map editor as well. See what other crazy-ass puzzles others can come up with, and to also see just how hard level-making really is.

If your dev-blog is anything to go by: 1 solution is too easy and short-lived, multiple solutions = replayability (easy or hard). Not easy, I imagine.

I'm curious about a single solution that has numerous ways in, but very few out by the end of the puzzle.

  • i would buy this game for all of the money in the world...AKA the money i have...okay as much as i want which is $10

  • Amazing, would definitely pay for this in a heartbeat.

  • Very innovative mechanics. Definitely play-worthy.

  • Yes, yes I would pay for this.

You need to make a version for Xbox Live and PSN.

  • badass man

  • I'd pay for this awesomeness.

  • Comment removed

  • I'd pay you cash for this, it's awesome!

  • game is totally awesome, sell it!!

  • SELL IT!

  • I honestly think you have a nice succes here. At the end of the day its up to you, but I would put out a demo of the first 2 levels or so and sell it at a nice price for a indie game

  • This is pretty well incredible work you've done.

  • I would buy this in a heartbeat.

  • I so want this game... I also want a pair of projectile trousers... one of these is more likely than the other..

  • Dude listen to me all the other coments about prices is what they think but if you really want to sell just give your own price

BTW I would pay $10.00 for this game

  • You mentioned Linux, but no love for OS X? If you ever want this to go in a humble bundle etc you might want to look at making it fully cross-platform.

I'd definitely pay for this, don't you dare make it free!

  • I would pay 10 euros for it or 13 US dollars for it..

Would like VERY nice on my desktop next to minecraft!!!

  • This game would be so much more satisfying to create and complete in a real language. Looks good, shame it's GameMaker!

  • @t0rk3y Who cares?

  • @t0rk3y Not everyone uses the drag and drop bullshit of gamemaker you know? You can write everything in GML and more or less only use gamemaker itself as compiler and to keep track of resources.

  • @t0rk3y If it works, why the fuck not use GameMaker?

  • @t0rk3y Ever heard of Spelunky? That's another GameMaker success!

  • YOU TALK REALLY FAST BLAGREAJOIHUEINRFVBDSFJJBAEKGB4RE.

    That is all.

  • @Pentadact Was that made in lite of paid?

  • Gamemaker is being ported to Linux soon, I've heard, so lucky you!

  • Ever heard of DOORS?

    But really this looks awesome.

But don't make it expensive, it's not THAT awesome.

  • @mcmonkey4eva Says you.

  • looks cool to watch but i dont think i would play it.

  • Does it have randomized missions? If not, it is going to come down to a matter of memorization.

  • I would buy this for about $5 without hesitation and maybe $10 after some thought but I would recommend you selling it at the $5 price point to maximise sales.

  • Like MrJoo said I'd prefer it to be free but i think id be willing to pay for it as long as its not short or builds up with content updates. Its pretty interesting. Hopefully its playable on Mac. $5-$10 sounds about right, sell it on steam =)

  • notch tweeted this

  • valve should hire this guy etc etc

  • if it was on mac, that is.

  • i'd pay for it. obviously i'd prefer it to be free, but, yeah, i'd pay for it.

  • Notch sent me here, saying that he'd pay for this game...

  • rhis looks a bit like portal all the puzzling and thinking about things

    i would pay for it

  • @AntFilledBeach nah if u wanna see portal 2, search Qube.

  • Oh god I want to play and yes I would pay.

  • I would buy this game 5 to 10 dollars, if it had more added features to it. Like backstory, level editor, better graphics. Or it might as well be some epic free flash game I see in newgrounds. Like Happy Wheels for example. Idk...

  • I would certainly buy this game. Particularly if it was released on Linux.

  • I'd be up for doing some music to this. You can check out my Youtube account for examples but there's a greater variety of stuff on my Soundcloud page. Search on there for Roo Stercogburn to show what I can do. Immediately one of tracks called "Ty" comes to mind for something like this then switch to something more ambient for contrast and then a chilled beat based piece for the likes of using the handheld device.

  • Had you not paid others to make the game better graphically and whatnot, I'd still agree with your original 'free'. But now that it has awesome graphics and longer length, I think it's worth selling. Others have said $10, but it would really depend on length. $5 for sure, though.

  • If you got enough content and add a custom map maker, it would easily be a 10$ worth.

  • SHUT UP AND MAKE THIS FOR MAC(Note: Game Maker does not work for macs)

  • @giantfalconpunch1 Haha...i don't even feel sorry for you.

  • @giantfalconpunch1 yes it does. heard of Game Maker Mac?

  • Finally a proof that gamemaker is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

  • That's a great price for it. I'd totally get it. :D

  • This is so awesome! I would pay 10$.

  • $10 sounds nice. $5 seems too cheap.

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY

  • thumbs up if u came here from a notch post on twitter

  • Awesome! The price I would pay, $5-10 definitely. Depends on its length and the creativity you put on the later levels.

  • HOLY FUCK! THIS GAME WAS MADE IN GAMEMAKER?!

  • I really want this, I'd probably pay 10 dollars for it, but it sucks that it's windows only. Perhaps if you ported it to a unix based system like Linux or Mac I'd play it, but I don't own a windows computer. :(

  • This is God Damn impressive for Game Maker!

  • when i see this in a humble bundle i will pay 10€

  • Looks like that game ZP made.

  • I would definitely pay $5-$10 USD from what I've seen!

I like Steam when possible, and Humble Bundle eventually (don't state this initially though).

Custom mission maker would be a good idea too :)

  • I'd pay $5 for this on Steam, easy. Assuming 20 levels doesn't take more than a few hours, I'd need it to have more content for a $10 or $15 price point.

  • I'd pay $10 and that's really something, coming from where I am. :D

  • My suggestion would be - £5.99 on Steam normally, 2,99/1.99 on steeam sales (window, autmn, summer, daily etc) and in a humble bundle after 6 months :)

  • I'll happily pay £7 (about $5) for this! One question though: will there be a level editor?

  • the door take downs are the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. keep at it

  • add 20 more levels ontop of the existing 20, add a nice soundtrack, release it for xbox live arcade and i'll gladly pay 25 bucks for it.

  • awesome looking game! i like games that do this kinda complicated looking stuff!

i'd probably pay around 10$ for 20 levels.

  • I would buy it for $10, easily. Maybe even more, depending on the content.

  • $5 would be amazing, $7.50 pretty good, $10 just a tad too much.

  • make a deal with some other indie devs to release it on humble indie bundle, then maybe a steam release for about 5-10 dollars since its indie.. but im sure people will buy it at 20$

  • NOTCH SENT ME HERE

  • Looks like they stole their graphics from Nifflas.

  • Charge for it and definitely release a Linux version. Linux users are the most generous gamers. I'd be willing to pay a tenner for it.

  • This video must make you happy, 150,000+ vies 2000+ likes, and all under 500 subs. All thanks to the power of Notch.

Also, i enjoyed the video, you earned yourself another sub.

  • Very good!!! Make me want to play with it!!!

  • The first faceplant he did out the window, I died.

    So damn funny.

  • This doesn't cost money???

  • 8:15 WIN!

  • Wait wait wait, this was made in GAMEMAKER?
