In TBoGT i used the parachute glitch and was higher than you normally can go and it snapped and i landed on a flat surface next to the water and somehow survived.

I fell from above the map in TBoGT using the parachute glitch, when you get too high your parachute breaks and i was falling for 2mins and i landed on the china town roof which acted like a slide and propelled me into a lamp post and i survived lol!

Simple, When you hit the edge of the building, it causes a glitch which somewhere in scripting causes

a lower health loss instead of imediate kill.

When you free-fall, the game decides on how much health you loose on key points of the body, and the speed. The lamp post excludes those prior statements and has a fixed health loss percent.
