I learned about Dave Weckl from a friend of mine who played drums way back in the day. He went down in the who's who book of high school people as one of the top ten drummers at his age in the United States. His name is Arlis Henegar and I miss some of the great times and the music we never went forward with. Make no mistake, it takes dedicated band members and a relentless striving for a break to make it big. My advice... never take a woman who doesn't support what you do and promote the band.

is that around that time everybody was hating on weckl he came out in modern drummer talking about " i fell everybody lie to me i was playing like a robot " LOL nah mr weckl be-bop was popular around that time 90's and everybody knows weckl can not play be-bop...... but now that fusion is in " thanks to brooklyn " well weckl is back !!

That is the most beautifully warm sounding drumkit I have ever heard :) I would love a kit that nice. I've got the same starter kit I bought 2 years ago (which is now battered beyond comprehension and tuned with various bits of tape) and an electric one, but nothing compares to this.

This is an interesting topic ..drumsets . It has been said , and truthfully I think , that a good drummer can get it happening on any kit regardless of quality . That a good touch is really what matters .

On the other hand I know that when I finally did get a nice drumset ( yamaha recording custom ) I sounded better immediately and thus was inspired to practice . So i guess it goes both ways .

I'm glad it was meant as a compliment because I have a huge amount of respect for Dave Weckl as a musician and drummer. And you're right, the word 'bullshit' definitely infers the opposite of what you were trying to say. I believe he practised 12-14 hours a day at one point, and I thought my 4-5 hours a day (when I started out as a teenager), was a long time! I wish I had 2 hours a day to practice now.

I've been watching this for 2 weeks. Man it's insane at what levels he perceives sound. He mutes his floor toms at the end with his hand.

Every stroke of his is perfect, when I try to play it some notes on the hi hat don't land right and are not heard, I hit the snare drum at different spots while he always hits the center no matter which hand he is using.
