To be honest, the religious people saying "stop playing god" are being unreasonable.
I'm religious, and i believe god gave us the capacity to be brilliant, and to create a replacement limb for someone who has had an accident. It's within human nature to want to better ourselves, humans will create amazing, BRILLIANT designs, wouldn't god want us to better ourselves?
besides, it's hardly playing god, nothing can compare to the real thing, but be happy humans are seeking out knowledge of the body
@MrAlextremable shut up. im disabled. there are no reasons to ban it, the research will go underground and then shit gets scary. do some actual research before trying to sound intelligent about this please. im disabled myself, and if some asshole comes along and tells me i cant have a bionic eye because of some compelling reason ill personally slap him in the melon.
well its way too big for one,and theres no full range of motion like sway or shake effects or senesativity it has to be more smaller than the bones u or i have in our bodies .robotics need memory and storage capacity.if u cant punch jab or throw a cross, hook or uppercut ect.then more devolopment needs to go into it.but its a start i would love to be on ur team.
next people we'll make people into cyborgs, theirs nothing more fritining than a cyborg with two mini gun troughting around the battle field taking down tanks and airplanes, and taking dictators down.
@swearbears1 Yeah but by that point we will have better tanks. Everything betters itself and something new will replace the tech of today so it will pretty much always be the same battle.
@swearbears1 Technically she already is a cyborg. But then again anyone wearing glasses could technically be considered a cyborg... You know, in the broadest sense of the word... Holy crap, I'm a cyborg!
Claudia Mitchell's prosthetic limb is very impressive, but its nothing compared to Spencer's BIONIC AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!
Really incredible. I love gentleman's comment "One day I hope to see this hanging in the Smithsonian and people will wonder what we did before this invention"
Maybe the US Military should use millions of dollars spent to develop weapon system that can wipe out an entire armored division, killing and maiming their crews from a single fighter jet and invest it in this.
Are weapons really more valuable than this? We spend so much money trying to eliminate lives instead of trying to improve them.
@Adrast DARPA and the Military have been investing more than enough money into innovations like this. They've been funding a project that just recently allowed a Marine to regrow the 70% of his thigh that he lost from an explosion with pigs bladder hormones. Look up E-legs which now can help the paralyzed walk again that came from H.U.L.C. As well as the company Arteriocyte that is working on universal Artificial Blood. So they throw money at ways to kill and to save.
Now. What if this research for the disabled to control artificial limbs using their brain is in fact really perfecting how to effectively control the mind via device?
So biomedical engineers make things like this right? Or is it doctors? Because in all of these videos it is always a doctors talking, they seem to get credit for the work which they have not done. Doctors just implant them BME design and make them.
seriously, playing god? you religous nuts can go fuck yourself. if your god is so great, WHY THE FUCK SHOULD HE BE WORRIED ABOUT SCIENCE??? do you really think that an omnipotent being wouldnt have made room for science? i hope you look one of these vets in the face and say that crap, then they punch you in the mouth with that metal arm. these vets have been closer to god than any of you tit fed over educated assholes. take some gun fire and then tell me something about life
Why do they keep building these bulky pieces of crap all you have to is mimic the human body. Use strands of rubber like muscle then fill the things with little magnets ready to grab eachother as soon as power is given to them. There you have it the rest is a crap load of wrapping stands so they mimic muscles which is gonna take a long time and alot of money but you would have better agilty than these crap motors. Our bodys are the most advanced tech might as well copy it.
Wow this is good advancement, and the vid is 2 years old. Dont know why there are lots of religious nuts here tho....also i immediately thought deus ex.
One of my friends lost his right arm from the shoulder and he can't even write anymore because hes right handed ,although he is training his left hand now. Maybe showing him this will give him hope and one day he might actually be able to take care of himself and do all daily life tasks such as driving, writing or even do sports again :D
@Brutaka921 i think its because we humans are trying to actually be humans and advance through technology to survive. Apparently that is "playing god" or whatever crap them religion buffs think
This is a video about prosthetic limbs, why the **** is there an argument about religion on this video? Do you guys seriously troll every video on youtube? I ask this because I seem to see you everywhere.
@Erdross He lost both his arms due to electrocution. If that isnt a reason to praise GOD then I dont know what else you want. Also hes not insulting you or anybody so really what is your problem?
I think you vastly misunderstood my earlier comment. I have absolutely no problem with him praising god. What I have a problem with is a long heated argument about religion in the comment section when all I wanted to do was read comments about the actual video.
Holy crap, I thought the religious issue was shoe-horned into Deus Ex: HR to balance out the left-wing undertones of the rest of anti-agumentation philosphy (the concern over augmentations widening the class gap, that is). Aparrently I was wrong! I wonder which party will end up being the more antagonistic to augmentation technology when it does arrive.
@Erdross They played a game called Deus ex ; human revolution and it has themes of prosthetic s and they are just trolling on the subject since they most likely dont know much about it.
why not just control the arm with your brain??? THIS TECHNOLOGY ALREADY EXISTS! There are things you can wear on your head to control a computer with your brain.
Clever innovation indeed, though I'd imagine that you'd feel like your phantom fingers were trapped inside your chest. Overall I'm a bit skeptical about bionic technology's long term future as it's competing with regenerative medicine & limb transplants. As known nature is the master of design and us humans can only crudely imitate this. That said if I needed an arm transplant I'd be more inclined to have a cloned arm, grown in a lab matching my immune systems characteristics than a robotic one.
I somewhere heard that the military is at least 7 years ahead of what the normal society has. They could already got some "Super - Soldiers". I mean, you could still shoot one. Its not like people gonna raid on the streets, they aint god, they are just able to smash your head with one arm. Nothing you couldnt kill, with a shotgun... or something bigger...
nice, but how many time before this technology is weaponized or when those prosthetic limbs become more efficient than natural ones ? guess we'll just have to chop ourself off and take a third mortgage to get "augmented" and get a job huh ?
like it wasn't sad and disgusting enought those proud soldiers got injured fighting money/petrol wars for the globalist agenda, now they serve a guinea pig for the transhumanist one ...
