The fact that Squats and Power Cleans aren't in your list, but super overly exotic pressing movements, like blast strap weighted pushups, are.. tells me you need to stop showing off your gym equipment and go back to basic weight training 101.
3 days workin out in the off season? cuz during the winter I hit the gym 5-6 days a week, but less in the summer since I'm on the court almost every day. I don't like ballin and lifting w/o a long enough rest between, I prolly hit the gym bout 4 times a week once the weather is good
@BasketballTrainingTV great list. Love the split squats and reverse lunges. Definitely two overlooked exercises for basketball. I think step ups, lateral lunges and one leg straight leg deadlifts are great as well for hip strength, balance and reactive strength. But I know from experience all of these exercises are nothing compared to a few 17s at the end of practice! LOL
When you talk about using horizontal lifts and vertical lifts what exactly are you referring too? Would you consider bench a horizontal or vertical lift?
good list. Might also want to consider adding in regular squats, DLs from the floor, cleans, and snatches. I would also add in KB swings since you have them and talk about hip drive being so important
@whiteboyairlines For 1% of players, sure. But keep in mind 99.9% of basketball players are NOT going proficient in any of those lifts - do you really want 6'5" guys deadlifting from the floor, and doing olympic lifts? It's a recipe for disaster. This list is put together of the safest lifts that most basketball players won't have a problem with.
@BasketballTrainingTV Then you shouldn't call this a top 10 list because it isn't. Yeah i think they should do DLs from the floor, atg squats, and oly lifts because they are the best thing you can do for your vertical. what i am not recommending is just going out to a gym and putting on four plates right away and going for a 1 rm. These are not dangerous lifts and i have seen plenty of big people do them. you just need some solid coaching on technique and smart lifting.
Wanted to shoot you a msg askin on your thoughts on the Ray Allen method of coming off screens for shooting jump shots, with more of a jump stop to square up, is it something that you teach. Also u have any intention on putting a video out about "breaking down a defender" (getting by a defender or setting up a defender)
Thanks, and its good to see you on vertfreak, I think we'll be able to learn a lot from you. Thanks.
Hey man. Yeah you could just do two full body workouts per week, 4 compound lifts (2 upper 2 lower) then core work on each day. You'd get good results with that.
