I'm doing my research on PD...I lost my graft and I don't want another one so I'm looking at this. I'm just worried abut doing taekwondo with one...even though all the doctors say it's ok
Hi everyone I'm new also in PERITONEAL DIALYSIS is anyone can give me some advice what should I do cause sometimes I don't understand myself. I'm livin here in JAPAN
@J4CXST3R I'm sorry to hear you had kidney failure at such a young age. What is Wegners? My ex-sister in law had kidney failure when she was about 25, she is now 43 and she has always gone to get Hemodialysis. I was wondering if you've in your opinion?ever had hemodialysis? If so which is more comfortable n
@Yomalex3 I've done both. The tube and the fistula are both unattractive. I prefer haemo because you only have to do it 3 times a week for 4 hours instead of every night for 8 hours or 4 times a day. The diet and fluid restriction is more restrictive on haemo though. You are more likely to get infections on PD. But PD is better for your life expectancy. PD tends to last only 5 years on average. There are pros and cons. I was 19 when I went on dialysis I have since had a transplant.
@Yomalex3 No problem, I am always have been and always will be willing to help people on dialysis and those going on dialyis, and to answer questions on dialysis. Yes, I have had a tranplant, but I will never forget those still on dialysis, it was and will be again in the future a large part of my life.
I have been complaining to my doc for over three years about kidney pain, rash, and all sorts of symptoms that go along with it and recently discovered that I am in stage 1 of CKD.
I lived 5 years with PD but now with 35% renal function, live a virtually normal* life 2 years after I stopped PD, then had my catheter removed 1 year later.
*In 2008, I experienced 4 occasions of severe nausea, extreme abdominal pain + diarreah needing emergency in-hospital treatment. Eventually diagnosis was "inoperable adhesions" and I now carry MORFINE SULFATE 10mg tablets P.R.N.
Yes it does well Kidney failure does because of the fluid and depending on how much you like drink and eat...Like the fluid can't always all be taken of leaving fluid which builds up on the stomach area.
It's not about what diet your on cause my dad is on one but it doesn't work cause it's to do with fluid intake...Like how much you drink and you can't always mesure that out...
listen to and ask questions to your pd nurse. its overwhelming at first but after you do it hands on , its a piece of cake, and im 35 btw, after being on pd i'll never go back to hemo.
And you find this better?? Well i havent tried this kinda dialysis before so all i know is Hemo. I would proberly forget to do it everyday, Do u still have to have a fluid restriction with that?? Also ive heard in women its harder to get pregnant even after a transplant.
PD does not decrease your kidney transplantation chances. The young individual you are reffering to must have other medical conditon that limit her chances, maybe immune disorder that attacks kidneys, etc.. People on PD have sex just fine, catheter is tucked away on special adhesive bandage.
Tell that to the lady can no longer have a transplant and no she has no immune system disease she got her kidney failure due to High blood pressure, Doc told her that cos of this kinda of dialysis she will no longer be able to have a transplant, Mayb its a one off but thats what they said
well Not all people are the same, Maybe it was fine for you but bad for her. Different strokes for different folks . You shouldnt put people in the same category
Um yea this is my wife talking from personal experience, She had a transplant in 2005 and it failed in 2009. we are doing well and for any women who has been threw this much pain I am inclined to listen and respect her testimony on anything that ills her. Live it love it and move on.
my mum has kidney failure and a rare case, she has to many antibodies in her blood so finding a kidney for her is extremely difficult the only person who can donate is her brother who lives in a different country. my sister is 14 and i am 15 this was a great film thanks. =] x
