  • I just purchased a vintage Penncrest (JCPenney) made by Lakewood from eBay. It's around 40 years old. That fan is built tough compared to what they sell in the stores now. I added a few drops of 3n1 oil to the ports. Is that a good oil to use?

  • How often will you need to repolish those blades? Do the polish intervals increase when used in high activity areas like the bedroom?

  • I use wd-40

  • Back in the day, Lakewood was the bomb. Too bad they went under thanks to walmart pushing them to move production to China.

years ago, my folks had a p25 than ran for almost 20 years before it died.

Check out my vids, I have more to add.

  • Where did buy the zoom spout oil at?

  • I think the blades look like the crappy Lakewood P-25 from 2007 and i had one and i used it to cool my attic for 1 month and the motor burned out and i put my old fan i found at the dump in the meatal trash bin and it had all steel construction and it was running form 10:00am to 6 pm because it gets so hot in my attic and my ac keeps running til i put the fan up and i save 12 bucks a month!

  • color is

  • what year is

  • There is a "3" on the blade hub; 1973 maybe?

  • runs great, and looks great!

  • Low on this fan actually sounds more like medium on the 3-speed version.

  • What brand of polish did you use for the blades?

  • I actually just used Old English Furniture Polish which is probably not the best thing but I did not have any true metal polishes at the house. Other fan enthusiasts like Spats Bear have recommended Novus brand polishes which I'm sure work better.

  • Thanks.

  • Very Nice :) I am trying to find some older box fans. I like Lakewood the most. I have 2 P-25 box fans, they are really good, but I do hope to find some older Lakewoods. Do you know how old this one is?

  • Very nice fan.

That Zoom Spout oil is about the best to use on old fans for the reason you mention, it doesn't gum up. It really is made for motors like those on these fans. I use it on all of my fans.

  • Great fan! I am the same way with needing one running all the time.

Since it is really cold 8-9 months of the year in Michigan, I use a heater or just leave my computer on during the winter. I can't wait for it to warm up enough to start using my box fans again.

  • Thanks for your comments! Here I run fans constantly the whole year through...if the air stream is too cold I just turn it away from me but I still have the sound and the air movement in the room.

  • nice fan i have been looking for one of these they have great power

  • lakewood has been products of my home for many years. neve rhad a problem withthem. Love what you do here. i love vintage things.

  • Thanks for your comments! These old Lakewoods just seem to keep going and going.
