Man when Dr. Baker is crying you got to feel so sorry for him. He gave everything to that town and always got so little back in return. Also, you can tell how lonely the guy must be all those years and never a girlfriend or family. Him and Mr. Eddwards are my favorite characters. Poor Dr. baker =(

DOC Baker was wrong in one thing. He down played the sick mule as his patient. That mule may've been just an animal, but it was as valuable to that old man as a wife or child cuz that was all he had in the world. That was his family. So someone in town still trusted him, but he didn't see it that way.

No, they were exhausted...remember they were all taking shifts caring for Rose around the clock. Notice the next morning, after getting some rest, they were prepared to thank Doctor Baker for all he had done, but he'd already left.

The last thirty or so seconds of this video was hard to watch, and I saw Doc Baker's breakdown coming from a mile away. I have to wonder if he had been second-guessing himself about the baby boy's death, wondering if he DID miss something. Either way, you can see how stunned and hurt he was by Laura's accusations.

Then to be thanked like that...It's no surprise that he left the house to cry in private. He deserved better, but at least Laura reached out to him in the end and apologized.

Mr. Edwards became an alcoholic after his oldest son died and Grace (his wife) kicked him out. He came back to Walnut Grove, hurt Albert in a buggy DUI accident, and Laura helped him recover after Charles refused to have anything to do with him following the accident; he and Charles eventually reconciled, of course, but I don't think he and Grace ever did.

No, he did not. In the book "The First Four Years" he was not named. Also, in a book about Rose, after a neighbor's baby boy dies Laura states that she regrets not naming her son. The Rose Year books are by Roger Lea MacBride and later by his daughter after his death. He was an "adopted" grandchild (considered a grandchild) to Rose Wilder Lane.

You are welcome. I do not remember the name of the book. It is by Roger Lea MacBride and is at least book 3 in the series I think maybe book 5. Anyway, if you check the index, the name of the chapter is "A Mother Never Forgets". Rose was actually old enough to remember a little and Laura talked to her about that time and told her that she may never mention him but that she had never forgotten.
