Using that mined Darwin quote is incredible; hard to decide whether it adds weight to the hypothesis that Ray's a cynical, lying scum-bag or simply that stupid himself. And I'm not sure which would be worse.

Even if you only see that quote without the sentence that followed it, come on! If you don't know that "seems, I freely confess, absurd" does NOT mean "IS absurd", you're seriously lacking in English comprehension skills and clearly not qualified to debate your way out of a paper bag.

Darwin's undeniable link with Hitler: 1) AH did not, as most creationists repeatedly lie, refer to Darwin in Mein Kampf - not even once. 2) AH denied speciation was possible and called such ideas an affront to the Lord. 3) There is no record of AH ever mentioning Darwin, in public or private, but he must have done as Darwin's famous book, along with all writings referring to it, was on the Nazi forbidden reading list, removed from all libraries & wherever it was found and burned.

Ray Comfort is an odd sort. Why are some personality types prone to this one road thought process? That's the key. There are folks who behave this way who haven't gone the religious route but 'see' only one way in other core beliefs/behaviors. Weird psychological phenomena in my opinion. Thankfully most of these folks never get to be a huge threat. In this amateur analysis I equate a Hitler with a Ray Comfort. Same one track...diff. message maybe but same unyielding 'one-way' thought process.

But do we care what a man who came up with the foundational idea of the Theory of Evolution believed. Today his ideas are still around, they are not biased through ideas of faith. Like Qdragon says, it does not matter.. It does not matter how you think, just how accurate your thought are, and if they are not they are not wort thinking, at least that my take on this.

To give Comfort his due - he begins the introduction with a potted history of Darwin's life which seems to ring true.

Then the bullshit starts.

And by the end of the 50 pages, it's all "be saved through Jesus or burn in hell" stuff - any pretense to impartiality is completely gone.

But when he was offered the once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel around the world on The Beagle, he changed his mind when seeing the natural world and also the terrible treatment that humans were capable of meting out to each other.

Deism was probably where he was until he really researched his new theory.

When his 1st daughter died of a genetic disease caused by his marriage to his cousin, he lost all faith in a God.

good video, but I don't like the way you nearly didn't qualify the statement about science knowing a lot. Science does know alot about what we can observe, but there may be something different going on that would explain things in more detail, even in things that there is a lot of evidence, we still may yet to say "this was a decent model, but it wasn't correct"

What if Comfort very well knows that he's talking about a thesis without basis? I can't believe someone who has actually opened a book about evolution or genetics actually could sit there and truly believe evolution says such silly things. Like the latest video I saw of him, where he states a dog must have evolved next to a female dog to be able to breed and seems to imply dogs evolved directly from something without eyes, tail or genitalia.
