most ppl dont kno this but when van halen got michael anthony he was a guitarist and they said well if he can play guitar we can take the b and e string off and he can play bass
@oldschoolHalen Absolutely wrong. He played Bass in a band called Snake previous to VH, and has said in many interviews how his father was a famous musician (polka music) who bought him his first bass and amp at a yard sale while Mike was still in his teens. Your story is probably about someone else.
Not a bad cover by one of my favorite bands - Van Halen. I agree that Alex Van Halen is a good drummer, but he isn't the best of all-time. I'd probably put the drummer from The Who (Keith Moon), the drummer from Rush (what's his name, Neil something), and the drummer from Jimi Hendrix's band above Alex Van Halen.
Notice I said " one of". It's all a matter of opinion. Al probably grew more than any other member of VH from OU812 thru Balance, as far as ability. He has very difficult timing.
This band got the world's greatest drummer, guitarist, basist and vocalist when they were togerther. And they also got greatest showman when Dave was in the band. They were the greatest band in the world.
Amazing. I hear so many peaple rag on Micheal Anthony. If you forget for a moment that your listening to one of the greatest guitarists and drummers, Mike is pretty damn good. I didn't realize it until I tried to play his shit. He's damn quick.

Here's what this is from.
Ive had this on VHS since 1994.
It was a satellite show for record store buyers shot @ 5150 live in 1993.
It was used to promote the live cd/vhs "RHRN".
The first part of the show was VH taking ?'s from people on the phone.
Then 3 suites came out and talked about the cd and vhs tapes.
Then VH walked into the studio and played 2 songs.
"Dreams" and Won't get fooled again".
I still have the vhs tape but im sure someone has this whole thing on youtube.
