I left school the year this came out and so some of the words are rather pertanent to Me.."take Yor hands off Me I don't belong to You ,You see" etc,etc Best decision I ever made
I didn't appreciate Marc Almond at the time he released this and other wonderful songs - being a BOF I thought Dylan was the man, but Marc is a supreme poet. Great song.
As far as I know Marc Almond and Dave Bell (Soft Cell) wrote this song. 'Tainted Love', 'What' and 'Where Did Your Love Go' where not Soft Cell originals but I'm almost certain this was.
@houzbizness303 Quite correct...Tainted Love was released in 1965 by Gloria Jones and was written by Ed Cobb..The soft cell version however sold far more copies and made Marc Almond and David ball stars...Say hello wave goodbye was written By Marc and David and is a better song.
Soft Cell wrote this song but this is not the original video, the original video has Marc as a night club singer sat on a bar stool singing whilst Dave Ball waits outside the Pnk Flamingo night club in the rain, with two dwarfs popping champagne.
@jenescarlett1 Yes, Marc's soulful lyrics mix so well with the synthesizers. Pure human emotion against electronics, yet the electronics perfectly accompany Marc's soul.
hey it wasnt new to be a goth when this was out..i was one back in the 70s...was called all kinds of names for it..lmao..i love marc almond,he has a brilliant voice..x
