There is no harm in singing this moving Kaddisch in French occasionally. This is a consumate and heartfelt performance of Maurice Ravel's setting- let the French language version focus our thoughts on those who were cruelly deported and murdered following the 'Round Up' in Paris-- innocent men, women and children. May they rest in peace.
I think it was 'cause Ravel had obviously the sense of sound and music, and there's no doubt french is infinitely more musical and more beauty than the rude and noisy hebraic, and beside 'cause he was not compossing a religious work but a wonderful dark and rather bitter song, no more...
It's usually sung in the original Hebrew. Jessye Norman's recording is a reference, so are those of José Van Dam and Gérard Souzay and Bernard Kruysen.
@tervito it is in Aramaic not Hebrew. there is a legend that the angels wanted to steal all the "great" Hebrew songs, but because the angels don't understand Aramaic , this prayer was written in that language.
@bruckner4444-Is German then a sweet language, and if so I have the address of a good ear specialist. The sentence could well have remained articulated without the rude remark.
You don't need be jewish, neither beleave in God, neither understand the text, as happened with me during years, and the song and the voice are equaly beauty. For me, this hasn't enrichead with the knowledge of the text, perhaps au contraire....
A glorious, reverent, transcendental performance by the miraculous Victoria de los Angeles. Many, many thanks for uplaoding this treasure. Could you ro someone please upload her magnidicent recordings of Ravel's SHEHERAZADE and FIVE GREEK SONGS?
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He,beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that
are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen. May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.
Glorified and sanctified be God's great name throughout the world which He has created according to His will.May He establish His kingdom in your lifetime and during your days,
and within the life of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon; and say, Amen. May His great name be blessed forever and to all eternity.

The text of the Kaddish in English (Part II)
Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, adored and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He,beyond all the blessings and hymns, praises and consolations that
are ever spoken in the world; and say, Amen. May there be abundant peace from heaven, and life, for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. He who creates peace in His celestial heights, may He create peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen.
