  • glad you have this vid. jus seen them in ohio jan 24 2012 and they ddnt do it... ;-( but the concert rocked!

  • I fucking love this tune.., I'd kill a man to see Tool live.

  • "Ignorant fibbers in the congregation spewing sympathy, spare me"

  • audio is pretty bad

  • Ok, found this out, what you need to do is this. Play "Viginti Tres" and "Wings for Marie [Pt, 1]" together, then play those two together whilst playing 10,000 days [Pt, 2], it is epic! Weird, it is in sync perfectly with all words surpassing each other perfectly, Maynard new what he was doing, but Tool wont emit this.. i think the three tracks together are called "Voltron". I did this by using Ableton, and putting each track in three audio lanes. then pressed play then.. i believe i passed out.

  • @TigerEyeJewel yeah. thats been there for quite a while lol.

  • you think this song is good? imagine if you were judith listening to it

  • I was at this show, zomg!

  • Tool has done things no band has ever done and may never acheive. Every fan has been impacted by tool for the better. Tool has definately changed my outlook on life and I can listen to them every day from Undertows intolerance to viginti tres on 10000 days. Their music never gets old and will always be relevent.

  • @mattbassace what about there albumn opiate?

  • @alfoot66 It wasn't an album it was an EP. There are some good songs on there but they didn't shine until Undertow. And never seized to amaze since.

  • @mattbassace Since you're in the 'EP/album' correcting mood, it's CEASE, not seize.

  • Genius.

  • For the love of all fuck, please stop putting your hand over the camera's speaker....

  • @00roastedlampost00 is that why its completely panned to the right ear? its annoying!

  • @00roastedlampost00 He was probably in stealth mode trying to hide the camera....

  • So beautiful.

  • how packed was this place. verizon wireless arena is not big enough for a tool concert lol

  • Tool's existence is the greatest thing that ever happened to this world! Others may have a different subjection but I don't!

  • I can listen to this verse all day. Such a powerful vocal performance. It seems as if he's beginning to lose his voice, however.

You're the only one who can hold your head up high,

Shake your fists at the gates saying:

    "I've come home now!

Fetch me the spirit, the son, and the father.

Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.

    It's time now!

    My time now!

Give me my, give me my wings!"

  • too loud drum kicks, they blow my headphones :(

  • hahaha nice pic for the video. square and compass

  • I cried. There are no words to describe this song

  • The solo is very simple yet powerful. And the drumming during the solo is really awesome.

  • i would love to see tool live however I live in england and there never over here :/

  • thanx 4 the vid!!! ive looked awhile 4 this live version, its rare :)))))))))) i jus stumbled on it, fuckin A right! this was prolly the most memorable of 6shows, but at the same time kinda sorta due to intoxications...the following spring was pretty sic too! the clouds...

  • i wonder how pissed maynard is when he finds live vids on youtube lol maybe he tracks you XD

  • @winja21 he'll use his magic powers and brainwash you and make you do sick and twisted things to your and your friends families...........and then he will make you molest yourself and jump into a meatgrinder.

  • give me my wiiinnngsssss:) I think if i was able to go to a tool concert everyday i dont think id ever stop

  • if you have ever been to a tool show.. you would know that recordings dont sound so great, because they play their music SO FUCKING LOUD.. tool is amazing live.. you all should be happy that someone had the balls to record it.. they are very strict with there no camera policy.

  • im sad. i havent seen them yet at all. my life is not complete.

  • Dudes in the background talking nonstop. Sorry but I think I would be dead silent from start to finish. Probably just won tickets and thought, "Fuck it, don't know who they are but lets go get drunk and talk and bug every true fan, and just flat out not understand." I just don't get it but there is my rant for the day...June 29 Red Rocks can't wait

  • Just relish what you know...don't compare, don't wonder...just live it....they would not want you..any other way...wink, wink...

  • nice compression.

  • I was at this show,Best band best shows hands down.

  • the sound is so bad...

  • Tool sounds better LIVE than on their CDs, how can they possible be bad?

  • It's like a rave show..Lol. Tool is bad ass. Favorite band.

  • the lightshow is so incredible

  • seriusly, what we gonna do when the lights go down?

    eventually, it will happens.

  • super bad quality

  • I have been to 24. 33 is serious and everyone I go to is just as exciting as the 1st

  • should of just looked quiksherm knows wats up

  • i wanna say it was in 06' and i was like 20 feet behind/above this shot...Aug 2nd is goin to be a fuckin blast hahaha

  • August 7th baby!!!!

    cinnci!!!

  • I love youtube because of the live Tool recordings available. I will be at the NH show on august 2nd and can't wait! This will be my 33rd Tool show and I'm just as excited about this as the very 1st one!

  • 33rd? Holy shit. I'm going to the show on the 2nd as well, can't fuckin' wait.

Anyone know when this show was?

  • This show was October 3rd 2006

  • 33 shows is crazy...i'm going to see them for my 2nd time at lollapalooza and i feel like i've been listening to them for a lifetime (2001actually) and have seen them 100 times. What the hell are we all going to do when there is no more tool....either find the nearest bridge or stop listening to music alltogether....I never thought I could be and never will be again captivated, transformed, inspired with any other band like we all are with Tool....Fuck me, Fuck us, please let this last forever!

  • Listen to the cd's lol

  • @pOOpsMy3rdEYE What are we gonna do when the tool goes out...no more.... other than tremble incessantly?

  • @pOOpsMy3rdEYE i think i'm going to cry with this captivating story

  • whose the fucking douche talking the whole damn song?

  • that's Maynard

  • strange seeing maynard on stage. everytime ive seen him live (3 tool shows 1 APC show) hes hiding in the shadows.

  • Thank you! I've been wondering what phrase is good enough to describe what Maynard's doing at the shows. Hiding in the shadows :)

  • I need this song at least once a day. If I don't get my fix, I go on a crazy killingspree thoughout the town (=

  • I love this song, it is so emotional. Going to see them in Manchester NH on August 2nd!

  • *high fives* Mee too!

this will be be sixth time!

  • is there a good recording of the live version, for sale anywhere? Maynard sounds so much more passionate live.

  • For sale? No. There are several bootlegs floating around. I could send you an entire concert (this one if you want) for free. And by the way, Maynard has no problem with bootlegs, as long as you don't profit from it.. And might I suggest attending one of their concerts this summer.

  • Excuse me?!?! Tool is touring again!! Where did you hear this from!!

  • To the guy who recorded this.

Thanks for holding your arm in the air recording this song (and the first part of it).

One of my favorite songs by Tool. :D

  • bien sostenida esa camara men¡¡

    gracias

  • Great performance of this great song. Probably Tool's most epic masterpiece.

  • I am a drummer and danny carey fucking speaks to me.. but i am horrible at analyzing lyrics. this song is about his mother....right? someone help me out

  • Wings for Marie, and 10,000 days were both written by Maynard for his mother, who suffered a paralyzing stroke when he was 11.

  • It was for his mother, whose middle name was Marie. She had a stroke and was paralyzed for 27 years before she passed away, 27 years after. 27 years multiplied by 365 days is 9,855, about 10,000 days. That's it in a nutshell.

  • judith by a perfect circle as well..

  • yep

  • yes, the whole album is dedicated to her, the song describes his disgust with her funeral precedings, how he felt somewhat inadequate as her son, and basically a last bon voyage to his mother in her journey to the next life

  • Next life?

Maynard believes in the "death is just like it was before you were born, but forever" philosophy.

  • lol athetism. verdenelo ur a dumb fuck, get off. you are exactly what the band is fighting against. a bunch of tools, you're obession with maynard isnt any different than the stuff tool talks about in their music

  • Obsession because I know one thing about him?

Learn to spell before you lash out at me like a five year old, tool.

  • he's not an aethiest, he just doesn't believe in the trash brainwashing tool called religion, he is a spiritual guy wiho also studies the occult.

  • That's because it's true, birth and death are the same moment essentially. But he also never talks about "next life" or reincarnation, that doesn't mean he doesn't believe in it. In life, especially within occult teachings, you return to the state you came in as you birthed. Then you move on depending on what it is you have to learn. Anyways, good stuff.

  • i think maynard would agree y does anyone give a fuck what he believes in

  • jimmy is in a dark place on this one.

  • i agree this song must be so difficult to play for maynard on an emotianol level but its why the songs so good. Most amazing music is written when someones experiencing massive amounts of a certain emotion.

  • Look Him in the eye, look Him in the eye, and tell Him:

"I never lived a lie, never took a life, but surely saved one.

  • whenever i compare a song to a piece of art i compare it to this song since this song is a masterpiece

  • the most well played song on the cd. perfect. my personal favorite song on the cd.

  • perfection is the illusion of fulfillment

  • I wonder what the new album will be like, they've perfected music to me, how can they get any better?

  • i dont know man i think bout that too. how can you write a better song than rosetta stoned or 10,000 days or even lateralus

  • my thoughts exactly, in some ways i wish id never got in to tool, because no other band lives up to my expectations any more

  • I thought the same man...then I found Opeth. Problem solved lol

  • my solution is to not listen to tool for a couple of months,it helps me appreciate different styles and feelings in other music, and research there are a fuckload of great bands out there(were)

  • I can easily tell why he doesn't want to perform the songs he wrote about his ailing mother a lot live, they were more written as a gift or homage to her than something that's intended to be commercialized.

  • They are truly AMAZING, Live and in the Studio. Just fucking amazing!!!

    Cheers,

    RRKS

  • This and Parabola. Best songs ever. Still have to listen to the other songs of Tool.

  • sucks that maynard doesn't want to play these songs anymore... i guess they really fuck him up emotionally... I can see why

  • It's a shame. When I saw them live in '06 and they did Wings for Marie/10,000, the light spectacle was absolutely breathtaking. One of the greatest things I've witnessed in my life.

  • Agree. Absolutely

  • i love tool with all my heart!!

  • this as well is my favorite song by tool, i like how in this vid theres some guy singing along with the song hahaha if he didnt sound half retarded it would be great hahaha its so awesome that you captured this on tape good job dude your the man

  • Favorite song.

  • have these ever been in denmark hor sweeded or gemany?

  • All three.

  • I love this band I hope to see them on tour again. I can not wait.

  • i'm DEF seeing them as soon as they come around again. and i hope to god they play this song

  • monkey see , monkey learn to do, there is no try?!

  • MJK MY FAV. Lyricsist, NOBODY HAS WRITEN LYRICS LIKE MJK. THIS SONG IS ONE AWESOME PIECE OF ART.

  • @miller8605 That's because he's the only one writing from the heart that doesn't get turned into some American Idol spoonfed pop wonderfuck....

  • @miller8605 What an ignorant thing to say, I think Maynard would be the first to disagree with you. I'm assuming you're very young and have little knowledge of art & poetry in general though, which is fine.

  • @ISISbandLive You are an idiot, stop listening to tool

  • @jem7vwhgod You are a moron, judging by the way you've likely misunderstood what I said. I was saying that person was ignorant for claiming this is the be all and end all of poetry/music. Nicely done though, moron.

  • This is so fucking eMOTIONAl and one of the best songs of Tool. I love this band!

    Gotta see them live

  • this light show is enough to make chuck norris cry.

  • so wings is the cure for cancer?

  • Of course. Chuck norrys did the illumination.

  • ths is manchester tennessee not newhampshire @ bonoroo tool kicks @ss

  • dude, this song is one of TOOL's best creations ever.these guys are amazing. it sucks, though, how long it takes for them to release and album. Tool rocks

  • 3rd or 2nd best show iv been to, was at the dublin show. can only be tooped by their download festival preformance.

  • Tool the best band in the world!

  • i was at this exact show, within arms reach of maynard. iv never had a better day in my life.

  • Very useful comment. You're the one who should kill himself.

  • oh so it was you then

  • James is right. The guy singing along is a douche.

  • I watched this live.... it was ridiculous how brilliant it was

  • there is only one explanation for why any of these guys could have as much talent as they do...

they all came together one day and agreed to sell their souls to become the greatest musicians of all time...

  • totally true dude!

  • I fuckin love these guys great fuckin talent worship danny!

  • even when they play this one live it really sounds good. this song is really powerfull. The cills run down my spine listening to this, it really is something different, not only by Tool, but also in the metalscene

  • haha yea im "on weeeed" and this is fuckin trippy! ahh warm feelings

  • ahh I tried to listen to the whole 10,000 days album on acid and weed and it was SO Fucking Intense.

  • Aye, had some mad experiences listening to this :P

  • they bounce "it" around their metric with frightening precision

  • Have you ever heard this song on ......weeeeeed ?

  • Such a funny movie.

  • The guy who screams at 9:05 is an ass hahaha

  • Jesus, Danny Carey nails this song note-for-note live! Incredible

  • The setup in the San Francisco show was exactly the same. From the stands you can also see how the stage is pure white so it can be used as a projector screen that works in conjunction with the 4 giant screens behind them. In one track, the whole stage would look like running water. And whenever they'd play some really mean chords, the water would turn into white rapids. It looked like tons of water spilling off the stage.

  • that would be flood, off of undertow. which was pretty damn awesome that they decided to include that in the setlist this tour.

  • yea tool great fucking band!!!

  • This is such an amazing song, and I never appreciated it and gave it a chance until just recently. Creepy, melancholy, not sure how to phrase it. It just crescendos into an amazing musical flood toward the end.

I would love to see this live.

  • it is a great song,a real slow burner, just like queensryches sister mary song .also the end by the doors

  • I was in the floor section. Great concert, but could someone tell me the purpose of these people waving their hands. There really fucking up the show for the people behind them.

  • I was at this show on the floor. A-fucking-mazing concert and song.

  • MJK is just... fuckin amazing. he's probably the best lead singer of the last years. he breeds carisma and spits art. art!

  • Wonderful choice of words.

  • MJK this MJK that what about TOOL?

  • MJK.. Maynard James Keenan

    lead singer of TOOL

  • I know who fucking Maynard is, I'm just sayin the whole band is genious Maynard is only 1/4 of the band.

  • Maynard is a genius song writer, but Tool would not be Tool without the others...Justin has really contributed to their evolution with 10,000 Days....he fucking shines on that album.

Plus, Danny is as good in his line has it gets.

And Adam is my fucking guitar God. He's a great player, but his original style is what gets me.

    They all contribute...

  • I am sorry, but Maynard is not a song writer at all. Whole album 10 000days was prepared by the rest of members(without lyrics and singing). Was almost recordet, when Maynard come back from APC "project" and made his work. He only put his part to finished work. YES, MJK is fucking GOD!!! The Best one!!! But Tool are 4 people!!! Four Gods! Goodnight :-)

  • i absolutely agree that TOOL consists of a group of brilliant people, but maynard is most certainly a song write. this song, as id hope everyone already knows, is about HIS mother. anyway, great composition and overall performance of an incredible song.

  • that is actually not true. Lateralus was done like that, but they had email contact throughout the whole time. Maynard missed at most a month of writing for Lateralus, however they emailed music to him, he emailed vocal ideas, lyrical ideas, musical ideas, etc. As for 10,000 Days, he was there for the majority

  • Amazing bootleg video! I give you props for pulling it off. Decent audio and visual. You stood next to guys who can't sing in key too huh? It was an amazing show from an amazing band that never stops putting out great material!

  • witout doubt one of the only true bands left in the music industry not marred by mtv or commercialism. amazing

  • MJK does it again.

  • I was crying when I saw this live...it was just that amazing...6-9-07 Atlantic City, Boardwalk Hall, it was...mind blowing! The whole concert was! Lateralus was amazing that day too! But yes, this is probably one of their best.

  • This song I know hits a lot of people for different reasons, but it always brings me back to my friend who was suffering for almost 10 years and on his death bed I remember him being as peaceful as he ever was in his life, and actually...happy. Morbid I know, but his suffering was almost at an end and he knew it. This song reminds me of him, and when I saw it live...I broke down.

  • i saw tool in Winston-Salem in june

they blew me away and have since been my fav band

i was in the fourth row and had a good view of mayanrd and adam

i wish i could see justin killing that bass though

  • When I heard them play this song live in Detroit I was just blown away. They even have the rain and thunder playing live just as they do on the album. Most amazing song Tool has ever written.

  • Saw Tool in May this year...Maynard's voice is hypnotic.

This was filmed from about where I was at.

  • Amazing vid/audio...Didn't go to this show spec, but when they reached the peak of this song, not gonna lie, I was crying like a baby, Maynard's voice is sooooo fuckin stunning, not to mention the rest of the band, nearly orgasmic....

  • Love Tool. =)=)=)

4.9. I'm going to Tool koncert in Zagreb. Can't wait. =)

  • just saw them in richmond a couple of months back it was amazing the sound the lights the atmosphere awesome

  • i saw tool in hamilton they were insane, so fuckin loud the best part was when the green lights came on!!! trippy

  • Copes? I saw them there too, so fuckin baked!

  • when i saw tool and they played 10,000 days i was on the verge of crying

most incredible thing i've ever head and seen... hands down, i cant wait till the next time i see them

  • i fuckin bawled i won't even lie.

  • I wish this git would stop fucking with the volume.

  • clearly, you've never seen a tool concert and heard how loud they are. he isn't fucking with the volume, it's just cutting out because the bass and music is so bloody loud

  • like maynard said that if he were king of america every home would have a copy of peter gabriel's "the passion". if i was king of america ppl wouldnt go to church they would go to a tool concert. and every home would have lateralus.

  • this song live is such a phenomenal moment.

  • I went to this show. Greatest time of my life. Tool is such a moving band. Incredible.

  • saw them september 2001, fantastically powerful group, and fortunate enuf to be going tonight :)one of my alltime favorites

  • e-n-o-u-g-h

  • i really hope that they come back to orlando because they hands down put on the best concert of my life

  • i saw them a few days ago and it was the best moment of my life.

  • Tool is so fuckin awesome! Keep on inspiring us!

  • god knows what i would give to go to a tool concert

  • i saw them just a few days ago again, they ARE incredible...just incredible.
