Probably never. There are too many stations owned by too many smaller companies. It will take an amazingly large series of company buyouts and mergers before it happens, as happened in the UK.
As playout facilities are consolidated in central locations, and branding plays more of a part in the "image" of a channel, this will continue to happen everywhere. See, as a case in point, the complete decimation of the ITV regions here in the UK.
Also, that old HNIC music cue was fantastic. The 90s era music sounds so great.
