  • Since when does it make sense to twin turbo charge a GSX? It wouldn't be very efficient, one turbo is enough...I have only seen it done once....with a lot of expense and very little in return. I'd like to see the engine and see actual dyno run before believing this...That run looks like about a 12 second run...any good tuner can make a GSX do that easily. I only speak from experience though...not the great wealth of knowledge that I see represented here...

  • @booofy Well the theory is that two turbos would produce some less lag and more torque at lowRPM. If you want response, you need a good torque before a good power top end. If you can afford a lighter turbo for fast starting, and a heavier one for "take off", then you may get the best result. Built on a 4 cylinders, it seems a good thing. But it is expensive... and a simple big turbo + Synchronic POV (to air bypass) seems also to give good results.

    Cons: You will get bagged on for a 4cyl, nothing beats the sound of a SBC, if you spin you break a T-case (get a John Shep Tcase problem cured), Not super reliable, have to change oil alot due to turbo.

With my compound set-up I have a turbonetics t4 60-1 turbo and mhi e3b16g and i am making 675 hp and 592 lb/ft torque and am running high low 9 and if its a 1/4 mile from where they started to the light he ran it in 15 seconds thats a stock time whoever made this vid is a retard........   • i don't think that eclipse was boosted i have ran them when my z28 was stock and they hang right in there till 40 or so before i really started to pull away... though i did have 273 rear gear at the time

  • Listen I am not a a complete idiot when it comes to cars or modification but if I'm not mistaken there are more factors that go into a fast cars begin fast then just the size of the motor, with that being said the motor plays a very large roll in the definition of what is a fast car, also things to factor in are the power to weight ratio, gearing, torque, among with a few others. And when it comes to racing said cars, if you can't drive you 400-500 hp car then that power isn't really going to

The 80's and 90's camaros with 4 cylinders and v6's aren't worth a shit, but the LS1 motor is fast, but its a V8

  • @Lestkn2 Well, it does point me towards the engineering. Knowing that the STi can do so much with only 4 cylinders makes it that much more attractive. I am pretty sure that a V10 engine is even more powerful, and better than a V8 having more power, but for a four cylinder car, would yo not agree that at only 2.5L engine, the WRX STi is revolutionary in doing what most cars couldn't? I find it amazing since so much power comes from so little. The Mustang comparatively should be in supercar level.

However, I am not dumb enough to deny that 300 hp on a four cylinder version is a rarity, and does baffle me because of so much in so little. I like V8's, but I am not biased, or even stereotypical over cylinders. Subaru looks boy racerish, but they are fast, and did beat other cars on several factors. That's all.

  • @Lestkn2 Thank you for understanding. A 4 banger giving 300 hp amazes me, because it takes less gas to give you that much power. A V8 is good, and all, but until recently, it was hard to buy a V8 which gave you that much power. The Mustang GT until 2010 only had 311 or so hp. Now, the Camaro SS, and Mustang GT have more power, but even then it does not come with 600 hp on stock versions. Getting more power from engine can be expensive too through mods, instead of stock.

I tune Subarus and Evo's and DSM's pretty much weekly and so far all the subaru's making 500hp have blown up in a few months after being tuned. Perfect A/R's, perfect mapping and they just can't handle it. Evo's are beast's on the other hand, they are tried and proven motors.

  • @RichRusso4218 Hmm. What do you do with all that power though. A Subaru makes 300 hp which is plenty fast for the engine, does good cornering, can seat five people, and is a rally car. I am not sure if a Mustang can do all that effectively. Sure you can make faster, but a skyline is also fast with 1000 hp. Also only so much time is spent actually racing. Mostly, day to day drive-ability comes into play.

  • ive seen at the 2009 dsm shoot out at buschur a compound turbod eclipse. a tt setup that the supras use were a smaller turbo spools up a bigger turbo. it peaks at 40psi and is no joke look it up on here i found it under "compound turbo dsm" so you can do it!

  • To avoid the AWD problem get them on a roll. Got a lightly modded GTP and it destroys them on a roll. Still take them off the line but takes around 60-70 before I start pulling past.

  • for 1 im not talking about a gtp. for 2 my little v6 does fine against TURBO dsm's, 3 last time i weighed my car it was 3100 with a full tank, my little honda is 2900 with a full tank, and i doubt a full weight fwd dsm is much lighter, and yeah its got 10 more hp than mine but mine has 11 more torque and i dont have turbo lag. and sorry buddy, but my poor little v8 only has about 150 more hp and gobs more torque and might weigh 3-400 pounds more. and personally in the v6 ive beat modded gst's.

  • @TheLeeno A gtp will usually do 14.9-15.0 bone stock with an average joe driving. They have 240hp 280ft lbs stock, ive seen them go as low as 14.50 stock (a 1998 daytona edition did this). Stock vs stock gsx and gtp is a very good match but a gtp might edge out a gsx at the line. For modding, gtp's can be made fast just as easily as dsm's. High 12s for about $1500 (if you do the work yourself) in a full weight 3500lb fwd automatic car, pretty impressive.

  • @circlelt1 um ya i read 200 hp 220 trq, so not sure where your getting your #'s, but the 15second ish, to mid 15's is about right, I dont know about 14.5 "STOCK", but I'll give it to you. GSX's are known to run low 14's "STOCK" put $200 in it and you can hit 13's, unfortunatley the GTP is a SHITbox as far as performance goes, the mistu 4g63 is WAY better of a platform, and it's a 2.0 four banger. Can you even get a gtp stick? GAY.

  • @TheLeeno The 200hp gtp's are the 3.4 DOHC gtp's, which got replaced by the 3800s/c in 1997. Everyone knows they are 240hp for the series 2 3800s/c. The series 1 has 205hp but those never went in gtp's, the ssei's and regals got those pre-97. The video of the stock 14.5 is on streetfire and might be on here too. The gtp is a great platform, and although they dont come with a stick, They wouldnt be any faster with a stick, its one of the few cars that are actually quicker with an auto.

  • Not a TT GSX thats for sure. I have worked on plenty of eclipses and there just isn't enough room to do twin turbo. You can gain just as much power with going with a big single turbo and it's a hell of alot less of a hassle.

  • getalife04 is right. There's no way you could fit a TT in an Eclipse.

  • I agree with getalife04 as well, no point in installing a TT system when one can do the job. both drivers sucked balls, the GSX would have killed it anyway.. power over weight ratio..

  • @getalife04 well if your gonna be doing street racing like that you want a smaller turbo not a big one.

  • @bigpeteswackshack Just depends on your preference really, small turbos spool quick BUT at the top end it doesn't have shit. For me on a WRX like I drive the best street turbo is like a VF39 or a VF22 and even a 16G or 18G turbo it's too bad either. The 18G is really the biggest you should go if it's a street car otherwise your lag will suck ass if you go bigger lol.

  • @getalife04 true. now heres somebody who actually knows something about cars. small (not to small though) turbos for low end torque for most street applications with no more than . but yes if your gonna run track racing you want between 16 and 18g for a higher pull and mid to high end torque

  • @bigpeteswackshack Yeah for wrx's the best over all street turbo is the VF39 or the VF22 hands down. Now the VF22 takes longer to spool but still spins up by 3200rpm but the VF39 (STi Turbo) spools up under 3,000 rpms and actually hold strong until 6000 rpms then it drops pretty quick for the final 7000 rpm redline. I build up these cars all the time and thats what I always recommend for everyone. Never seems to fail me lol.

  • @bigpeteswackshack LOL we all learn something from time to time. One thing I have learned in messing with cars is that you NEVER know everything lol. And yeah I am all man :D. And one thing I forgot was the VF22 is a great topend turbo they hold boost very nicely in the upper range hence the slower spool up. Really it all depends on the size/flow of the motor. More mods like heads and cams and stuff you can run a bigger turbo on the street. It really just depends on what you got. As you know lol

  • oh yes you can. they swap 3000gt vr-4 engine. but its a lot of work

  • @yanogly123 lol a lot of work is an understatement lol. I know some people that have done it and they wouldn't do it again if somebody paid them lol.

  • @getalife04 the only way u can put twin turbos in it is to replace the engine with 3000gt vr 4's engine , Its possible and i know people who did that ,

  • @akifmafia Yeah true I have seen it as well but really the 4G63 motor is great so why go through all that hassle? The vr4 engine is good but hell I'd just buy a VR4 and save myself the hassle lol. They aren't much heavier and have better differentials. Although the transfer case in both of them sucks.

  • @getalife04 VR4 twin turbo engines bolt into eclipses are are V6's. 6a12tt for the gsx/gst is bolt in. 6a13tt for the rs/gs is bolt in. So twin turbo can work in eclipses.

  • @getdrunk1990 yeah it's not insanely difficult to do it but the way I see it why bother doing that at all? The 4G63 motor is one of the best 4 cylinders ever made. So I see no point in changing that lol.

  • @getalife04 Theres a point in doing if you have a 420a eclipse.

  • @getalife04 a compound turbo setup I believe is the only 'twin' setup that has been done on these cars. it's possible but definitely a true TT setup is just not worth the time/bother to fit in there as you said.
