Yes, I noticed. And now I see this sort of thing all the time. I practically never take the Acela home now because the Acela is always just ahead or just behind the regional, on an adjacent track. Itʻs just not worth $50+ extra.
@GavinSimmons That could be true but there's a reason that it's called an EXPRESS.... It's an express train. It goes faster and is supposed to look better inside.
@DeltaPhi79 You donʻt live on the east coast do you? LOL
So on the inside it is A LOT nicer than a regional. Some of the interior updates to the Acela have come to the regional, but the Acela is still much nicer. The cafe interiors used to be the same, but they did reverted the regional to make the Acela stand out more.
As for this "express" stuff... I went to school in Philadelphia, but Iʻm from Maryland with a lot of family on long island (NY). So I took the Acela and Regional between DC, Philadelphia, and NYC a lot -and still do. Between DC and NYC the trains are limited to about the speed of the regional and most of the skippable stops are after New York. I donʻt think the Acela stops in Trenton. On average the Acela shaves just ten minutes for me. I only take it when I miss a regional
I admit the Acela is much more Posh than the regional though. Its brighter, roomier, etc. I met a really cute girl on there once, but the girls my age are more likely to be on the regional. Not worth the price jump. Iʻm looking at my ticket for tomorrow and Iʻm paying $47 for a regional that gets me home at 6:48 (leaves at 5:18) instead of $131 for an Acela that leaves at 5:30 and arrives at 6:45.
@GavinSimmons That makes sense. And before you assume where I live, I *LIVE* in Philadelphia. Don't try and make half a comment when I'm trying to be nice to you. I can see your point, although the times do still say it runs faster than the regional. I agree that it's not worth the extra money though *UNLESS* you need to go a lot farther and a lot faster than the regional wants to take you.
'nother great video

um, those were different tracks, right?

@GavinSimmons I know this is an EXTREMELY old comment but here goes...
Yeah they were on different tracks. If you look closely, the Metroliner is on the far left track and the Acela is on the one just next to it.
