I've tried in my backyard with normal shoes and was hardly able to do a 360 while on the ice I only need a little more to do a 540 . You noticed the same things while training off-ice?
@FrogonpG Yes. That's because while on the ice, you're using momentum to power your jumps. Every jump in the sport is an edge jump, so therefore you're putting speed and power into the edge of your blade, and the ice is pushing back just as hard, whereas off-ice, the surface you're jumping from is not pushing as hard back upon you. It's about energy transfer basically.
which skates are easier to use figure skating or the ones you have? ive only ever used figure skating ones so i woudlnt know i was wondering if you have used both or could give me some imput on it, thanks :)
Definitely awesome! Hitting a jump without a ramp or toe pick is a huge challenge. Great job Prolite, I will one day try to incorporate this into my tricks too.
Tell me about it. I've been working on this jump for a few years now and am still struggling with it. As soon as I figure out some secrets to do the Air Flow, I'll post it on my blog.
nevermind that u had the guts to attempt that jump in the first place u had the guts to do it in front of what looks like a public ice skating crowd...Good on U!
Practice your 360's off ice. Talk to a figure skating coach if you can. Ask them how to spin properly in the air. Spin the same way figure skaters do, except bring your legs up as high as possible. Start with 180's on the ice. Concentrate on technique, rather than power.

that was a very nice jump, any tips to spin faster?
whickedshell 1 year ago
@whickedshell You can pull your arms in faster. But that always screws up my jumps because I don't have them down so well yet. But try it.

@whickedshell ok thx i'll try

@xxx4everndalwaysxxx I've never used figure skates before, but I can tell you that Xtreme Ice Skates provide more support and are much stiffer.

No.. watch where my feet take off and where they land. I am about 45 degrees shy of an Air Flow 720. Have you tried the Flare Jump yet?
Prolite 3 years ago
