  • I think she should have flipped the other direction :O this way it looks a bit unnatural. I do love it though :D looks great otherwise!

  • Ghost in the Shell lol

  • Great animation but and I understand the whole scene is fantasy but the flip imo is too exaggerated. Maybe she should dive off and half turn then pull the rest towards the end. That would seem a little more feasible. Just trying to give constructive criticism.

  • i wish do that

  • Great !

  • nice job... i dont get it why people disliked it ofc this is the animation made in 3D the effects can be added later

  • jajajajajajaj greatt su motoco kusanagui

  • The modelings good. But as someone whos attempted free running, At the moment she's just casually moving her legs with very little force to do the somersault. To do somersault, you need to throw your arms over your head (unless your awesome at them) tilt your head back, arch your back, and curl into a ball... Now what your character is doing is very advanced, it's a gano (a somersault rotating backwards) without using the arms.... watch acrobatics frame by frame or master it yourself!!!

  • nice! this may sound dumb but how did you do the crack in the floor?

  • nice but you should work more on the flip cuz it's just unreal

  • Wow Amazing

  • how?

  • Youtube is certainly the place to be if you want wrong spellings, punctuation and incoherent nonsense from native English speakers.

It's amazing considering that most browsers have a spell checker these days.

  • the backflip is badass!

  • MAJOR! (Ghost in the Shell: SAC)

Awesome look and feel to the overall animation. I'd have to agree that the overall backflip isn't extremely convincing though. :'( Then again...she is a cyborg...*shrugs*

Maybe she gradually leans forward during the fall then uses her feet for momentum to catapult into a flip?

  • Is this Oni?

  • MOTOKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where can I find this model?

  • boobs

  • if you can't figure out a good back flip, cuting it could be need ( in the matrix this cind of fall are strate down) for the landind you need more Follow Through its a bit ridgid

So if iwas you i will use reference for the back flip and add more Follow Through to the landing .

Check book ''The ILLUSION OF LIFE'' its 2d animation but the principe are the same

  • I agree with everyone that says the backflip should have started right off the top

  • what's program you use??

  • @100karai Looks like Maya or 3DS max

  • so so

  • ya i think some reference will do

    nice tri

  • dont the annoying ppl know this i from ghost in the shell? pretty sure...

  • @kaliru1 I thought it looked really familiar. I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately said "Ghost in the Shell?"

  • GITS, nice

  • lol 0:05 remember me to Terminator movie :D

  • lol you guys who have never even taken a class on animation have no business telling this person to "look stuff up" or fix the so and so...

you cant do EVERYTHING on the computer noobs

  • nice work - this is really well done for a test animation. the figure does has a certain jauntiness as it falls into the flip, but it's still very well done! ^_^ keep it up - you've got some great detail going here, too!

  • A: Falling into a bellyflop then backflipping out looks stupid.

B: Why so much specular and gloss on the skin? Is she meant to be made of silicon? I would've only suspected the implants...

  • @BingtheLizard A: its a test

B: i dont think this person is gonna care

  • Good work.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!

  • The character... she looks like Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell! Is that who you modelled this character as? 8D

  • @KyokoFujita please tell me you mean myoko kusanagi from ghost in the shell?

  • @KyokoFujita whoops my bad please tell me you mean motoko kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell :)

  • @Acsmitte5

    Yes. That's who I mean. :D

  • @KyokoFujita I think it's not random. There's a scene where Kusanagi falls from a window. ^^.

    Nice job.

  • I like

  • nice job

  • How exactly did you do the ground shatter? It looks keyframed, but I can't think of a method

  • To start the rotation that late in the dive there would need to be some opposing force. Give her a big cat tail. That'd work.

  • why dont try a FRONT flip ? =3 it looks good but the problem is not the ''reference'' is the flip, making a backflip falling from that high, your body is more propense to go front than BACK =3 so a front flip will be more realistic

  • great animation......maybe when she flips bring her legs behind instead of in front of her.....also motoko is an awesome character...hope ya do more with her!

  • Good work, I kow animaton is a hard thing to do. In the future just try to make the transition from free fall to backflip moe convincing.

  • motoka =)

  • Watch high divers... if you want a flip in mid-air they tighten into a ball to accelerate their rotation then open up to reduce their rotation... same with gymnastics.

  • @3DVinci Conservation of momentum at work like a ice skater pulling their arms in to spin faster and spreading them to go slower.

  • Because this is anime the backflip works and the landing is cool.

    Nice animation.

A real person would die from this jump. A super person can flip anyway they want to.

  • she seems like she has no center of mass when she is turning, just like she is rotating on a pivot

  • Awesome!!

  • may not been the most reel backflip. but overall great work :)

  • motokoooooooooooooo!

  • For the sake that this is from an anime the flip is actually dead on, of course it wouldn't work that way in real life, but neither would diving off of a building. IMO this is very well done keep it up. Don't let others change your work if it looks good to you then keep it.

  • @blackbeltspeedy very well worded sireXD

  • @blackbeltspeedy If most of your body is a beefed up prosthetic designed for this sort of thing, sure you can jump off buildings. Not sure the city would like to repair all those side walks though...

  • Pretty smexy if I do say so myself.

  • OMFG! Major Motoko Kusanagi from GitS: Stand Alone Complex! *yay*

    This made my day ^___^

  • great stuff, but abt the whole backflip thing; the whole body shoud straightened 1st as if she goin to land on her feet...then bend from the waist goin over in 1 turnin action... well i guess she's a robot, lol

  • flip shuld be earlier, apart from that, looks great

  • ghost in the shell?

  • yup no doubt its her,i watched the whole shoe when i was 15 so know XD

  • you'd need a six pack of steel to be able to flip without beginning the flip it at the start of the jump

  • unrealistic stuff ftw;D

  • nice work :)

  • wie hei´ßtn das programm?

  • i wish this video was alot longer

  • yeah fuck the bullshit, GREAT job and excellent Major!!

  • i thnk if you have her lean toward the backflip it would be more effective. overall good job.

  • the major!!! all to do now is to work on the character model aliitle and the texutres. and add some lighting

  • the rig is impressive if you can pull something off like that, well at least to me it is

  • someones a ghost in the shell fan!! props!

  • this would totally look great if u just added some motion blur

  • It would look more natural if she started summersaulting from the beginning.

    Nice animation nonetheless

  • @DJDhananjayK lol, its called transfer of motion, as she thrusts her legs forward it creates that motion of flip, if humans could survive a fall like that then it would look natural to do that.

  • @DJDhananjayK I think if the somersault was reversed in direction as well... I think it might go along better with the physics of the fall. Great animation though, I like the smoothness of the landing.

  • @DJDhananjayK From that height? She'd over-rotate and land on her head. Realism aside, the majority of the somersault would've been completed before she takes up most of the frame, which is the interesting part.

  • @nambreadnam But she didn't curl, which makes the somersault way longer than a proper one.

  • what program did u used?

  • @TifaxCloudXD

    Its Softimage XSI

    I don't know if it's free

  • GITS Ownage ^^

  • nice character but i think it would look more natural if she somersaulted the other way round dont you think

  • Yeah I agree, Otherwise pretty good. What specs would you need to create this?

  • @Kiyamlol - I believe that is how she somersaults in the anime. I feel that the animation is spot-on.

  • light wave isnt as good as it looks...

  • ui semen cayalah

  • he or she used light wave

  • Nice animation!

  • NICE!

  • Ghost in the shell!

  • pretty good. 4/5. yeah wat program did you use?

  • Hmm, the Major?

  • with which programm has done the video?

  • Is that the chief...?

    No way! It is? Awesome!!

Now chase down those bad guys!

  • o/ .... cool

    amazing ...

  • nice :O

  • Perfect

  • if i could offer any critique, the arms looked a little stiff on the flip. its the first thing i noticed.

  • If you do the back flip...you should make her jump with her back facing out (or have her turn her back toward the ground. after the jump instead of her chest). she already is 1/4 way into a front flip when you make her do the back flip.

Would be nice to see the chunks of the ground on impact have more 'life'. Have a few smaller chunks fly up. But depending on your application for the anim not sure how 'real' you need it.

But looking like a sweet anim..keep it up.

  • I think a front flip would look more natural...

  • I agree- good animation though, very fluent.

  • you need to do a nime short with this 3d model, for the new movie

  • noice....noice.....nice....

  • nice!

  • More. make a fighting scene!!

  • is that major?

  • What software is that?

  • not convincing backflip. u need to study some reference dude!

  • do you know where I could get a reference for something like this, and also for fighting, I am doing animation in my school please...

  • olympic gymnastics videos

  • @c00lcr8r yup, she seems to be static in the air then at some point out of nowhere she starts flipping, you need to make it more dynamic. make her rotate from the beginning and when she gets closer to landing when she pulls her legs in that shortens the axis of the flip and speeds it up... Other than that its awesome i like the camera work...

  • Haha I could totally tell that was Ghost in the Shell inspired. EPIC rig man! :D

  • Making a GitS game? O_o I'd love to see another one out there!

  • sweet

  • see if you can find some motion reference of girls on trampolines or doing high dives. The flip looks like it just starts out of nowhere without and force going in.

  • Ghost in the shell FTW.

  • use the arms more to start the flip i think it would help

  • Some camera shake when she lands would add nice dynamics. Very nice work.

  • I love that scene from ghost in the sheel

  • looking great, maybe she should move her arms when doing the flip a little bit more.

  • do more pleas? love it

  • man u shud try to make timing in mind while working as wel as...when she is taking a turn in air its not looking real....it like roation without force....other things are damn cool...all your thought and works....

  • I would love to see this fully rendered!

  • nice animation but a front flip will make it look better

  • nice . but i reckon the body is too stiff when she jumps.

  • great animation...cool.. what software use? great.

  • motoko is awesome man i cut my hair exactly like hers and its soooo cutee

  • this reminds me of ghost in the shell...

  • umm dumbass it is ghost in the shell!!!

  • cause it was totally obvious you know

  • looks like lightwave ?

  • what program did you use?

  • its lightwave :P

  • What program did you use to create this 3D animation?

  • cool animation i loved it, bravo.

  • Mirrors Edge :D

  • wat is that thing that she goes through

  • This is not a rendered video. This is still in the 3d program. If I had to guess I'd say those are the little rings which tell the animation which movement to do next.

  • do u know wat they r called

  • Great model of Motoko Kusanagi, 2 probs though. the previously mentioned physics problem with the flip, and the hair feels a little too solid, dont know why, but that what kinda ruined it, the shine was a bit extreme to now that I think about it, but I guess that would work for a cyborg.

  • Nice !

  • I dunno' if this is the one you went with, but basically, she can't fall flat on her stomach 3/4th's the way down the building and then suddenly do a complete flip.

She would need to begin the turn almost immediately after jumping.

Otherwise, very solid, relatively fluid. Nice model you have there, also.

  • Nice Landig, hAVE TIME eXPLANIG WHAT YOU USED? I guess Shatter effects on the Ground?

  • Wow these situations were okay in Matrix but... anyway, the making is fine.

  • mAATOO

  • That. Was awesome. @ [] @

  • nice work, think i will stick to 2d animation 3d is to much stress!

  • that may be b/c she is.

    mjr. motoko frome GITS

  • I think the reason it looks like a constant velocity is that you rotate the camera. since the scene isn't finished, the regularity of the building makes it seem like the character is moving slower. you either have to put in a more complex background or cut the shot in two (which in my opinion would be a shame)

    really cool though.

  • hi could you pleas send me the chara???? because you made a nice job ^^

    respect

  • wow!

  • lol...........

  • Nice job, you just need to work on the things the people below mentioned.

  • The speed is too consistant. Speed up the fall, slow down the flip, and speed to the ground again. Think it about how it'll look.

  • i think that this is a good start point. but notice how the character has no spin momentum in mid air and right before she hits the ground she does a 360. not possible and imho makes the scene look ridged and fake. you would probably have to cut the scene in two 1 to show freefall and the other to show the landing.

  • cool what program?

  • cool

  • screw off

  • stick figures are also animations

  • Yeah, why do something creative and learn a skill that could earn money when you can sit on youtube and unjustly insult other peoples work. Wanna be a critic, learn to spell <_<.

  • are you using the program MAYA? that was very impressive! :)

  • hay man could u tell me on the programs u r using pls and maby send me the links

  • Напомнило игру Oni

  • GitS!

  • the fall is a bit to constant in velocity, you might want to make the twirl speed up and slow down a micro second here and there to give it a more realistic look.

  • nice work

  • greet job but that move in that position after jumping in not possible in acrobaci if you can twist it litel bit befor the moment when it's done in the animation i gana be better and mor realistic best wishes

  • i think her hair should move more especially when hitting the floor

  • and when it's falling, too. it should be floating aroud and stuff, and when she hits the ground it kind of bounces around her face, right?

  • yes

  • Damn good , wicj program did you used , maya ?

  • he used blender i think =)

  • light wave

  • is that the girl off ghost in the shell?

  • outstanding work!

  • awesome did you work at IG studio or bandaï visual as a lightwaver ^^ it's a cool posing a modeling skills you have ^^
