@sikm8sik I have a 94' 318i conv w/ auto trans and want a turbo because its a pig, owned since new and regret not getting 325, but now I dont because of its fuel mileage, but it needs some torque, I live in LA , who did your kit and what size turbo and who made the turbo manifold ?
@turbotdi2002 318i needs love too....ppl too biased towards the M3. Its an old car and some ppl get a kick out of tuning their little motors,....leave em to it. Good accomplishment I say. An M3 is great right out of the box, but then you'll still spend more to tune the E36 M3 cause its still not powerful enough to tackle modern M3's. There's gonna be the temptation to do more no matter what car you have. So if this is all he had, then good on him for the effort. Nice work
Performance E36ers can start with a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. It can add up to 11HP for only about $150 and installs in 30-45 minutes - really a must for every E36 owner. It also makes the car HOWL at high end but sounds normal at everyday driving. See my videos!
I got my E36 M40B18 on the dyno, standard or K&N airfilter doesn`t matter.
Even when deleted the lid of the airfilterbox, so the air is getting directly into the airhose onto the airflowmeter there was absolutely no difference in power or torque, 0,0.
The only thing which can make a (maby little) difference is to make the intake air cooler, its said that if you make the intakeair 15 degrees cooler you can make 10HP.
i`ve got a M40 1.8 and was thinking of a turbo....
Do you`ve got stock internals, modified..? Please tell us some more about the engine setup.
I`m really intresting about the engine specs because almost everybody takes 6cil if they want to turbo it, but im still thinking bout tuning m M40 as fast as a 325 :P

@marula10 Hah, im not sure about that yet! Ever thought about all you need for a swap..? probably not... -Engine -Radiator -Gearbox -Differential -Diff Axle -Wheel axles -Compleet cable tree -Exhaust -ECU / other computers/regulators -Shock aborters and suspension front + rear -Frontbrakes ventilated disks -Rearbrakes discs -Stabilizers blablabla i probably still forgot something, but i can tell ya, a (good/proper) swap is more expensive and waay more work ;) believe me..
I love my E36 328i. Only mod is a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. They run around $170 and add up to 9HP in the E46 323/325/328 and up to 9.4HP in the 328i. That's about $17/per extra HP... A good value for the extra oomph. General HP increases are shown:
hey mate pleaseee help mee i really want to turbo my car cause they dont have any power at all but look really nice you think a turbo kit off ebay will be alright and what kit have you go on your pleasee reply i really want to do it to mine thanks abs

-Adds 9-11 HP
-Never replace filter again (K&N)
-GREAT SOUND

How many horsepower did you get with turbo on this m43 engine?
calputere 1 year ago
Your getting a lot of turbo flutter, you need to adjust your BOV (if its an adjustable one) or move it further down the pipe.
