Actually, we're a capitalist country with a fascist regime behind it. Your governments were highjacked by corportations...hence all the bailouts and the governments are bending backwards for these corps.

One example I can think of this is Paul Martin and VIA Rail. Back in the 80s Mr. Martin who used to own Voyageur Bus Lines (which competed against VIA Rail) was complaining about VIA getting "unfair subsidies". When he became Minister of Finance, then Prime Minister...guess where the money went..

The government cut funding to VIA Rail, and seemed to favour privately owned bus lines. I don't have anything against buses, but I'd rather have the choice to ride the train...it's so much better!

The issue is that Canadians seem to either overtrust their elected, OR not care what Ottawa does about their money, OR just never protest seriously when their money is being wasted (with the military, for example) and rights are being trampled on.

But Sam said it, everything moves real slow when it's forty below. So we can still reverse that.

Canadian politicians abuse this knowledge that we will not do anything against them except vote for opposition next time (but we won't remember so hey).

If you didn't know... the military is NOT supposed to police it's own citizens... if you look up on here, the Montebelo riots in Montreal... those cops were US military, brought in to keep those protesting the SPP, from getting out of hand... just look around you...
