  • Didn't this guy also produce a skeleton witch record and a toxic holocaust record? hes awesome!

  • what is that piano or organ or whatever? i think they called it a hamid?

  • @OpieCavalera i think its a hammond organ

  • @OpieCavalera Melotron.

  • I love this fucking album you FUCKIN BITCH!!!

  • I love Pike's voice man, haha. That dude is just fuckin made of weed

  • I wouldn't really say drinking mikes hard lemoneade is expanding my "drink horizons."

  • sorry, but there are more drinks out there than jizz... expand your "drink" horizon... do you need help? are you a jizzaholic?

  • @whenboysetsfire1 The guy does coke and shrooms and all kinds of shit. I'm not saying it's a good thing, but he's hardly a pussy.

  • Genius.

  • how many strings is on the guitar

  • 9................

  • 9 strings

  • seeing these guys live was easily the highlight of my 2008 year, what an excellent live band. getting to see them live with mastodon in october will probably be the highlight of my life.

  • Is anyone on earth cooler than Matt Pike?

  • noone.

  • nope

  • matt pike is drinking a mike's hard lemonade. this is hilarious to me.

  • the organ is killer!

  • This is one of those bands you can keep listening to and not get tired of, kind of like the original Sabbath.

  • What is this guitar ?

  • first act 9 string

  • custom First Act guitar made for Matt Pike

  • Matt Pike drinks Mike's Hard Lemonade? Huh.

  • 2:26 sounds like me playing keyboards

  • 9 strings!

  • he plays without his littlefinger? weird

  • i do that to. but i thought i was the only one

  • When he plays guitar? I think he does use it sometimes, he just keeps it kinda' loose when he's not using it. Most guitarists learn to tuck it in tight with the others for speed purposes, but if you just get used to it hanging out like that, it really won't harm you that much. I do the same thing a lot.

  • what song is the intro?

  • "Death is This Communion"

  • you should say neither.

  • do their other albums have that middle eastern sound?

  • Listen to "Dopesmoker" by Matt Pike's old band, Sleep.

  • DeepImpactmusic has all that stoner metal

  • My new favorite band!!!!

  • lol...tinkering with the Hammond...I thought it was a funeral home! Matt is such a great guitar player...watching him you can see he has a vibe.

  • aaaahhh ... high on Fire is so Fucking COOL! I've seen them @ Rock im Park, was partly the only guy who knew them! But it was FUCKING GREAT!!

  • yeah dude, I saw them in minneapolis a few months ago and Im pretty sure I was the only one head banging. High on Fire slays

  • actually your complete wrong he uses C-Tuning which is CA#D#D#GGCC

  • wtf, 8 strings?

  • its actualy a custom 9 string

  • actually it's C-F-A#-D#-D#-G-G-C-C...9 string :P

  • just got the cd yesterday and thoroughly listened on the way to work today...couldnt stop playing this song once i got to it.

  • i fucking love this song. actually they named it DII. the melody thing on the guitar is so cool.

  • From FirstAct dot com: For Matt Pike of High On Fire, we created a distinctive 9-string guitar, with three strings on the bass side and six on the treble side. Each treble string is doubled for a chorused twelve-string guitar sound. The maple and mahogany body features a gorgeous, classic cherry sunburst finish and intricate 5-ply binding. The pickups are a pair of First Act custom made Duomags with super-wide frequency range.

  • Go to firstactDOTcom to check out the Matt Pike double cutaway 9-string guitar.

  • Yeh, their new producer is up there. I think they're from Oakland or San Francisco.

  • Maybe it's the little things like Mike's Hard Lemonade and that pink shoulder strap that makes it what it is?
