The note Whitney hits 6:23-6:26 was disgusting and sick. She went from head to a whistle high 6:28 and then did a run at the end 6:29. Was smiling now that heffa the baddest
@TheHeavenXc You hear the whistle pitch she does 4:39, it so clear and fast, but the pitch was a whistle note. She is very cleaver with her notes and octave jumping. Very cleaver singer
@TheHeavenXc Lord that woman has done everything possible with the human voice from whistle highs to baritone tone lows, she just can BLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
hhaha oh these were the days. When Whitney actually sang and her back-up singers only sang a little bit. The back up singers sing the whole song these days.
@techslam Please you wish Frenchie could hit those coloratura notes here never! Frenchie could outsing the girls now but prime Whitney was miles better I mean miles than the singers even the best one's today!
Like that woman said in documentary she was blessed with a classically beautiful voice. How does she do that note 4:34-4:40 and then do a whistle like chirp. That is not human, and she sounds so angelic. It was so effortless. It hurts me to see Whitney now because she been through so much. I believe she will pull through it, but this Whitney I miss much happier and her true self.
5:31-5:33 makes Whitney coloratura soprano in her prime. Only coloraturas could do runs like that in head voice. A lot of female singers can hit notes in head and whistle but the complexity of it distinguishes a coloratura soprano from another soprano!
Is that Whitney hitting that note 5:21, that sounds like a instrument. Cause her mouth opens right there as she touches the mic. I would not be surprised cause her range was sick in this era.
Sure ain't but I think she could sing this song better than Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer Hudson sung, it but nowhere near as good as this, and I love Jenn Hud.
Listen to this women phrasing its not very easy, livin all alone, so impecciable. This woman is bad. She has to laugh at herself how good she is vocally. I never heard a voice like Whitney in her prime.
Her head and superhead tones are just flawless. The only singers that are like her are Minnie, Jean Carne, Lisa Fischer with that ability. Whitney's is more operatic and polished with her vibrato.
Olivia and Patti and that other girl harmonies are so blended. All them heffas can sing their tail off. Whitney and these ladies were the truth this era
Sure was! Every world tour she beast out vocally and do things you would never imagine. I love all Whitney tours even her bad days cause it shows she is human
You guys should hear the 1997 Tapei rendition and Japan 1997. Whitney took this pop song, and sung it like a jazz song, with so complex runs and high notes. It ridiculous how she can intrepret her own songs so differently!
wow, forgot this lady could sing her face off.......and why do people by Keyshia Cole,Mary, Debra cox and all these others when this woman sings like this?
Prime Whitney was such a polished singer it is sick. She could have easily done opera and classical music. She should have been a vocal coach. She would have still kept most of her voice that way! I know she regaining it little by little!
u know what's sad, that recent Clive Davis performance she did, it was sad, no notes, not on key, "THE VOICE" was raspy, she had such a gift. and from what i heard, it was really sad
It was not that bad. I thought the IWALY intro was so angelic, she lost her way I believe and you in me, and then she ripped INRBIO. She should have left I'm Everywoman knowing that she did have her upper register to belt. She would have been fine if she sung something easy after IWALY like MLIYL. She needed to warm up I think!
Also I think Whitney is being lazy vocally for all the years she has given her all. She probably feels like I have nothing to prove and I don't care right now. Trust when she ready she will show the girls I thing a two about singing.
industry people say she is very lazy, she's content. people keep pushin her to sing. maybe she's tired of singing, thousands of performances later and bobby's bullshit, she might be worn out. maybe she wants to enjoy the rest of her life.
I agree with that statement. She just wants to enjoy life and there is nothing wrong with that! The only dilema is she signed that contract. I think really Whitney should have retired and then came back when she really wanted too like Anita!
now, i must say, seeing Anita Baker ROCK that bet special and sound so good, was incredible. She's passionate about singing, and even thou she may not record as much, she always tours....Whitney just doesn't.
Yes, she is lazy and I very much think she still has her voice. There is no way in hell I going to believe that much voice Whitney had she does not have any of it or close to it. Whitney is not using her instrument, and being lazy vocally thats all!
it's weird listening to All at Once, Saving all my love, Greatest Love of all or IWALU and then listening to You Light Up my Life or Try it on my own......sounds like two different voices all together. The american public loves Whitney Houston, and we want her to regain her throne.
Honestly, I like Mariah Carey More, she just gives and gives and gives. But Vocally Whitney Houston is the greatest vocalist of our time, I have NEVER heard any chick hit those long hard notes like the end of Greatest Love of All or One Moment in Time...her songs are classics, today's music, vocalist don't compare to her perfection of a voice.
Yes, I agree to extent. MC does tend to show more effort in her gift than Whitney. But Whitney is definitely more vocally talented and definitely could do anything she wanted with her voice in her prime. I believe Whitney in time will regain her passion for singing.
Whitney will always be my favorite even if she does not come back. My Lord, this woman has already done everything possible with the human voice. Like a reviewer said in 80's she in her prime can sound as smooth and angelic as Minnie Ripperton, to sounding ruff and hard like Chaka. Nippy vocally is just eight wonder with unlimited range and power.
Listen to the harmony in the background. Olivia McClurkin and the other background singers were the best in that era. Man them women can harmonize. Saving all my love........... harmony is so tight.
Just gorgeous!!! Oh baby-girl! Where you been? I love you so much Whitney! You got me across soo many hurdlesssss, with your voice!...!....You have a gift Whitney! Use it!! Its time....Baby-girl its time.!.
Performances like these makes me fall even more in love with Whitney's angelic soprano. I swear she was blessed with an angelic soprano voice. None like it!
Thelawyer06 the background singers in this clip are the baddest I ever heard. Along with Whitney's background singers IYBT era. They were bad as well.
That was incredible how she does the You.... and then chirps this oh....... 4:39 in superhead voice like that. That part is in sixth octave at least. Her transitions in registers is incredble.
Whitney is using her coloratura soprano in this song. You hear hear do the for you............. and then do this high whistle/superhead chirp at the end. Amazing inflections in head and superhead voice. I never heard anything like it.
@MariposaGirl1981 No the end end pitched she does at the end she always jumps a octave or two 4:39. She starts the note E5 cause thats how she recorded, but she jumps an octave in her live at the end of the You's if she feelling like it. She has done that for years. She would either do the full note as You E5, or Start the note E5 and jump to the next octave or higher. She is very clever with her register transitions she so fast that most can even tell she jumped an octave or so.
@MariposaGirl1981 She does the same thing 6:26 starts e5/f5 in head in does a superhead/whistle pitch briefly 6:26 and brings it back to head. The lady is the most clever singer who ever had a mic.
Nippy always starts her notes a certain way jumps the octave. She is not unmusical like Mariah. Mariah would just hit the E6 without hitting the octave before. Whitney always jumps octaves with musical purpose she is a pianoist, so by ear she knows what notes to hit, and what octave to jump naturally!
Whitney is so good she directs her singers, band etc, what note to play etc. She said from the onset my band and singers sing for ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So really the arrangement you hear for the most part live is the way she wanted to sing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS THE BEST RENDITION OF SAVING ALL MY LOVE FOR YOU, WITHOUT A DOUBT! I'm a huge Whitney fan, I have seen every version of this song and this THE BEST. I can't stress it enough...
You have to hear Japan 1986 version and Spain 1991. Amazing live. Her soprano was so so so high in Japan 1986, she was singing lyric coloratura soprano there.
I know what you mean, cuz I've heard them as well... But it's something about this one, I don't know, not the technique, but the feeling. Maybe it has to do with her intro talk, she just seemed to be really at ease and really into the atmosphere in Chile. It touches me, the first time I heard it, I started crying LOL It'll remain my favorite
Blue at 3:08 is one of my all time favorite licks...so simple yet so genius.
