  • hey, what jj tubes did you get???

  • hey dude nice playing. I just got myself a john mayer strat and also a hand-wired vibroverb custom amp with the diaz mods. AND WOW! I've never owned a fender amp before, and the tone is freaky amazingly sweet! Great tones you have here aswell. keep rockin! I'll stick up a vibroverb / mayer strat video soon. :-)

  • is the twin the same as this amp, but just a little louder?

  • Video is horrible at 2:04.

  • I think this is the one I want. Cheers.

  • very nice. thank you.

  • almost sounds acoustic! :D

  • Clean as virgin water.

  • Personally sounds great to me.

  • sound , with Tons of sustain magic . Excellent breathing tecq

  • since you have both deluxe reverb and hot rod deluxe reissue, which one will you recommend for mayer tone?

  • Awesome tone and playing! Is the finish of that strat really white or more yellow'ish?

I'm asking because I have a strat with more of a really light yellow finish (I think it's olympic white) and I want to add a mint green pickguard like you. I don't really know how it would look with that particular finish.

  • does this amp sound amazing at lower volumes? i have family around the house to mind.

  • Woow!! i like it so much!!

  • this is with it cranked up all the way?

  • <3fender

  • neck pickup? please say no. cuz i wanna hear the neck pickup.

  • Fender = Perfect Clear Sound.

  • I f**king love that tone and your playing is awesome.;)

  • Guitar straight into the amp without any effects..... I have to say, it really is the way forward!!!! Thats a great sound man!!!

  • Do you think you could gig with this amp??

Like at what level does it start to distort?

  • @hankammer23259 if u mic it its good

  • awesome tone!!! Great playin!

  • nice sound :)

  • nice sound :)

  • EXCELLENT KEEP IT UP FAB!!!!!

  • have you got any tabs for this or was it improvised.

  • Great tone, very nice recording. How did you record it?

  • veryyy good! my hat goes off to you buddy

  • love this song...Claptons unplugged album is kick ass. The tone sounds good on the lead, other than a few rythm problems on the lead part, it sound hot man.

  • Magnificent tone! I am going to now trade my Gibson SG for this Strat! How heavy is it?

  • @jrguitar57 same as most other strats. not too heavy, still great tone though. prefer telecasters myself though.

  • Is the tone anything to do with the big dipper pick ups in the JM strat by any chance, don't they like scoop mids or something? i'm just curious, what do you think?

  • Wow Awesome playing dude! you got skill ;)

  • what difference you note with the change of tube? more bright? less bass? I hear my FDR a little dark, yours look more brightness (well, maybe the strat, i use an ash telecaster). With my LP sounds horrible.

  • Hi, great playing !

I saw your other video too with your blues deluxe. I have the chance to trade my blues deluxe for a deluxe reverb. Which one do you prefer or think is the better amp ?

    thanks !

  • new strings =)

  • HOLY S***

this tone is ridiculous, as youve heard many times.

    amazing playing too bro.

def a byproduct of new strings, no boxes, and solid playing

  • GREAT TONE!!

what are the equiments u use to record? computer? interface? program? mic pre-amp?

i only see the SM57 over there

  • Sweet tone.

  • Very sweet, my next amp me thinks!

  • kinda sounds acoustic sweet tone

  • I'm diggin it...great tone.

  • great playing, vey nice tone and phrasing. Beautifull......

  • i love this, i love it.

  • what mic are you using?

    thanks

  • i'm liking that amp.

  • Great!

  • no good no good hai suono piaatto si si piaatto

  • Love the tone. Sounds very warm.

  • Wonderful, lovely melody, and tone. Thank you.

The deluxe sounds surprisingly cool in tone to me..

  • beatiful tone

  • i think a significant reason why the tone came out so good was because the only thing between my guitar and amp was a decent 6 ft cable. don't dismiss that fact as something negligible. the difference is noticeable when u compare with a 25 ft cable.

  • @JujuSteady what cable did you use?

  • @JujuSteady bull, only high end loss is noticeable with longer cables and sometimes wanted. SRV for this reason used extra long cables so he got rid of the piercing highs, yet his tone was massive.

  • @JujuSteady wrong!

  • Superb!!!!

  • amazing sound.

  • pretty badass man - thanks for giving a pure demo of the amp. WAY better than the blues deluxe. Couple questions: How loud can you get the deluxe reverb before it starts to break up? If you wanted a really clean sound would you be sacrificing voume?

  • as far as the knobs are concerned, i think it starts to break up at around 4. it's loud enough for the home. if you're in a band, you might want to look for something a bit louder.

  • @MarshallGunner mic it up?

  • hey i have that same preamp. and i was wondering how u ran it thru your deluxe reverb. i have a 65 super reverb and have not used the preamp with it yet.. if u dont mind please explain to me how u run it with this amp

  • he ran the microphone through the preamp.(the sm57)

  • Outstanding tone. Can I ask what setting are on your amp and if you're using any boxes? I sent you a separate question for the same on your Blues deluxe I also have both and just bought a Fender VM combo after seeing a the NAMM 09. Thanks GREAT TONE you have.

  • no boxes. that's why i think it sounded so good. new strings and only a short cable between gtr and amp.... i don't remember what the settings were but i usually leave treble at 7.5 and bass at 4.5.

  • hey poster, is this the stock speaker ?

  • stock. only thing that is non stock are the jj tubes which also noticeably change the sound for the better imo.

  • great sound man, totally diferent to all videos with DRR, i got the same amp.exept i play with Eric johson strat, wich exactly JJ tubes are those, please let me know...nice playing thoo.

  • I got them online from the tubestore. JJ 6V6S.

  • Rosewood eric johnson or maple?

  • for songs such as this and slow dancing in a burning room would this or the twin reverb be a better choice for me? thanks

  • the twin reverb is much cleaner, so it really depends on your preference. And budget (the twin reverb is around $200 - $400 more than the deluxe)

  • Wonderful cover! Brilliant Fender tones out there! By the way I'm a fan of Clapton and I like this song soooo much! Cheers mate!

  • Thanks for sharing this, it helps to get an idea of John's guitar signature sounds...and it does great!

  • sounds so awesome...

  • beautiful tones man! just a question, how would you eq this to get more of a boosted mid range tone? thanks

  • Very Well Done!

  • sick lead

  • hey how did you record this, like micing, mixing and what program did you use?

  • pretty simple. guitar hardware is in the more info.

recording gear was: sm57 mic, cheap mic preamp, delta 44 audio interface (PC). For software, i used Audacity/Cool Edit.

  • What volume was the DRRI set at here? Sounds great, but I'm worried I might not get this at house volumes

  • the amp only has 22 watts or so. If I remember right, the volume was set at about 4-5. i would consider it a great home amp because... well, fully cranked it IS loud but not nearly as loud as other amps.

plus, remember that this amp has JJ tubes in it. Only about $40 for a pair. Well worth it! The tubes don't make a subtle difference... they make a BIG difference.

  • Your tone is really great! Is the SM57 in the photos how you miced the amp for this recording? It looks like you put the mic almost parallel to the amp. It sounds great, and if that's how you did it I might have to try it!

  • yeah, it does look parallel from the picture! it's actually at an angle but you can't really tell from here.

  • good job! nice tone!

  • Thank you for this, I was on the fence about buying one.. now I'm certain that I will

  • As I'm sure you are well aware, it was co-written by Robert Cray; lest we forget to pay "homage" (said with french accent). Traveled some 4hrs to see him (R.C.) on Fri. . So had to pay respect in light of that fact with a gentle plug .... not that he needs it. Nice cover!!!

  • Good catch! I completely forgot about that.
