She had a one record deal, but because of the fact that she had an underground following with a 1985 track "I'm the one you want" recoded under the name "Les Lee" Arista wasnt willing to take the risk so they pushed her in Europe first with a track that was considered @ the time more Euro than American sounding. But many artist were launched like that back then. And yes her birth name is Lesley Wunderman and she is from Long Island; we know.
