I think Crackle might be onto that. Every time I switch it on and get to the ad's location, instead of skipping through, the ad just doesn't load and the video stops because it's waiting for an ad that won't play. I'm not bothered, though. I mainly got that software to deal with infinitely more obnoxious ads on a different site.

The ads are annoying, yes. But do any of you know how hard it is to sustain a site without revenue? YouTube racks up about $1,000,000 worth of bandwidth charges per day. How, therefore, can they make a profit, or for that matter, break even, without advertisments? These advertisements are what allows us to use YouTube. That's why it's still here. No one is taking your rights and YouTube is not selling out. They can't see products, so ads are the only viable way to sustain the site.
