Downgrading from Android 2.1 to 1.6 on an Xperia X10

The FlashTool is a graphical-based flashing application. You run it through Windows Explorer.

If it says it's not recognized, it means you're in the wrong folder obviously.

There's no difference between flashing v1.6, v2.1, or v2.3.

Download the ROM, copy it to the FlashTool, flash.

Even if it was different, there's absolutely no reason why anyone in their right mind would use v1.6 over v2.3.

Ive just arrived at 2.1 through messing up the upgrade procedure..Follow the instructions exactly!! Press and hold your back arrow then plug you micro USB cord in.

Well I'to tell you the truth certain things wouldn't happen for me on it. Like setting up my google account and FB accounts!I Maybe I didn't have wifi to setupat the time...Shouldn't the phone be able to set up via the USB connection.

I'm going back for another look and more app control. But a big plus for turning the vid to HD @2.1!

@rickyscheme Why would a USB connection provide Internet? And if it did, it'd be a function of the host device, (i.e. the computer) not the phone. The phone has 3G and WiFi connectivity for a reason. Either enter in your APN settings or connect to a WiFi network.

@Jdeyful This phone is almost 3 years old now. Considering it's got v2.3.3 and an unofficial ICS rom is being developed, it's aged quite well. Either install the official v2.3 or a custom rom or shut the hell up.

@Jdeyful It's got limited memory. If you've got thousands of texts, it's going to slow down. Contacts shouldn't have be the issue.

No, it doesn't "void" anything. You can always restore to original/OEM.

@binvij 2.1.1 cannot be rooted. You have to install the pre-rooted version after installing xRecovery.

just letting everyone know ive contacted sony ericcson to check on the North America release for 2.1 still nothing yet. If you do the backdoor steps through flash your phone will be out of warantee. just letting everyone know.

@rich2217 You are sorely misinformed. Rogers (Canada) released the official 2.1 update over a month ago. AT&T over a week ago.

You can ALWAYS use Sony Ericsson Update Service to repair/revert your phone back to the stock OEM firmware for warranty purposes.

I've check after downgrading from 2.1 to 1.6, SEUS don't recognize phone and in about phone model is mentioned as " unknown" , and cannon view phone book too as timescape error occurs, any solution so could update phone using SEUS ?

after downgrading to 1.6, Sony Ericsson's Update service still says you've latest update no need to update, any solutions ?

@differentsurgical Just means the update for your region/wireless carrier isn't out yet. If you're on Rogers, the 2.1 update is being released staggered across Canada so that the servers aren't overloaded. e.g. one city at a time. As of 18:00 EST, it wasn't available in Toronto yet.

I am just worried that official seus isn't canceled if it was flashed to 2.1 nordic and back 1.6 by me. main reason I downgraded is that seus wasn't recognizing when it was 2.1 not for update but even reinstalling current as it allows before next update release.

@BluechipJ Thanks for the video ... but now Timescape force closes on phone startup, and most other apps fc when I open them. Also, PC Companion doesn't recognize the phone. I've re-flashed it 5 times, including different versions of the firmware. I've tried PC Companion on two PCs, even tried uninstalling/reinstalling it. No dice. Can't upgrade, can't repair. Any suggestions?
