OMG you are a lifesaver. This is twice I've run across your "how to get yourself out of pain" videos, and both times, you've been spot on. My hip bursitis was getting so bad I could barely stand, let alone walk. I did your exercises, and along with some icyhot liniment and a couple of advils, I was sooooooo much better! Just the liniment and advil got me nowhere, so I know it was your simple yet powerful excersises that did the trick . Thank you thank you thank you :)
I recently read that one potential cause of piriformis syndrome is splaying the legs/feet, that is to say not keeping hte legs and feet parallel while siting or laying for an extended period of time. I notices that someone else mentioned sitting for a long period of time. I 'd bet that they sort of straddle the chair like I used to.
my name is peggy and i am 51 years old. my lower middle of my back hurts and the pain spreads to my hips to the point that i have trouble walking please help. doctors have put me on meds for inflamation . i use ice it helps but i would like to try something that fixes the problem and not cover up the pain please help me to walk without pain and avoid a cordizone shot which the doctor wants to try next . thank you peggy
i was on my back and my girl was on top.and we both were like bang bang bang i went left and she went left and i went right and she went right and a few hours after we were done. i get super pain that i know isnt good every time i try to stand.
Great video title.. I think a lot of people would search "butt pain" not knowing the piriformis muscle by name. From your comments, I can see how many people can relate to this post, and I see piriformis issues in my practice all the time! These are well explained solutions, and your service seems great for those in search of answers; kudos!
i've had this pain for 6 months, i've tried everything, PT, deep tissue massage, it went away a little but not completly 8-( when am I going to be healed 8-(
Hi, Thank you for your video. I have herniated disk and suffering from sciatic nerve problem for the last 3 months. Epidural injection helped but the pain is not all gone. My question is - do I still use ice when it hurts? Some people advised that since it is not a new injury I should rather use heat. Especially in the morning it really hurts. Please help. Dita
I have been suffering sciatic nerve pains for 5 weeks, however the pains was geting slight better. But I feels pains on back of my right calf when I starts walking and sometimes I feels numbness on my toe of my right feet. Can you please advise me when the pains will go? I'm not taking any painskiller tablets at the moment. Thank you
Ice is the WORST thing for my condition...gawd it hurts after ice. Heat packs on my rear and thigh help to some degree. It's obvious you don't have piriformis while doing the exercises...they KILL if your have it.

Does this pain ever go away ? What i mean is, can you ever return to your normal state..? or can you only reduce the symptom? I have had this pain for quite some time and its exactly like you put it.. is there a cure for this?
Thank you! I've been doing your exercises every day for 3 months and they're keeping me off medication. I'll do them every day as long as I can move. (I'm 66 years old)
stretching a broken bone apart will simply make it worse, stretching apart tissue tears (which are essentially mini 'dislocations' of tissue) will just make it worse long term..and Ultra Sound will merely relieve symptoms by warming nothing else..analyse what caused your injury and do the OPPOSITE! to cure it..
when i said 'compression brace' i did NOT mean just bandaging the area tight, i meant you have to compress the area from the direction of below the injury and from above...much like a corset compresses inward, so tighting string of bandaging above the injury , and below with a gap where injury is and cord/strips of bandaging to tie the two together and compress the tissue together..if you break a bone it has to be placed together before it will heal, why don't they get that with this?
and it's working...plus i take 400IU of vitamin E daily and rub in Comfrey Oil (which has been scientifically proven to stimulate cell production/growth)..icing the Piriformis when the UNDERLYING FUNCTIONAL PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED didn't work, now icing it after doing the below got rid of residual sciatic nerve inflammation/sensitivity...(healthy) function follows (healthy) form..i am shocked such simple ideas are working, but all that matters is what works..was in a dark place before..
Ive had sciatica down my left leg and Piriformis Syndrome since Dec 08. A MRI scan has shown my discs have herniated (L5s1 and L2/3). I couldn't do any exercise for 2/3 months now I can these exercises have helped. Anything that causes pain stop. Ive been forwarded to a neurologist. Good luck to everyone :)
i've severe piriformis syndrome for 5 months, everything, pain killers, ice, anti-inflammatories, physio, including the above excercises have been next to useless..simply dealing with symptoms not the cause..thanks to some very common sense & simple advice from a friend plus some info from an athletic friend i've put this info together and am actually improving v.fast..in just 1 week i am 90-95 % pain free, whereas it was getting worse by the day before...2nd wk can walk s'what without crutches
which is new, THE REASON I'M IMPROVING IS THE ADVICE I GOT GETS TO THE ROOT OF WHAT CAUSED MY INJURY..for me it was deadlifting too much after a 2 month break, essentially EXCESS WEIGHT/FORCE SHEARED/STRETCHED APART MUSCLE FIBERS DEEP IN THE BUTTOCK/PIRIFORMIS..now best of mainstream medicine is physio and physio only gives you excercises to 'stretch', which in fact can make it WORSE..the cause= muscles/tissues minorly dislocated/overstretched under extreme pressure..solution=doing opposite..
my friend said, think of it this way, it sounds like your leg feels like it's shearing apart at the seam..think of how heavy your leg is, all that bone/tissue pulling on torn tissue making it worse over the day..he suggested if it was a 'dislocation' of a shoulder you'd have to get the shoulder back in position and take the weight of it..so i made a sling for my leg, supported under my knee with bandage running over my shoulder and made a 'compression brace' with bandaging to compress the area
I have the same problem. It sort of feel like sciatica but also it feels like someone has implanted a hard sack of silicone in my butt (closer to the outside of my left thigh).
I have the exact pain your talking about! It hurts so bad!Mine always feels like it needs to pop or something..and it has kind of a buldge when it hurts bad.
