  • Best track in the ST. It plays at the end of the S1. A beautiful ending.

  • A Rome movie is being made...or at least it has been written by Bruno Heller (confirmed) but hey are still looking for a studio and director I think. Supposedly starts with Vorenus and Pulo after they save Cesarean (Vorenus is not dead!) It's true! I would not joke about something so awesome :)

  • which made my blood run cold.

  • harm her own children?). I guess everthing was meant to make Octavius "hard" as the sole male heir of her family. Even if she may have hurt him in doing so, I dont think she deserved that kind of treatment. It seemed like he took his vengeance in parading Antonius in front of her. That was simply cold blooded. There are always issues between parents and children and one should be able to forgive, even more, since he should know that Atia may have made mistakes but never delibertely would have...

  • @Lothiriel1

hurt her own son. Think of Octavia - she was able to do so though she may have suffered more from the decisions her mother made. Lastly - I think, Atia know she did mistakes. In the last episode, while having a meal with Livia and her mother, she is speaking to herself saying that Octavius was a "good boy" and that it was her fault that he became what he is. I know, she was very reckless (loved and hated her :-)). But it was that last scene during the parade...

  • The best fucking series ever...!!!!

  • I own the wholw series and i'm nearing the ending of season 1. :) the first time i saw niobe fall out that window, i jumped outta my seat lol what a scene.

  • Love this show. I only wish they would have made a third season :(

  • @hatsumora6 Rome wouldn't be good with a 3rd season. All of the good characters died in season 1 and 2.

  • @Alexandros1294 if they are dead it is because it was cancelled, they had to make fit years and years in a few episodes. At first they were thinking of ending it at about the same events, but it would have lasted a few more seasons. That's also why at the end of season 2 many plotlines are cancelled or come to a very abrupt end.

So yes, it would have been a lot better with more seasons.

  • The most under rated series ever.

This entire show was absolutely mind blowing.

From the sets to the dialog to the story.

I'm glad HBO was able to make 2 seasons..its really all they needed.

It was, how ever, at the cost of 'Deadwood' which is another masterpiece.

  • @WiseGuy5674 Well said, Deadwood and Rome are very underrated.

  • @WiseGuy5674 The show wasn't even underrated. Everyone that watches it loves it.

  • @Alexandros1294 ..When I say 'Underrated'..I mean, did it win any awards, like an Emmy?...nope. The show was largely ignored by the media and Hollywood..The Sopranos and Deadwood received praise....but not Rome.

  • @WiseGuy5674 how it was under rated??!!

  • One of the best series of the last decade

    for sure.

  • Reminds me of the scene where Lucius is (dying?) on his bed looking at his children. it's strange how acting combined with a great soundtrack or score can raise powerful feelings. great series

  • This song is also used in the ending of Season 2. It is mixed in with the song 'Triumph' when Attia watches Mark Antony's body being paraded by. An equally powerful scene I believe.

  • Oh, wow, is it? I don't think I even noticed that- I'll definitely have to listen for that next time. The whole series is so powerful emotionally, isn't it?

  • @EldoraLuthiena Haha, No! Dark knight rules! *Runs away*

  • @Sovereign2142

Yes - that was an emotional scene. I have tears in my eyes every time I see it... hate Octavius for doing this to his mother. It is remarkable how Atia manages to retains her composure. Seeing the love of my life dead and paraded for the joy of the people I would have been in tears :-(.

  • @Lothiriel1 I can understand why Octavian was bitter to his mother. You have to remember she always favored Antony over Octavian (we remember this in the scene where Antony beats the shit out of younger octavian). He probably felt betrayed by his mother despite having explained his aspirations. Rather than getting approval or encouragement, he gets castigating and offensive remarks while being beat up by the man who isn't his father.

  • @classifieds103

I know that Atia had her shortcomings (or said in less polite words: she was was a bitch). Nevertheless I cant say she always favoured Marcus Antonius over Octavius. After all, she is his mother. In one scene as Octavius complains about Marcus Antonius, she tells him, that she isnt pleased with the situation either but it has to be like this as they are dependend on him. She thinks Antonius is the only one to protect her family since her own husband is dead and Cesar is...

  • @Lothiriel1

murdered. You see, as a woman in ancient Rome, her concerns are justified. As for the beating - in retrospective, Octavius knew what he did and his actions made him the sole ruler in Rome, true. But, you couldnt know that as he gave away all his familys property for his aspirations without even telling his mother. He ruined his family and I dont think he had a right to do this. I would have freaked out, too. And if you watch it again, note that Antonius just beat him for calling...

  • @Lothiriel1

Atia a bitch. He is a short-tempered man. True, no exuse. But I guess you know that people happen to freak out. Long story short: I can understand Atia for being mad at him for financially ruining his family. As for Antonius, she felt lonely and sought his protection for the sake of her family. Very understandable human needs. In the upbringing of her children she probably made mistakes. But even then I guess, she just meant it for their good (well, which mother would deliberately.

  • @Sovereign2142 omg ive been looking for the music from that part for ages!! thank u for mentioning!!

  • Morality, anger, suffering big time from PTSD; such a burden on a human being. There was a point she was trying to telling him but was interrupted. Such a tragedy.

  • His honor demanded he kill somebody. Probably would have been the boy.

  • He would never have killed NIobe,im 100% shure of that

  • yeah he would of killed the boy instead but he wouldnt touch NIobe

  • He kinda DID kill her ... but it was soooo sad. Which made it the perfect end to season one.

This is the best piece of music in the whole series.

On a par with BSG's Bear McCrearys "Something Dark is coming"

  • this is a tragic ending to the first season i think even more so cuz we all knew what was going to happen to ceaser, the real mystery was what was to become of niobe. mckid did a great job as vorenus!

  • Such a tragic scene, such emotional music and such great series.. Melancholy indeed.

  • oh god.. still rips me apart inside when I see her die. Kevin McKid looks scary in that picture haha xD

  • This is such a sad, sad song to such an emotional scene.....

May I ask what type of flute that is? Such a sound.

  • Tahnk you for this moving sad piece.I still cry when I think of the scene this was taken from. She didn't have to die.

  • I cry so hard at the end of Season 1. I mean, I know why she died, but... God, it was sad. ='(

  • She knew Vorenus would kill either her or her child>my money is on that he would have killed them both.Too much morality and anger combined and nothing good can come of it.I trully think he was sorry though and he showed it by raising her son.

  • I can never believe he would kill niobi.I am 100% shure he wouldn't have done it.

  • @prawnbutterfly Vorenus was furious.. if she didn't do it herself, he certainly would have.
