Personally I thought this song was about someone trapped in a relationship, 'kept' by their partner like they would a pet - hence the imagery of being kept in a jar with breathing holes, covered in grass, like a kid would keep an interesting creature he found in the garden. And a lot of pets are kept in rooms that the people don't really live in, like a garage, a shed, or a laundry room. But this song also includes what is probably my favourite Kurt solo.

Always wondered if Sappy would've made it onto Nirvana's never-to-be studio album after In Utero. From what we're told, You Know You're Right was to be on it, made me wonder what his next songs would've been.

Wondering what people think this song means. I see it as some kind of confined trapped relationship and how we fool ourselves and think were happy. I also kinda see it as singing about god. Were bugs in a jar and were in a fake enviroment that we are fooled into believing we are happy there when its not much of a life. I'm still trying to figure ou the laundry part. Washed - dirtied - cleaned. Still brain washed and fooled into believing everything is alright in our fake life.

I keep my turtles in strange places too - I often wonder if they think their life sucks or if it's okay since their not being transported all over the place in the reptile show circuit.
