I personally like them all as Sonic. They really all add a great tone to Sonic and all are phenominal actors....but Ryan.....something about him....he just seems to be the most passionate about the role. Ryan is higher in pitch in my opinion while jason is a bit deeper. i think the point of the different voice actors is to simply put it "puberty" to see him grow up. that's probably why the sonic colors voice is deeper so far.

i think that jason makes a pretty good sonic, but he also should not have to play like 5 or 6 other characters at the same time. He does give sonic a much more expressive sound but his voice is being overused. I simply do not like playing a game and basically hearing a argument between one person. I mean, when jet or shadow speaks, I dont want to hear the "sonic" in their voices. I'm glad they got another guy. Sega just tried to wear poor Jason out.

Jason Griffith wasn't a bad voice actor. He just voiced Sonic during the franchise's bad games. And the games weren't that bad either, don't get me wrong, but he just came in during a Sonic slump.
Jason sounded better for Sonic than Ryan. But Ryan (and correct me if I'm wrong) voiced Knuckles in Sonic Shuffle and in my opinion, he did a good job for Knuckles.
Ryan was ok, but I just like Jason better. I think he exhibited more emotion, where as Ryan seemed hyper most of the time. Jason new how to keep calm and cool, especially when doing the Shadow voice. When things got intense, however, he really got into it. Ryan needed more of a balance. Regardless, Roger Craig Smith puts a knew spin on the character. He still has that same attitude, cool during casual conversation, hyper when in action, but Sonic sounds older and more mature now. Fine by me

If you played all of SA2, you had an orgasm when sonic and shadow became Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow. Just because Ryan voiced both characters in the final battle makes him an unbeatable legend

But it's obvious that in recent games--Unleashed and Black Knight, namely, that Jason Griffith has gotten every bit as good as Ryan Drummond and then some (not that Drummond was ever a paragon of voice-acting genius or anything to begin with). And really, the difference between the two isn't as extreme as when some other characters have had VA change-ups--Cole MacGrath from the inFamous series as Prince of Persia: Warrior Within being some obvious examples.
Well, you'd have to hear just how laughably bad Griffith and most of the other 4Kids guys were back in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic '06 to know what the hubbub was about, but saying they sound the same is kind of like saying there's no difference between your voice and Lillylivers's voice. They're in the same general neighborhood, I guess, and you might not be able to tell the difference at first, but a difference there most certainly is.
That's because the 4Kids actors all stepped up their game and got good enough for it to not matter. When they first showed up, they were all (with the exception of Eggman's actor, who was pretty dang good even then) laughably bad. It's not an issue anymore, but some people just don't see how much they've improved, and some people care more about the "voice" than the "acting," which to me is even worse.
Unfortunately I can't really decide which one I like/hate more since Sonic games have had horrible writing since the beginning but I still love them. I still bust out my old dreamcast just to enjoy some badass SA2.
They sound so alike that im 90% Sure that if they made a new Sonic game. And they had Ryan Drummond as Sonic actor, but they did not Credit him or tell about him. Allmost all would have tought it whas Griffith...So why do people complain of a voice cast?

To be absolutely honest, Jason doesn't really bother me all that much... I mean at least he plays the role half way decent. What I REALLY want is for Sega to get Knuckles & Tails' voice actors from Sonic Adventure back.
There are times when I prefered Ryan's VAs and Jason's VAs. SatSR was one of Jason's better ones while in Sonic Adventure 2, he rocked. Meanwhile, Sonic Heroes, I wouldn't call his best, and Sonic and the Black Knight, well, Jason could have used a bit of work in that one. But they're both great in their own right.
Is Jason Griffith a better actor than Ryan Drummond? The answer to this question is the same as the question is there a good deal of super hero movies much better than The Dark Knight? Yes...but no one wants to admit it. I'm as good as trolled =3 worth it. By Cam.

I don't agree with you, I think that Jason Griffith is much better than he was in Sonic X, but is not as good as Ryan (He's almost there though). I really don't think it should be that big of a deal in the first place, though.
I honestly feel that both men do a tremendous job as a voice actor for my main man Sonic, buy I always felt that Ryan was much better and he is. His voice fits Sonic's character more, IMHO.

I think the voice changes seem to put Sonic like this:
Ryan Drummond: Sonic at 13-14
Jason Griffith: Sonic at 15-17
Roger Craig Smith: Sonic at 18
I think that shows how Sonic grew up along with all of us, and that's how I like to see it. Some of you can disagree if you like.

Well, you'd have to hear just how laughably bad Griffith and most of the other 4Kids guys were back in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic '06 to know what the hubbub was about, but saying they sound the same is kind of like saying there's no difference between your voice and Lillylivers's voice. They're in the same general neighborhood, I guess, and you might not be able to tell the difference at first, but a difference there most certainly is.

That's because the 4Kids actors all stepped up their game and got good enough for it to not matter. When they first showed up, they were all (with the exception of Eggman's actor, who was pretty dang good even then) laughably bad. It's not an issue anymore, but some people just don't see how much they've improved, and some people care more about the "voice" than the "acting," which to me is even worse.

Unfortunately I can't really decide which one I like/hate more since Sonic games have had horrible writing since the beginning but I still love them. I still bust out my old dreamcast just to enjoy some badass SA2.

They sound so alike that im 90% Sure that if they made a new Sonic game. And they had Ryan Drummond as Sonic actor, but they did not Credit him or tell about him. Allmost all would have tought it whas Griffith...So why do people complain of a voice cast?

To be absolutely honest, Jason doesn't really bother me all that much... I mean at least he plays the role half way decent. What I REALLY want is for Sega to get Knuckles & Tails' voice actors from Sonic Adventure back.

There are times when I prefered Ryan's VAs and Jason's VAs. SatSR was one of Jason's better ones while in Sonic Adventure 2, he rocked. Meanwhile, Sonic Heroes, I wouldn't call his best, and Sonic and the Black Knight, well, Jason could have used a bit of work in that one. But they're both great in their own right.

Jason's voice is deeper and overly deep. Ryan Drummond was successfully higher and sounded more enthusiastic and more suitable to Sonic. Both are SPOCIOUS voice actors, Ryan Drummond is best Sonic voice actor. Andrew Francis to voice Sonic! gh gh

I don't get the hype. There is barely a difference. In fact, I think Sega did a damn good job finding someone so identical to play Sonic's new voice.

you people really need to stop whinning about the voice actors, look Sonic's original voice actor was Jaleel White, he voiced Sonic in the 3 Sonic cartoons and he will never come back, Ryan Drummond took over and voiced Sonic for 3 games and he will never come back, Jason Griffith will also retire someday and will never come back and I'm sure he won't be replaced by Ryan Drummond, this is something you people need to learn.

I don't agree with you, I think that Jason Griffith is much better than he was in Sonic X, but is not as good as Ryan (He's almost there though). I really don't think it should be that big of a deal in the first place, though.

I honestly feel that both men do a tremendous job as a voice actor for my main man Sonic, buy I always felt that Ryan was much better and he is. His voice fits Sonic's character more, IMHO.
