I played the game through and I loved it up to and including the VICE desk. After that it just went down hill for me. I didn't like the last part of the game at all. I also felt that the game didn't give me enough options. Personally my favorite was the homicide desk. And the side quests (Street crimes) where way too uninteresting. I would LOVE to have a real MODERN police game in an open world setting like this.
Brent, you will be glad to know that ridiculous interrogation (from the third case I think it was) never comes back to haunt you (at least up till where I am up to in the game). The interrogations can't be failed like that one thankfully as that would suck a colossal duck, you basically get the interrogate a few suspects and pick who you want to convict (which works much better).
Loving the game so far (only up to case 11, but loving every minute!).
The point of the interviews isnt to keep loading till u get it all right. Its to try ur best and live with ur consiquences. If u do it the other way, ur playthrough wont be nearly as enjoyable or enthraling as i mine was. I guarentee it.
i finished the story of L.A. Noire yesterday on the xbox 360 and am now attacking the hidden items and side missions rite now...the 3 disks in the 360 version isnt much of a problem while playing thru the story mode but when u start going for side stuff where u have to flip between disks it can become a pain
i always shout " NEW GAME SMELL" when i open a new game ^^ well i have now about 6 games laying arround without time to play them, lanoir is one of them , well they have to wait in line until i have finished my exams next week xD hmm or maybe im addicted to NEW GAME SMELL :D
For all those asking why 360 vs PS3, I was planning to pick it up on PS3 originally but decided against since the PSN Store is down. Also I've got to send my PS3 in to fix an audio issue, so I figured I'd be playing this while that's in the mail there and back.
Use Truth if the characters are telling the truth that corresponds with the evidence.Usually straight-faced
Use doubt if the character is not telling the whole truth.Usually nervous
Use Lie when the characters contradicts the evidence you've gathered but you really need as much evidence as possible and the game kinda gets arbitrary with what evidence disproves the false statement.
Yeah I totally agree about the Q&A portions of the game, if they possibly made it so you can skip straight to interview sequences and/or a FF button to the button prompt section (ala Mass Effect style), it might curb the tedious re-watching the same dialogue sequences over and over.
It's especially painful if you have to regather the entire clue set over and over to retry dialogue missions, which is why I've resorted the some YT walkthroughs when I'm stumped. Overall a good game though
Also I preferred Mafia 2, which actually might be my personal favourite game of last year, to GTAIV. Because It had no gamebraking gliches and even the graphics never gliched which was a common issue in GTAIV. Also I felt the gunplay, story and all it's gameplay elements were more fine tuned to perfection. Essentially I liked that It wasn't a so called sandbox game. Might have deserved a Freeride mode like the original mafia though.
From what I heard La Noir shouldn't be a sandbox game! Nice!
La Noir looks too much like GTA to me with all it's gliches and all. . I wasn't able to play RDR through because of it faults, it just felt like an easy glitchy mod for GTA. Despite it's great atmosphere I never played it more than 40% according to the game statistics.
That first interview had me feeling the same way but honestly after finishing the game it was the only tedious one, the cutscene with the captain screaming over that you were a failure and to get back in only happens for that one. You do get yelled at later on but it doesn't rewind time so you can redo an interview. they are all one shot after, you do it right or wrong doesn't matter story goes on. The game is everything i had hoped it would be, a breath of fresh air.
I came here because I found myself smelling the box of a new game :P
