temari was the only one who could fight tayuya. kimimaru was to strong for her and kankuro to fight, and kankuro's abilities wouldn't have done much against tayuya because she's a long range fighter. beside pitting shikamaru and temari together always happens in cartoons, it add dimension and drama. it has nothing to do with romance or love.

@hinasakukimi not if you really think about it and put ur personal liking of the couple to the side. kishi has already plan for shikamaru not to have a romanic in the show so it doesnt make sense for him to just do a 180 and make him a couple with temari, whether he likes the couple himself or not it would make him an unreliable narrator to do that.

@shika16mine I get what you mean by that, there ARE some people who are seriously obsessed to the point where they insult and attack other people personally if they disagree. I've experienced this with NaruSaku/NaruSasu fans and hardcore Twihards, people just get too attached to things like this. Don't worry, there ARE still sane fans out here, they're rare, but they can debate calmly about characters without getting butthurt. it's alright to fantasy about your fav couple but i doubt they'll end up as a couple. 1 of them would have to give up their village, it wouldn't work.
I think that there won't be any romance since it obviously isn't that genre, but that after the great battle he will show them in further future where they will probably be already paired and have kids. Not just Shikamaru but Naruto, Kiba, maybe Sasuke and so on...

Don't get me wrong, this is probably one of my favourite pairings in Naruto.
HOWEVER, this is just a perspective. Saying that all the scenes they share means they are destined to be together is like saying Gaara and Rock Lee should be together. Because they fought against each other in the preliminaries and they reconcile again.
The characters in Naruto are always going to cross over with one another, they are on the same side after all!

Then with Shikatema, they're both tied to their villages, neither would leave for one another because Shikamaru has the Will Of Fire. I actually don't want either of the couples to happen anyway, and I'm glad Kishimoto has decided that there will be no romance for Shikamaru.

Reason #5 Outside of the saving Gaara Arch they are constantly shown together when she's around. Even if there is NO point to it like in the movies there are clips of them together for no real reason.
Also anyone else notice that when they walk or get asked if they are on a date they kinda get the same look of Kurenai & Asuma before they admitted to dating...just saying Shikamaru is a lot like Asuma hehehe
@daniisgreat when she's shown in the leaf village in shippuden it's tsunade's orders for him to escort her around not a choice like it was with asuma and kurenai, ya'll temashika fans keep over looking that detail. plus it's character development for shika, especually when choji and the others are injure from tryin to bring sasuke back to the village.
Aww but you need to think why would Masashi Kishimoto bother even adding any of those scenes of him being her escort when it's pretty pointless to the story line unless it's to imply something. ...the ONLY thing that can prove a potential ShikaTema relationship in the canon universe. That would be the sheer number of times the two appear together in the manga, in the anime, in video games, in movies, on game cards, and ESPECIALLY in advertisements. It shows that professional business people recognize the fans' desire to see it happen, and it also shows that they find some worth in positioning Shikamaru and Temari together in ads. Temari came from the Wind Country, one of the Five Great Ninja Villages. It's just natural for her to find a boy who also lives in one of those Five Villages like her and with the same heightened skill as her. And Shikamaru just passed all the requirements.

@shika16mine I get what you mean by that, there ARE some people who are seriously obsessed to the point where they insult and attack other people personally if they disagree. I've experienced this with NaruSaku/NaruSasu fans and hardcore Twihards, people just get too attached to things like this. Don't worry, there ARE still sane fans out here, they're rare, but they can debate calmly about characters without getting butthurt. Don't get me wrong, this is probably one of my favourite pairings in Naruto.
HOWEVER, this is just a perspective. Saying that all the scenes they share means they are destined to be together is like saying Gaara and Rock Lee should be together. Because they fought against each other in the preliminaries and they reconcile again.
The characters in Naruto are always going to cross over with one another, they are on the same side after all!

@countrystrata Ino is a shallow person, and that's coming from an Ino fan. It'd also ruin the InoShikaCho trio if they were together so that's a big no no. Then with Shikatema, they're both tied to their villages, neither would leave for one another because Shikamaru has the Will Of Fire. I actually don't want either of the couples to happen anyway, and I'm glad Kishimoto has decided that there will be no romance for Shikamaru.

Reason #5 Outside of the saving Gaara Arch they are constantly shown together when she's around. Even if there is NO point to it like in the movies there are clips of them together for no real reason.
Also anyone else notice that when they walk or get asked if they are on a date they kinda get the same look of Kurenai & Asuma before they admitted to dating...just saying Shikamaru is a lot like Asuma hehehe

That would make any girl quickly fall for him. I also saw them together in the second series. Before Temari left she gave him some advise and remember he smiled at her. I can't understand why some people paired Shikamaru with Ino up. I don't hate Ino (even if she acts like a bitch sometimes) but ShikaIno is in my opinion just a pure friendship. There is no attraction between him and Ino. But the attraction IS in ShikaTema.
And there are so many moments between them (just see the video). I hope they will come together. They're perfect for each other!

You could be making something out of nothing.Until the series ends, we won't know if those are only coincedences or actually mean something. And I do beleive Ino counts as "troublesome," just not in the way Temari is. Although I do agree, there is somthing between the two and there is potential for more. You also forgot they have one main similarity though that makes me support this, both are intelligent. Temari is rough, yes, but she is also intelligent and Shikamaru is a genuis. BTW, good job.

That would be the sheer number of times the two appear together in the manga, in the anime, in video games, in movies, on game cards, and ESPECIALLY in advertisements. It shows that professional business people recognize the fans' desire to see it happen, and it also shows that they find some worth in positioning Shikamaru and Temari together in ads. the first time i saw the picture from the manga at 3:07 i was like WHAT are they holding hands?! then i saw that they weren't and i was disappointed, but agree with me, it looks like they wanna, they just doesn't dare!

Temari came from the Wind Country, one of the Five Great Ninja Villages. It's just natural for her to find a boy who also lives in one of those Five Villages like her and with the same heightened skill as her. And Shikamaru just passed all the requirements.

yeah awsome vid. one other thing. you mentioned how Shikamaru and Temari were side by side during thier first apperence of Shippuden. might I point out how, if they were like holding hands, the hands they would hold the others hand with are free. Temari's other hand is on her hip and Shikamaru's other hand is in his pocket. hello?! behind-the-scene love and trying to hind it but not doing very well! yeah, just wanted to point that out.
