  • Wow, I just found out that the methodology in our school is the TBLest of all!

  • learn to speak! Focus is pronounced /foukus/ not /fokius/

  • @jonespriest gratz you know how to pronounce "focus"... noob... -_-

  • Really enjoyed this and will use it with my students.

  • Great and simple explanation. Helped me a lot. Thanks!

  • very impressive video..keep up the good work!

  • Very clear explanation. I would love to see some examples of this project. I want to know how teachers teach the language and correct the students afterward.

    Thank you for your video.

  • GABY DO YOU THINK THIS VIDEO WILL BE GOOD FOR OUR PRESENTATION

  • funkiwi44 - some tasks I used were out of a text book and the text book wasn't aimed specifically at Japanese learners. I agree with you about 'Listen-and-do' tasks.

  • Good presentation but you should focus on pronounciation!

  • You should focus on spelling! The narrator is perfectly understandable and speaks well. TPL is only applicable to school children in a classroom, where the task is often to keep them occupied.

  • TPL??? You should focus on spelling too!

I just wanted to do a contrustivist critique to them. Sorry if I sounded rude it was not my intention.

  • There is a difference between a typo and a spelling mistake. I may not make the same typo the next time but I wonder if you know that the word is pronunciation not pronounciation.

The main point is that TBL is all about teachers controlling the classroom. I also think that the Brazilian lady did just fine in the video.

  • I disagree with your conception of teachers 'controlling' the classroom. I would rather say that in TBL the role of the teacher is to facilitate and monitor while Ss are working.

I realised it was a typo but I was just pulling your leg. I am watching your broadcasts, very good work, I think they can be useful for my teaching practice. thanks.

  • Thanks for the kind words. I believe that learning does not take place in a classroom. The role of the classroom should be to motivate the learner to become independent. Try reading Rubem Alves, another Brazilian.

  • thanks

  • hey

    you really did nice work

    thank you .

  • Task based learning is a wonderful methodology in an ESL context as it opens up many possibilities linguistically. However,in my experience from teaching at a university in Japan TBL has limited use as the number of tasks students are able to complete successfully are limited due to their low vocabulary. To use TBL successfully in an ESL class students need to be at least intermediate level in order to complete tasks successfully and independently.

  • Interesting observation. Do you still feel the same way about tasks?

Were you using the tasks straight out of a textbook? Was the textbook aimed specifically at Japanese learners?

I understand that "Listen-and-do" tasks can be great for helping lower level learners to build their vocabulary.

  • hi to the one who download this video..may i know what book i need to read about "corpus linguistic" i need it in my project ..thak you

  • Olá fellows. Pode parecer simples mas foi um trabalho complicado pois nunca fizemos algo parecido escrevendo um script, editando imagens com musica e a voz da Ciça etc etc. Tem só 5 minutos porque além desse tempo ficava pesado demais pra carregar aqui. Meninas foi ótimo trabalhar com vcs!

  • Parabéns!!!!
