I beat him by him grabbing me and throwing me to the top of a side of the battle field where he couldn't reach me then I keep throwing my Chrystal Ring Shield at him. It felt so cheap but it made me laugh because it was a complete accident.

Parrying??I went to him naked with only mask of child+gravelord servant sword + 5 and greatshield of artorias +4 on lvl 78 it was very easy,you just need to block and wait till he kicks or uses his hand grab (his slowest attacks) and when he misses just attack him as many times as you can. -Tip for those who dont like parrying :)

If you get to 16 str you can grab a greatshield from blighttown that makes blocking his attacks alot easier. Also there are two endings.

There is absolutely no other way to beat this bastard if you are a caster. You just get forced to parry like an idiot a million times in order to beat him. You cant cast on him since he will Jedi leap on you and you cant block either since 1 hit will send you flying.

@suhh75 I found that true on my first play through but on my 2nd I had a lot more trouble with the 4 kings. They get pretty hard to take down before the extra ones spawn and the more that spawn the harder the fight gets.

@MrDeathnotefan98 Just get the Iron Flesh pyromancy. Then have some stamina reg items like green blossom, grass crest shield etc. Then you can simply autoattack him to death :)

@crippe1000 oh yeah, i did, i beat this game ages before posting this comment, im just saying gwyn is a double edged sword in terms of difficulty, if you use parry and iron flesh (when lets face it, it is a pretty cheap strategy) hes easy as all shit, but if you dont use that tactic hes is genuinely the hardest fucking boss in the game lol

This is all very well but you got so lucky there, its very unlikely he will spam his normal sword strike like that. If he does a grab attack while youre close like that, youre fucked.

Psch, you can block him just fine if you don't use some chumpy shield. The Greatshield of Artorias that you can make from any +10 shield and Sif's soul has 88 stability and you'll never be guard broken if you've got any decent amount of stamina in your bar.
