  • Link Wray recorded "Week End" in 1963 and released it as a Swan 45 single, S-4154, b/w "Turnpike U.S.A." in September, 1963. The recording was on the 2004 album Link Wray And His Ray Men–The Swan Singles Collection, 1963-1967, LP 5178, on Sundazed Music.

  • The saxophone player was Rudy Pompilli, who also co-wrote the song with lead guitarist Franny Beecher and steel player Billy Williamson. The record reached no. 35 on the Billboard pop singles chart in 1958. The follow-up single was "The Cat Walk" b/w "Conga Rock".

  • does anyone know for sure??? was the sax player named barry petricoin??? for years that's what i was told. if so he went to high school in a tiny pennsylvania town called shillington...graduated with my brother..class of 58...????
