has anyone else noticed that after beating certain bosses, certain levels are different? (i.e. after beating chill penguin, the lava at flame mammoth is frozen. also, after beating rocket octopus, sting chameleon is flooded.) maybe it does this regaurdless but ive noticed it.

@fourtywpm He's harder when you don't have the weapon that he's weak to (like most other bosses). Without Electric spark, you wouldn't bea ble to damage him so much and he'd be invulnerable while rolling.

right before you fought armor armadillo, when you got on that ledge above his "hideout" you could've jumped down died and got back up there. if you did it 3 times, the hadouken would've been up there instead of a life pack. (hadouken = 1 hit kill)

First of All, love this game.

Instead of going for Spark Mandrill after Chill Penguin, you should take Storm Eagle to get the Helmet Upgrade, then you take on Flame Mammoth and use the Helmet Upgrade to get the X-Buster Upgrade halfway through the stage. Then you go for Spark Mandrill. Also by killing Chill Penguin most of Flame Mammoths stage will be frozen, and by killing Storm Eagle, Spark Mandrills Stage will have a power-outage making the stage easier (if you like that kind of things).

1. Chill Penguin

2. Spark Mandrill

3. Armored Armadillo

4. Launch Octopus

5. Boomer Kuwanger

6. Sting Chameleon

7. Storm Eagle

8. Falme Mammoth

Because the Chill Penguin is the easiest boss, so you have to defeat him first, then you can use the weakness of every boss to make them easier to defeat

I usually beat the game by going to Chill Penguin's area, dying after getting the Leg Upgrade, then go to Storm Eagle/Hawk's area and just go from there, but I might occasionally beat Chill Penguin first.

Btw, if you beat Storm Eagle/Hawk before going to Spark Mandrill's area, the entire area will be dark due to the plane crashing into the stage. This also makes the minibosses easier because they can't get any power.

Unfortunately i ordered the cd like minutes before i saw your comment, but i got an emulator from google, then googles megaman x rom, and ive been playing non stop since this morning, only problems no full screen and 2 it took me FOREVER to figure out how to edit controls for keyboard, WORTH IT.

No problem lol. You can use full screen on any emulator you just have to maximize the window and then stretch it if necessary.

The music in this level is rad. I think the robot master's reaction they started putting in after this game (for example here, when he freezes) makes the bosses look a bit easy! I've not played any of the X games, but in Megaman 7 the same thing happens, especially with Slash Man (again, a weakness to ice which freezes him). Bit of a shame, takes the sense of acheivement out.
