  • I have been there so many times and it never occurred to me that so many people use it to end their life. I am no one to judge them nor do i intend to, but it is a shame that people feel that something is so hard that the only option is death...Rest in peace to all of those who have ended their life too soon...

  • the Camera had motion sensors, so there wasn't just people there recording them.

  • One of the most profound movies I have even seen in my life.

  • @sirscoolrascal go on, elaborate... whats the profoundness? the depth of exploring the taboo of death and killing yourself? LIFE AFTER DEATH, u could read that book, or LIFE AFTER LIFE... another... what do u think of NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES? i've heard that overwhelmingly, if not ALL of suicides go QUITE BADLY in the after life as per their recounting upon return from their suicidal NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE... its one of the reasons i have an extra reason to avoid suicide...

  • At some point of this movie.... a man is talking on the phone. The man seems to be laughing, talking about whatever seems funny to him. then, he just jump.

    He jump to his death.

Why are we able that much to buy new Iphones but unable to help people out there?

Jesus! the guy jumped in front of thousands. No one stopped.

  • @fredyellowone

I saw the movie but I didn't see anyone jump in front of "thousands."

  • @loner1878 sure you did, you saw it captured on film and 1000s have seen it, maybe millions?

  • @glorp896

That's not what meant, genius. The guy I replied to implied the jumpers were in front of thousands of people when they obviously weren't.

  • @loner1878 thats probably not too far off the mark, from a distance, on land, on the bridge, below in the water... obviously 1000s were not seeing the jumpers all at once, but it could have been dozens, 100s? i guess the scale and distance would make it mostly only feasible on or around the bridge - but i bet there were witnesses from the water of these two dozen jumpers that year... and i wonder how many were looking through binoculars... whatever

  • @glorp896

He tried to imply thousands of people were within helping distance when the people jumped.

  • @loner1878 u think he really tried to imply something? or was it just hyperbole, come on, give a guy a chance... a figure of speech here and there... don't be so SPOCK about it... we aint all logical and stuff all the time...

  • @glorp896

That's no hyperbole. And what's your obession here? He your boyfriend or something?

  • @loner1878 no obsession, just an excuse to type (a hobby of mine, because to say i write in this hack fast style of mine would be to give myself too much credit... and no, i'm not a san fran faggo... and yes, to say 1000s would be hyperbole in the case of the context you are criticizing, or should we just say he was wrong by exaggerating? damn, can we move on... like discuss dr. jack K. the DOCTOR DEATH guy who died a day or so ago? his death just BEGS to be made fun of...

  • @glorp896

    Go ahead. Who's stopping you?

  • @loner1878 genius is more like 140 IQ, i'm sure i'm not up to 130 (might be, but i'd really be surprised, the 130 level is kind of a peak as to large numbers of people achieving it, you'd need to see the bell curve, there is a very sharp drop off at 130 and beyond..., but i'm well over 100 for sure... world average according to VDARE is 90 - ashkenazi jews are 112-117, smartest group on earth (unless you want to believe in STORMFRONT)... east asians are up there, 105ish...

  • @glorp896

You may be over 100 but apparently not very good at spotting sarcasm.

  • Comment removed

  • @loner1878 you just called yourself a troll?

  • @glorp896

I shouldn't post when I'm tired, lol. But you know what I meant. Later, troll.

  • @loner1878 troll on fellow troller - i think you started the whole troll bit between the two of us by sarcastically calling me a genius? yes? or did i out troll u thus earning the troll tag? aha! who has trolled who the most?! hehehe, hahaha

in any case, have a good sleep - and NO SUICIDE BUSTER! trolling IS a reason to live! but of course sleeping, eating and sex are better... exercise also, can't forget that one...

  • @glorp896

No, that honor belongs to you for persisting with replying (on two separate videos) and trying to prove some wierd point with random stats. I'm just bored and playing along, but for some wierd reason you seem to take this seriously.

  • @loner ditto backatya - random stats? like they stand for nothing? its all how you use em... i "seem" serious"? trying to test your cyber mind reading technique? why even try to gauge any level of emotion?, you really can't tell can you?... you'd think "hehehe, hahaha" might indicate a not so serious approach, but maybe you didn't read that either?

but really, this is a serious topic - yet i'm reminded of a movie that made fun of a bridge jumping suicide guy, who was quite polite & jumped

  • @glorp896

    *Yawn*

  • @loner1878 oh no, don't get so bored you wanna die! do you think some people are like that? so overwhelmingly dull in their measure of creativity and whim and vision of life being worth it that they just want to die instead...

so what topic is UNyawning for you? whatayagot? race, guns, abortion, drugs, sex, god, no god, anarchy...

  • @loner1878 i didn't really attempt to make some emotional kind of judgment or mind reading motive/intent thing as to what was written - people do this all the time, i don't...

  • this was a crazy movie. Very perfectly illustrated a sad side of humanity without judgement. I am glad I watched it, even though it made me sad.

  • It's easy to miss "seeing" what happens at 2m00s.

  • Tragic.

  • One of the saddest thing's i have ever seen... i saw 10+ people commit suicide through my tv. i'm just at lost...

  • Why paint it orange? It's the GOLDEN Gate bridge

  • The bridge is chuck norris diving board

  • I think this was tastefully done, not exploiting suicides. If he did, he wouldnt have taken the time to interview folks' friends and family. He had police on speed dial and they saved a lot of lives, Police just couldnt get there on time all the time. I was unsure about this movie, but he did it very tastefully and with class, and we got to hear their stories. Otherwise, it never would have been told to so many people...

  • Please peple if you think someone might do this, be nice to them and give them nice food, give them some vicodin or oxycodone , it may give them a different perspective. Sometimes its easy to for them to constantly be depressed, but please convince them that anti-depressants and pain pills can help. It is so much better than taking life away!

  • @StopFear oh yeah, lets get them addicted to pain killers instead....you should write a book on that

  • @scrimpyanimal

If people have a brighter perspective from taking opiate pain medication and the side effect is an addiction I say give them the poppy. The only thing that sucks about an opiate addiction is when you don't have anything. Opium was also used to treat depression until science changed it's mind about what caused depression. People report worse side effects related to modern anti-depressants and most of them are just as addictive.

  • @StopFear Agreed

  • @StopFear Nah, some people who choose to die aren't depressed or mentally ill. Some of them are just not that enamored with life. So you and many other people do enjoy life.... good for you, but don't judge those who don't, and don't tell them that they need to be plugged full of drugs or treated differently from others.

  • @CuriosityRoads

I disagree. I think people whom I've known who were very depressed wanted someone to talk to and someone to be with. They wanted to avoid loneliness and sometimes I think they wanted to be treated different from others because they were depressed in the first places because the circumstances are worse than others circumstances. Yes, I enjoy life, but I often have very bad moments as I have many things in my life that didnt turn out. Also its better to take drugs and live.

  • @StopFear Those are just the people you've known. There are many people who do not want to live in this world as they simply do not find it an appealing place. Enjoyment of life is very much based around luck... not all of us are lucky enough to have the privilege of having had good experiences with people or having made good choices in life. You, like many others, need to accept that there are some people who don't have the same outlook as you. Doesn't make them mentally ill.

  • When I saw this movie for the first time it left me thinking..

  • Hopefully I can kill myself tonight.

  • And the people in SF who want a barrier built are largely the same people in favor of assisted suicide

  • @Karrowt, it's sad that a human could think this way.

  • The height and speed you fall is like, or worse than concrete. As son as you hit the water your fingers, toes, and other loose body parts detatch and your organs like your heart, lungs, and skin keep on moving and exit your body unlike concrete. Then if you lucky, you die. However people have been found dead on the beach in an attempt to swim to safety after the failed attempt.

Nice little grusome physics lesson for you there.

  • They camera crew actually had the bridge patrol on speed dial and they managed to save 23 lives from filming this. I just watched the whole thing on TV. Disturbing but at the same time moving. It's a shame...

  • armchairmaster: they assured everybody that when they saw signs of people preparing to jump eg, removing wallets etc, they called the bridge patrol and let them handle it.

  • if you hit the water do you die?? or is there rocks or something

  • No. But it's over 200 feet above water and you travel at over 75 miles per hour. So you die of the impact.

  • Comment removed

  • you know this is a good documetary but how about STOPPING THEM? don't just let them die and you guys record it! stop it from happening@

  • Thats what I used to think. But if you really think about it, they can't. Most of them are too far away. And once that man or women gets onto the other side of that rail, their mind is racing and their heart is pounding so they don't listen. Its as if they can't hear. So they jump. Like it was an instinct. The people can't stop it. Even if they yelled "NO STOP" it would most likely do no good.. just saying.

  • wow youtube got commercials

  • dr phil is talking about this!

  • animal crackers

  • I WOULD LIKE TO SEE DR.PHILL JUMP OF.

  • he is doing a special today

  • wow 2:02 freaked me out

  • is this movie available online?

  • Jeah, check google video. Someone uploaded it there!

  • oh what dr. phil just started, and im watching it ;)

  • im watching it on DR.PHILL too.

    damn were cool.

  • Wow. Im cool too

  • oh my......this is sad!!! I'm watching this on Dr. Phil right now.....this is sad!!

  • lol dr phil is talking about this right now on tv

  • I think filming this is okay as long as they immediately called 911 to report each person who climbed over the railing as soon as they climbed over. In other words, if they did all they could to intervene then, they werent just benefitting from the footage, they would have concurrently been providing a benefit (in the form of response time) for help to arrive to try to talk people down before they plunge. Some portion of the profits should go to barriers.

  • is the tv programme on here anywhere

  • eric steel is a FUCKING creep

  • where can i purchase this video?

  • I saw a dude jump on my trip to san fransico he was like 4 ppl away from me. I wass messed up some body just said HE JUMPED and that was it most everyone left its kinnda common

  • how anybody can jump from this bridge is beyond me.we spend all this money for war machinery but fail to help out ppl that really need it. this bridge needs a barrier

  • @fvckyoutoo a barrier wont stop there lust for scuicide

  • @fvckyoutoo No, Theres no safety issue...If someone's intent on ending there life they'd find another way of doing it.

  • @fvckyoutoo Suicide is the most stupid thing someone could ever do next to taking another persons life. I say good riddance to these idiots. If they don't value their own lives they deserve it. There is help out there they just choose not to take advantage of it. Suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems.

  • @roboman342

Easy to judge when sitting cushy behind a computer screen, isn't it?

  • @loner1878 Everything he said is completely correct. Suicide IS a permanent solution to temporary problems. Sitting behind a computer screen has nothing to do with it. Each and every one of us has problems. Big, small, and everywhere in between- we ALL have to deal with these things. People out there have overcome issues much larger than the people in the film were faced with. There's really no rational reason to do something like this.

  • @wootslap

Not all problems are temporary or so easily judged.

  • @fvckyoutoo I dont think building a barrier would prevent people from killing themselves....maybe just on the bridge.

  • @fvckyoutoo Because protecting your people doesn't make you money. Going to war, making military contracts, and stocks do. Simple as that.

  • In May 2011, a contract award for the NET SYSTEM Final Design work is anticipated. This $5 million, 18-month final design effort is being funded by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) which, on July 28, 2010, allocated federal grant funding.

Funding to construct the NET SYSTEM (est. $45 million) is not identified, and this funding will not come from Bridge toll revenues. Donations to: GGBHTD, P.O. Box 9000, Presidio Station, San Francisco, CA 94129, Attention: suicide barrier

  • @fvckyoutoo As sad as it is, people will just find a way to get around/over it. And if they don't they'll most likely at least attempt suicide somewhere else or through a different method.

  • my dad works on the bridge....he said it averages about 3-4 sometimes 5 amonth

  • A Really powerful film, This is a film which everyone must see. Im glad that a documentary like this was made.

  • my friend jumped from it and took his life right before this movie came out. i miss him..

  • ok like san francisco has this bridge where people comit most suicides from but..anybody know any other landmarks in usa in some other cityes where people commit suicide..???

  • suicide bridge in Pasadena, CA

  • sunshine skyway bridge, st. pete, FL

  • scum

  • I just got it from netflix.

    Watch it.

  • Where can i get this movie. It's independent so i doubt i can rent it. Where did you guys see it?

  • My wife got it through Amazon

  • Saw it. You usually hear about people being shocked by family members commiting suicide. But the families interviewed were sometimes downright stoic in their interviews becuase the jumpers were so miserable and/or mentally ill for years. A couple of the family members seemed relieved by it. I think a lot of people who commit suicide are better off.

  • CAn some one tell me whats going on.

  • yea its breath taking, very sad

  • Yea this movie will leave you thinking for ever

  • Its a landmark dont abuse it

  • The best documentary I´ve seen in my life. A complete masterpiece!

  • sad sad sad
