Indian Pt's safety & the NRC's enslavement to the nuclear industry can be judged by the way they reacted to the 02 discovery that the insulation on the emergency backup didn't meet the requirement to withstand a 1 hr long fire & would fail somewhere between 27-49 min - a statement itself of troubling ambiguity. Over the years the issue wended its way through some labyrinth in another dimension, and the NRC adjusted the rule to harmonize with I. Pt's 27-49 min capacity!
what does have a defense against jet attacks? lol thats a pretty retarded statement, are all major cities equipped with SAM sites all of a sudden to prevent another terrorist attack? because if so i was not aware, plus great idea to shut it down before we make another alternative energy plant, it only supplies 30% of nycs and 54% of connecticuts energy. great plan bros
Well I suppose all the negative comments below have been answerted by what is going in Japan currently. Fukushima is a good case in point to close Nuclear Power Plants once and for all and invest in alternative energy instead. People need to learn to be more resourceful, especially in the US...Shut down the old plants near bigger cities first. Dont' build new ones. And then use the remaining time to come up with cleaner alternative ways for energy supply. Nuclear energy can not be controlled!!
The Heavy Water never comes close to the river water, its only separated by two entirely separate, closed reinforced water systems. There is also the fact that in the United States, there has never been a death, injury, or illness caused by a Nuclear Plant's radiation. And you think they don't take security seriously? Their Private Army is only trained by ex-Spec. Ops. and Green Berets. Go anywhere near Indian Point and you are being watched...Try being informed, rather than opinionated.
Yeah lets shut it down! It only supplies 10% of New York states electricity...not to mention that most of NYC would go dark seeings how they get most of their power from Indian Point. Absolutely no radiation is given off into the atmosphere or the Hudson River. The reactor is mostly underground, the radioactive closed water system is underground, not to mention the 6 foot thick concrete dome reinforced with re-bar the size of your forearm over head. 1/2
Christopher St. Lawrence is the biggest dirtbag in Rockland County. He is just another person that wants attention by trying to create panic among the masses. We should be trying to educate people about nuclear power, not just say, "it's a bad, bad monster." If people were more informed about the industry there would not be anywhere near the amount of bullshit in the news. And I think you'd be complaining even more about all the coal power plants we'd need to build to replace Indian Point.
willowmx02 thanks man for give an idea to all terrorist u fucking ass hole thanks a lot ,people are so retarded uploading this videos just help terrorist don t be imbesil jerk pos
they said terrorists want targets right? Well, what would be easier to destroy and kill the most people? A huge, reinforced concrete containment vessel, or the Palisades Mall?
(Cont'd. from below): Besides this threat, the plant sits on the Ramapo fault line. If an earthquake strikes, it could spell tragedy. Even New York State opposes license renewal for Indian Point. Please help close this dangerous plant! Write letters, call your legislators, talk to people you know.
there is no direct connection between the thyroid cancer and Indian Point. Would you like to provide actual dose levels that you believe people are receiving around the plant? You are doing nothing more than fear-mongering with no data to back it up. And if we were to close Indian Point can you just magically generate the 2,000+ MW that the plant puts into the grid?
I can't believe this video hasn't gotten more attention! Whether or not Indian Point becomes a terrorist target, it's simply not safe. The areas surrounding the plant, especially downwind of it, have some of the highest cancer rates in the nation, particularly for thyroid cancer, which is inextricably linked to nuclear exposure. Residents are continuously exposed to small doses of radioactive pollutants and larger accidental releases (such as the Nov. 2009 release).

NYC is actually mostly safe from Indian Point. The 10 mile radius(which isn't the city) is the area you want to avoid.

close it now! not later now! i sound like a preacher but whatev! i live withn that 50 mile radius and until im 18, im scared!

i got a question, if terrorist do attack indian point would they start a nuclear explosion if possible? i am very scared that might happen

No. The containment wall will hold up to a plane crash.
raptors222222 2 years ago
although the theoretical limit of the containment vessel will hold, it has never been tested with a plane the size of a 747.
