Anyway as for the fingering itself think of the adjacent fingers to the middle finger as shock absorbers, keeping your finger steady.
Also, if sliding down with the right hand or up the the left hand, you can also use the nail on your thumb, however this takes alot of practice before you know the right angle to not hurt yourself in the process XFD
Yea, well I use my nails kind of. I'm assuming that the part of your fingers that hurt is the skin above the nails??? Cause the piano hurts me there too sometimes.
