Did my post come thru? Maybe not! I think this video is a very creative piece of performance art! I own property on Marrowstone island just outside of PT. Welcome to our community. My daughters would love your Utube. Both are art majors, one at NYU and the other at Cornell. We welcome creativity and and imagination in PT.
So guys, I was here for this, and I just thought I'd mention that we weren't complaining about the ferries. Actually half of the people there had just gotten off the Seattle Port Townsend ferry, which was where we got the idea for the song. It was all random suggestions. Not a political agenda.
And PS, I live in Town, am currently attending college, have held down a steady job, have less facial hair than any guy I know, and DONT smoke pot. Please keep your stereotypes to yourself.
Mysthaven, Your right too. Nothing but a bunch of hop-heads. Try to find a working man in P.T. and you will be looking for a long time. The only ones left work at the mill and the fucking hippies are trying to shut that down. I'm glad we have a nuclear submarine base down the road or there would be no work around here. Drop a bomb on P.T. and start over.
So how about you spend less time mocking friendly hippies and take up a gun yourself and go off to Iraq. Nothing but reasonable people in Port Townsend, try as you might to disagree.
By the way...if no ones works in Port Townsend...who runs the stores...
I have 21 years of military service and just came back from the Middle East last year. I've done my time. How about you? Also, where were all those hippies to protest the loss of human rights when the Taliban and Saddam were in power? Nowhere to be found because you never cared about them because if you did you would have done something. But America gets involved and you losers come out in full force to protest. What have you done to help them or one of the fighting men and women over there?
Typical Port Townsend coward attitude. We can only muster up the energy to protest America but nothing else in the world. I would have more respect for you if you just said you hate America and left it at that. And how would you know what really happens over there since you've never been and I'm sure you never will. Have you ever donated one minute of your time to helping servicemen and women? I'm sure you haven't because you've been taught to loathe the military.
Just like to clear a few things up. I don't live in Port Townsend, and I don't have the military or the US.
I am rather perturbed by the current government is all.
As for the military I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Army, Navy, National Guard, you name it. It takes bravery to put your life on the line. My complaint is that once your in your life is on the line, whatever the cause, regardless of if you agree or not.
I live 15 miles from PT. The majority of PT will tell you they loathe the military and hate the fact that there are military bases in the local area. You can disagree with the government and thats fine but you act like you do not like the military by your comment-"What have you done to help other than destroying homes and killing people?" That shows how much you don't know about whats happening over there. Again please answer the question. What have you done to support the military?
Well supporting the military and approving of what they have done in Iraq are very different.
The people that come out of the military and the morals that they uphold I respect. What they have done in Iraq, even though life is better for many and worse for others, I feel was uncalled for.
So, what I done to support the military?
Personally? Nothing.
My grandfather was a colonel, a cousin of mine is in the marines, a teacher was a major and friend ex marine.
Well at least your honest. The Kurds were gassed, Shities brutalized, women raped, people murdered by the thousands for no reason. For many people in America that is fine since its happening "over there" and not in our backyard. I think thats a sad commentary when we don't care about others living under the yoke of brutal regimes. If you had to live under Saddam's regime would you have wanted the U.S. to invade? My answer is yes.
Thats a valid point. But if that is the case than other world powers should have concerned themsevles with it too. I think if we had too invade it should have been a colaberation between more than one country.
The way it is now, to the rest of the world, it seems that America just stormed in guns blazing and now have no clue what to do.
Which is more or less the reality.
It should be a world issue not a US issue. We (the US) can't police the world. A: not our job, B: we have issues in the US.
I will agree with your point that most countries do not care or are willing to stand by and watch which is a shame. In the 1930's the world developed a policy called appeasement towards Hilter. By the time WW2 ended more than 50 million (Jews, civilians, soldiers) people in Europe died. Saddam was a mini-Hitler and needed to hang. Genocide continues to this day-Serbia, Darfur, Liberia, etc. While we have our our problems here at lease were not being forced into to concentration camps.
You're right Vicitory 1956. How about doing some twice-weekly drug/pot testing starting with the officials... right down to the judges & attorneys. "Illegal" substances seem to be ok by them? Look how quick they are to get them back on the streets to do it again. I'm speaking of "ILLEGAL" substance abuse.
Port Townsend was a great town until the fucking dope smoking hippies moved in. This is a prime example of how fucked up it is here. How about you losers getting jobs and paying some taxes. Or better yet, pick up a weapon and go fight in Iraq you pussies! The women here have more balls and facial hair than the men...Go fuck up some other town.
Let me elaborate.... if you spent half the time actually getting involved in the local government as you did on this video, MAYBE, just maybe you could actually make a difference. How about redirecting all that energy into something useful. Maybe find out your ferry issues come from the way you vote? SHOCKING that the system may actually work and you would have to shoulder some burden for your actions... no, not in Seattle, it's the goverment's fault for all your woes.
Lame. How many types of drugs are you all on? So typical of Port Townsend/Jefferson County people. Swim across! The ferry problems have existed for YEARS out there. Blame yourselves for the in-bred idiots you elect to run your town.
and all did when I was on the thing was use the restroom and play gameboy with my kids

Well I'm not old enough to yet to enlist, so if your asking about my military experience I'm afraid its very limited.
As for not protesting before the US went in, you can't protest every unjust thing in this world. It wasn't our business until we MADE it our business.
Also!
There were people protesting all the support the US gave Saddam.
AND, when you ask what we have done to help?
What have you done to help other than destroying homes and killing people?
Liberating a dictatorship and...

I'd like to clear a few things up. First, I'm not from PT. I live in Idaho wit my spudz.
I don't hate the US, I'm just perturbed by the current government.
I have nothing but respect for the Army, Navy, National guard, you name it. It takes courage to put your life on the line.
But blindly supporting a cause is just a foolish as blindly protesting against it.
As for my time, I like to think I spend it well.
But, back to the issue...
Where are you from?
Why do you hate Port Townsend so much?
