  • i love when they lay down 0:25

  • its not just westies my scottie is like that too

  • Love this--so true. Purse on a door handle, folder on my glass table, anything out of place and my Westie, Charlie, does this same thing. Growls quietly, sneaks up to inspect then backs away, barks, wags his tail very slowly. Funny about the ironing board too--I don't iron much, but my mom usually does the clothes from her suitcase when she comes to visit, and every time she gets it out and starts ironing, especially when she uses the steam button, he just flips out at it. So cute :).

  • hey what is that doing there?

  • this video is awesome, for being such smart dogs they are so dumb at the same time. i've grown up with having a westie my whole life and it's funny how particular they are and when something is out of place or not usually there they always check it out or bark at it haha

  • yeah, my westie freaks out if we rearrange the furniture or a box is in a place where it shouldn't be or something, so cutee.

  • I think I read somewhere that Westies can be very particular about what goes where. I know that with mine, he needs to have his blankets just right and in a certain place. Some are more particular than others though.

  • SO CUTEEE!!!

  • That is so weird! My dog, if anything is in the spot he normally sits, just sits ON whatever is there. Person, pillow, sweatshirt, anything really.

  • i have a westie and hes a big kisser too.and he runs like a crazy too at times in the house.i have videos posted on youtube.

  • my westie does the same

  • @Berus777

nah. my westie thought he saw a mouse in the utility room that turned out to be a sock on the floor, but he still stands in the door way to the utility room and growls ever day since until we go back and get him.

If westies are anything they are very persistent, and will bark for hours at something that has perked their interest if you let them... and sometimes even if you don't let them.

  • My Westie, MacQueen, doesn't mind strangers at all.. He will worn us if someone unknown comes into our yard but he's not about to take off their arm. Maybe lick them to death. ahaha

  • my dog LOVES strangers he gets all happy and pees

  • i have my westie in my arms right now and he started growling:)

  • @Berus777

good point! He's not mad at strangers, he'd mad at me!

  • I have a westie of mine own too and i LOVE how it lies down with his feets sticking out like that westie did it's just soo cute! <3

  • my neighbor has a westie named hannah :)_

  • Our westie has a golden retreiver for a big brother. Guess which one's the boss!

Fantastic dogs with great character and temperament.

We have a boy dog which is our second. Our first was with us when our kids were born and he was absolutely brilliant with them.

  • My Westie is crazy!

  • haha my own westie began barking when she heard this xD

  • Our westie hastes the vacuum cleaner soo much, that he ate the warranty certificate of a new one in the first day after purchase!! He also likes to destroy the supermarket leaflets :)

  • I love when my westie does the froggie legs when he lays down

  • @DangerHaiVoltage haha, me too! i always called it the superman though.

  • My westie hates it when there are new objects in the room and she really hates the ironing board.

  • are westies hyper when they're puppies

  • mine was, but not as bad as other dogs I've seen. In general, he's hyper if I give him attention. If I ignore him, he'd calm down on his own and go to sleep.

  • @tykeavenger24 mines crazy and he's 7 months. if youre gonna get one, get ready for some crazy moments!

  • @tykeavenger24 yes especially when there in a new area because they want to explore

  • @tykeavenger24 All puppies are hyper! Westies tend to chill out sooner than most breeds, but they maintain their spontaneous crazy vibe personalities all their lives. They need to be watched carefully but it's true what they say. Westies are the only breed of small dog that really believe they are a big dog.

  • =D I love my Westie. He's still eight months old, but he's so big! He's adorable though, lolf. My dog does the exact same thing, but almost with everything. Whenever I move my chair around the room, or drop some papers, he goes bezerk. I love it how they're so loyal. When there's visitors (he absolutely loves new people that comes in our house) he goes crazy, but when I call him he immediately comes to me, and then never leaves my side until I let him. Best breed in the entire world!

  • Love how he stretches his hind legs before started barking... cute dog!

  • The allergies can be SO horrible :( I'm sorry. There are days when Andy can't even walk 2 steps without scratching. I can't even feel even 1/4 of what you felt :( I'm sorry.

Westies are definitely worth it! I am definitely considering getting another!

  • Westies are the best

  • My Westie does EXACTLY the same thing bless her . and she just hates it when i start to sweep the laminates , she goes completely mental and actually wants to kill my broom lol ( in a playful way though)

  • Haha nice video , my 18week old westie seems to love strangers and will wag his tail til it nearly falls off! , Hes like this aswell , hates anything out of place Haha

  • Terriors, westies and cairns and the like, are very protective. I had two westies. I had a cairn who like males and growled and barked at the females in the house.

  • We've been thinking about getting a Westie....are their coats/fur coarse/rough or soft to the touch? I read that they're wire-haired.

  • you should google that more. Ours is very soft. it's a little bit more rough on the back. I've rarely seen a youtube video of a westie that doesn't look soft to the touch.

  • I'm getting a westie in march of next year, and i was wondering, do you think that a boy dog would be more suited to an enviroment with younger children, as ive heard frm alot of people that they are and have better tempraments, ive always wanted a girl. but realisticly need to pick the best for our enviroment =]

  • I'm not a Westie expert. I just happen to have ONE nearby :o) I do think Andy has a wonderful temperament. I wouldn't trade his personality for any other in the world (okay, maybe Doug's from the movie Up, haha). However, my dog does not like to be taunted and will bite. Otherwise, if he's playful he won't harm...it may seem he will bite, but he just playfully nibbles.

  • They have a double coat, and they were originally bred to have a more wiry outer coat to protect them from briers and such while they were hunting small animals. However, you can find them with both silky and wiry coats.

  • My westie hates the hoover. It is so funny

  • my westie hates the hoover. i'll probably post a vid of it soon, its funny as hell

  • Omg too darn cute he looks and acts just like my baby maddie they must be twins

  • Haha! My Westie, Kirsty. hates the ironing board too! She's barking at this video as I type! I don't think Westies are so clever really - having owned a Labrador!! I love them both though.

  • they are clever!! my westie can open his cage... ( on the inside and outside) , open our screen door, can do 10 tricks with onley hand signals, and can go out of the kitchen when all you do is point.

  • @mikwerules tell me about it. i can't even count on two hands how many nights i've put him away in his cage, and latched it, and gone to bed only to wake up with him licking my face at 2 in the morning.

  • also we try and keep him on his leash attached to the lazy boy chair when guests, or my nephews are over so he's not constantly trying to climb all over them to lick them to death. quite a few times he has figured out how to undo the metal clasp to his leash. and we all just look at each other in disbelief while he's off hunting for a sock.

  • I like the haircut on yours...I hate the skirt styles.....im gettin one in a few months

  • We cut our dog's hair at home (he cannot stay still when he is nervous around strangers!). We usually trim the face area by hand and the rest of the body gets a close as possible shave with an electric shaver (haha, that is why you see that his arms and legs are soooo uneven). Sometimes it is cut too close so this video likely shows him a lil grown out already.

  • my westie's a bit weird...it only likes cat food and HATES dog food lol

  • does anybody know what kind of dog "haircut" this style is called? so ill know when i go to the groomer

  • oh, that is my dog! my sister is recording it.

  • dude that looks just like my westie!

  • My westie's exactly the same, and smart like people, totally!

  • I love this. My Westie acts just like that.

  • Westies are the best! My little Romeo is my first and he is a doll and a great big Mama's boy!

  • i love 0:28

  • The doggie would make a good housekeeper.

  • Both of my westies lay like that. I read they are tunneler hunters, IE they burrow down to rabbits and what not. So I got them the smallest childrens cloth tunnel with hoops I could find. They will chase each other through that thing for hours. If you have a pair, get one and watch the fun. Other than that, mine dont realy act out. They bark at strangers till I tellem its all good. Oh, and they lay waste to the squirel population. =/

  • yeah... when i take out the trash bin to the street my westie gets all worked up and starts barking at it

  • my westie paddy freaks out at our ironing board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has anyone elses dog done this??????

he doesnt get on with phil our weimaraner either.

think its because paddy was there first.

  • yes

    mine does that too

he goes mad at the ironing board and barks at it loads.

I wonder if there are anymore that do that?

  • My mom would call our Westie "Archie" when he would as my dad would call it "make a deposit" in the backyard.

  • well i have 1 westie and sometimes it gets bored realy easy but its easy to look after 1 but if you can afford the time and effort of looking after 2 it would be advisable as the westie can entertain them selfs when you cannot!

  • At 0:28 Westie gets into position for "spread eagle slump" as we would call it when mine did that. At 0:30 goes into the position with all its glory. At 0:47 he goes for the split variant as my Westie would do. My Westie didn't like furniture being moved. He would jump on the furniture. He also HATED vaccum cleaners. He would bite and attack it.

  • i left my mums cupboard door open (it has the hover in it) and the next morning we foind pard of our hover down stairs in his room XD!

  • LOL he exploited that opportunity!

  • yes but i loved how he put all the parts under his pillow and was trying to hide the parts and looking all inocent with the grey dust over his face! . . . you just gota love emm

  • Thats hilarious! Westies are smart, its like they are people. My Westie would take the bread bowl from a breadbowl salad when we were done eating and run off with it as it covered his face obstructing his view. He would try to bury it, but basically it just meant getting dirt all over the bowl.

  • i thought only my westie had OCD!!!!! She can't turn right (similar to how Derek Zoolander couldn't turn left), and when you want her to come in from the backyard, she has to run up to the door, run back into the backyard, circle our shed counter-clockwise, and then she'll come in. every time.

  • hahaha that is too cute!

hehe my westie isnt that bad

but once, I put the pillow he usually lays on up in a high shelf(so I could vacuum the floor), and he flipped out at me for touching his pillow!!

he started barking at me, and wouldnt stop until I put The pillow back!

    hahah

    =)

  • my westie fell out with me because every night he gets ownage of my pillow and i got their before me so he barked at me and then sat on my head untill i gave in!

  • Funny you should say that but one of mine(Max)always walks the opposite way to the other 3 when we leave the kitchen to eat our food in the front room!..He always goes towards the back door and then turns round while the other 3 do a U-Turn!:)

  • our westie, angus, is afraid of the ironing board too! and he is also afraid of the vaccum cleaner. but he is a sweetie!

  • One of my 4 Westies chases the damn Lawn-Mower when I do the garden!..I have to keep her in!...she also charges after the Hoover,as well!

  • yer my westie rocky does tht 2

  • jaja aayy que tiernoo

    so cute XD

  • That is hilarious!

  • my westie goes fuckin nuts if the ironig board comes out.

fuckin freaks out runs up2 it and growls, barkes, etc!!!!!!!!!!

    anyone know why??????????

  • you people who are making fun of the dog are idiots.

i can tell you westies and cairns do not like anything out of place. they know when something is out of order. thats why he is barking.

  • yeah my dog is the same way

  • Your so right .. My baby is blind in one eye and if there is anything out of place she will sense it and go completely bonkers

  • my westie attacks the mud flaps on the truck next door

  • haha! My Westie does this too! Only she's got a whole list of "strangers"--from the baby stroller to my sister's clarinet. Psycho dog!

  • that's funny! Whenever I take my ironing board out, he doesn't bark but he eyes it very cautiously and watches my EVERY move when I iron.

  • i thought that he was going to eat someone or something!!

  • lol, exellent, le mien aussi fait sa quand il trouve qq chose bizar

  • mine westie dosen't like stangers either but loves poeple. kirby (westie) barks when you where a hat

  • Mine is just like his. He barks at nothing at all. And he hates when you take the garbage out, then jumps and "attacks" if you come on the deck from the driveway

  • When my dog does this, I talk to him, then ask him 'what is it?' and get the item and show it to them. communicate with your dogs, they understand more than you think. Reassure them, but dont make a big deal out of it. Dont baby them.

Cute video and Westie of course!

  • lol so xute

  • our westie doesnt like the postman xD lovely creatures though :)

  • Haha, I can't believe my westie is exactly the same! She barks everytime the postman comes to the door, and at the bin outside for some reason... They are noisy little buggers I can tell you that.

  • LOL, that is the sweetest thing ever. He's protecting you!

BTW, the way he lays... with his belly flat on the floor and his legs stcuk out behind him, my westie does that, too! I always thought it was a quirk of his. So funny.

  • That is hilarious! Is this a westie thing? Mine likes to befriend beetles! He also barks if a neighbor parks their car in a different way or takes the garbage out!

  • Probably? He likes to bark at anything out of place. Or if a package comes in the mail...he HAS to sniff it first or he'll bark wildly at it. He doesn't like the idea that a strange mailman left something unfamiliar at our door!
