im from europe and i have on scania f12 and travel all europe but i want to be a trucker on US and i have one 2005 Mack CXN612......the best movie...sorry for my bad english
You cant imagine how much impact this movie had on my childhood haha. I watched it around 1000 times (we got it bit later behind the iron curtain) All i wanted to be was a truck driver ;)
@paulwilson28 They deleted the best scene in the movie that gave the whole story its biggest punch. Without that scene (also available on Youtube), it made them look like nothing more than a bunch of Neanderthals who liked crashing into buildings. I'm guessing political censorship was responsible.
@TRKizm i'm sorry, but in what way does either convoy, or any part of the movie or characters have any kind of similarity with either deathproof, or tanantino? what does deathproof have to do with tanantino for that matter?
@McFearsome2 Death Proof movie references guide: Stuntman Mike's Death Proof cars (70s Chevy Nova/70s Dodge Charger feature replica of the "Rubber Duck" icon hood ornament which was first used in the Sam Peckin action film Convoy (1978) on Rubber Duck's (Kris Kristofferson) truck - The Quentin TaRantino Archives (Google search)
This film had everything--amazing director, heavy social issues, cops and outlaws, trucks, a sexy Ali MacGraw, a surprise ending, and killer action and chase scenes. It's still a classic over three decades later.
I was only age 7 when my dad took me and my brother to see this film !!! we are both driving trucks just like our dad did ,that was 33 years ago. how i miss my dad x
All you four wheelers out there: Drive smart, and give us lots of space! We can't stop on a dime, and we want to get your freight delivered on time and safely! :)
It might interest some of you to know that because of the actual event it is now illegal to run a convoy, they have limits on how many trucks can run together and if they go over it they can be pulled over, fined, and forced to break into smaller groups.
@LegoMovieMan44 , check your history dude, this movie was based on an attempt by several large trucking companies to monopolize the trucking industry and driver independent drivers out, independent drivers took offense and fought back, were it not for them you would be paying a lot more for what you buy today.
@pdogger1, Trucks bring to your home things who you can't have in any way but importing them from some other place, and you're not that grateful to them. Hey, but even you can do a socially useful work: getting your ass off the internet!
Truck drivers are the dregs of society. Trying to glorify a pathetic occupation such as this film attempts is like glorifying the job of that port-a-potty truck that runs around sucking the crap out of shitters.
@1972JICase970 There were 2 versions of the song. This version was the actual single that was played on the radio. The movie version accompanies the storyline. The movie version mentions the Bulldog Mack with a can on back.
One of my all-time favourites, thank you!!! I agree with @newguyhere below, I'm hardly interested in recent films (esp Hollywood craps). You're so young, and how mature you are.
Ahhh, the 70's in America! Time has gone so fast!! Love the 35mm film movie makers used way back when. Hate the hi-tech look nowadays but that's just my opinion. I'm getting old!!
@newguyhere nah i'm 16 and i couldn't agree more. the media industry isn't looking to create classics anymore. they just produce movies they're sure as possible are the least likely to flop i.e. frat pack, twilight/harry potter, pop music with a select few already successful artists etc. and if they can't be sure, they fill it with revered actors and actresses like leo decaprio and kiera knightley. it all went downhill after the lord of the rings in my opinion, with a few acceptions.
@4fuggsake Well, my father, uncles, and grandfather were truckers so they liked it, hahaha. Seriously though, they did not drive like that. Ah, who was hotter in that movie, Madge Sinclair or Ali McGraw?
