  • Hi, I stumbled across your channel and I must say that I LOVE it! So informative and enlightening at the same time. My question is where can I purchase the pH strips from? I made the leave in conditioner but only had black castor oil. What's the difference in the cold pressed castor oil & the black castor oil? I only made half of what you originally called for. Keep the videos coming.

  • Will Fruit Of The Earth Aloe Vera Juice work ?

  • I love your videos I just subscribed but I've been watching for a while. Your freaking awesome...lol and funny.

  • I've noticed if you are using Giovanni's leave-in conditioner, it is not necessary to add any aloe vera juice or gel; just the oils. The reason for this is because the second ingredient after water in the leave-in conditioner IS aloe vera juice.

  • great video...

Where do you buy the ph strips from?

    Thanks...

  • Where did you purchase the test strips??

  • Also how often can this leave in be used and I'm not sure if it was already asked but what would you recommend for a daily moisturizer? I am currently working with 3-6 inches of hair. Btw I love your channel and all of your vids MsV! :0)

  • I see that in another vid you use the kimmaytube leavin and seal with castor oil. Does it matter that you are using castor oin in the leave in and as a sealant?

  • I have nothing but great things to say about this leave in, however, I was wondering...After applying it, what do I do with my hair? Can I then put my shea butter and twist, am I able to blow dry afterwards? Also how often do I put the leave in, is this just after each wash or cowash? Help!

  • does the castor oil have to be processed it can't be in a jar?

  • Hey Ms V! Does this leave-in conditioner give you a very defined twist out? If so, I'm excited!

  • Where can I purchase Aloe Vera Juice from?

  • Go to Amazon.com type in ph- fix 0-14 these are the strips you are looking for.

  • ok so turns out i have the wrong aloe vera juice! i have the aubry organics (i guess it is the kind that is used for first aid). i didn't know that there are two different kinds of aloe juice! i already mixed it all and made the kimmaytube...i have used it and i guess it is ok..not really in love with it, but it does it's job lol. i am wondering though...since i used the wrong thing, should i toss it and buy the right thing and remake it? what would you advise?

  • I just made this. I must say it left my sons hair very moisturized. I am planning on using it tonight. I shampooed his locs with Giovanni deep moisture shampoo conditioned with Giovanni deep moisture conditioner and protein hair infusion then I applied the leave in. His hair is very nice. I think I found my product line at last.

  • can the raw aloe be used? anybody from jamaica that has done this could u help me out plz?

  • Ms. V, where do you get the pH strips from?

  • Ms. V, I enjoy viewing your videos. I am a newly natural sister. Can you make this leave in conditioner if you do not have the ph strips?

  • How would you store bigger quantities of this mixture? I have three heads (myself and my two daughters) that I want to use this mixture on and the little jar that you made is enough for one head. lol... Since it has Aloe Vera Juice in it - I was curious if I needed to store it in the refrigerator if I make a larger batch?

  • @aunaturel210 I had the same question. I tried to find how other people were storing their mixtures on the hair boards but no luck. Just wondering the same thing: Do I need to store bigger quantities of this in the fridge since it has aloe vera?

  • Thank you Ms.V!

  • I just cayght wind of yr vids and seriously, i love the white background on a lot of them espesh for this vid 'cuz I can see clearly how the ingredients look as you manipulate them. Good vid chica.

  • Hi! Allergy to Aloe, any substitutions?

  • oops, i have one last question, how would u store the Kimmay Tube leave in?

  • am in the middle of making the Kimmay tube leave in, thanks so much for posting this :D oh question, where did u get your pH test scrips?

  • Olive oil?

  • I just tried this and my hair is so soft. My hair usually feels dry and brittle after it air dries. Can't wait to try this on my daughters hair too. Thanks for the tip.

  • where do you get the ph test strips from?

  • Could i use aloe vera oil if i dont have aloe vera juice?

  • V!!! Is there an original vidjo for the kimmaytube leave-in that everyone is raving about!? I totally took your word for it and made it based on this video, I just wanted to see if there was one that Kim did and I haven't been able to find it chil'e. :)

    Thanks

  • where did you buy the strips from?

  • This really works for me, thank you. I am 21 days into my BC and have been looking for a moisturizer and I must say, no product has moisture my hair better than this receipe, I watch this vidoe just in time becos I was almost giving up. Thank you.

  • Thanks so much

  • you read my mind I was just thinking of my grapeseed oil....lol

  • Do you know the ph of the castor oil and the jojoba oil? This is right on time I've been researching ph and hair. Thanks again for the GREAT vid!!!!

  • @memenhuneebs They are both at about a 6

  • can u use shea butter as a leave in for the recipe??

  • i nearly forgot about that leave in...thank you for this! i tried it the other day and my twist out has never been so defined. the direct leave in with this recipe, some oil & shea butter works amazingly.

  • So is the Lily of the Desert aloe vera gel(inner fillet) ok to use?

  • @shereejny1 Yes it is

  • Wow amazing.. Great video !!

  • thank you very helpful!!!

  • WOW, it was hard to find castor oil, but it was worth it! I used it on my daughters natural hair before I twisted it down. Both girls have thickness but texture is like night and day. I really love the results, thanks for putting this vid up.

  • You can get castor oil from your drug store, Indian or ethnic grocery and any natural food store. It is available for sale online, just look for cold-pressed, hexane free and of course, there should be no additives other than castor beans! Happy hunting!

  • @TonyMrBoring YES YOU CAN. Haha

  • Comment removed

  • hi love your vids!...Question could you subsitute jojoba oil for any other type of oil, like sweet almond or olive oil? would this work the same?

  • @Mzz87napptural Yes it will

  • I love this leave in! I make mine with Knot Today, Africa's Best Hair Oil, and Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice. I used to measure all the time, but now I modify it using less oil. I find that the aloe vera juice is key and anything else can be changed to fit your needs. I have to say that I can definitely feel a huge difference in my hair when using this.

  • @budgetbeautybella Yes, Aloe is the key for pH...the oils have different benefits to them.

Next week I will be doing a whole series on Jojoba oil, Coconut oil, and Grapessed oil...it is very interesting what all these oils do.

  • In the original Kimmaytube video that was removed, she used conditioner, not leave in conditioner. I guess if it works for you, you could use either one. I use conditioner and it works beautifully....love Kimmaytube for sharing her recipe

  • I have locs. Can i use this method for my hair?

  • About to make this right now. Thanks! and God bless

  • Where can I get aloe gel from and what brand would you recommend?

  • One more thing...could I use different measurements? Instead of using 2 TSP, could I use 4? Just to have more @ one time.....

  • @SimplyNatural85 Yes you can double the measurements if youd like

  • where did u get tha jojoba oil.?

  • @prettychiccswagg18

I get mine from Earth Fare.

  • @gwyn247 Thank you! =)

  • i must say u have the right disposition for being a utube guru

  • I really love this recipe. thanks for sharing!!

  • Has anyone ever tried this using darcy botanicals daily leave-n conditioner? I plan on making it sat. Thanks :)

  • @MsPleasantone Im sure it will be fine. Use the creamy leave-in that works best for you hair.

  • I have never heard of Kimmaytube what does this actually do for your hair. I have natural hair so I was just wondering. I only heard about it becasue I subscribe to your lovely channel. By the way you have really nice white teeth, lol.

  • @TheVanessa220 KimmayTube is the name of a natural hair YouTuber that did her research and experimented with this mix for 6 months. This recipe is pH balanced for hair and will lay your hair cuticles down which in turn will retain moisture. And thank you! =D

  • Thanks for posting this vid...kimmayTube has made the vid private and I was searching and searching but many ppl were adding more of their on spin on it. You are heaven sent! and your hair is beautiful

  • @SweetHuneyDipz No problem! =)

  • Thank you!

  • MsVCharles is the ish. She has the best personality ever. Really seems that anyone could be friends with her. Really down to earth. Just seems like an awesome person. Lol as if yall can't already tell, I really dig her.

  • @javanity08 Wow...you are really making me blush...thank you so much for your kind words. =D

  • I keep my kimmaytube leave in in the same little rubbermaid container. lol.

  • Thank you for actually demonstrating how to make this. I have the recipe from her page but she removed the actual tutorial how how to make it. So thanks again Vee!

  • @MeNaturallie Anytime! =D

  • *is

  • I'd this only for natural hair, or can relaxed girls use this too ?

  • @cynni16 Yes, anyone can use this recipe...it is pH balanced for hair. =)

  • How often do y use the leave-in? Daily? Once a week?

  • @SimplyNatural85 On my wash day and thoughout the week if I feel it necessary. Check out my video #168 to see how I apply both this leave-in and castor oil

  • Where do you get the strips from? Also what do you spray on your hair when it gets dry during the week? Do you spray water then you put the Kimmay leave in? Thank you so much for this video.

  • @MegaCocobelle I got mine online. You can get them from LuvNaturals as well. It all depends on how I style my hair. with the style I have on in the video, I only moisturized once this week [wash day]. Check out my video #168 to see how I apply both this leave-in and castor oil

  • Yes, it dose work i use it all the time. I went to my natural food store yesterday to get more castor oil a bigger bottle. They had still did have the Giovanni leave in condition???? I live in MD anyone know where i can find it at...HELP....LOL

  • @ahallm3 try looking at tj maxx from time to time they have really high end natural products and normally the giovanni kit

  • Can you use the leave-in after u blow dry your hair or would it be better to use on wet hair after I wash and condition?

  • @browneyedivah It's better to do it before you blow dry.

  • great demo!

  • Actually no, but I love that conditioner!!! The trader joe is the bomb!!

  • @MochaDaLyte I would personally suggest using the creamy leave-in that you normally use.

  • Great vid! BTW your patience w/ answering ppl asking the same questions w/o first reading to see if the answer was already given is truly remarkable & shows a lot about your character. Just had to give you some props!

  • @MamacitaNatural Oh wow..haha...thank you so much! =)

  • Can I use Trader Joes conditioner? Or dies it have to be a leave in?

  • @MochaDaLyte Do you usually use Trader Joes as a leave-in?

  • Ok!!!! Thank you so much I will be going to the store and picking up some Aloe Vera!!!!! :)

  • @ithangurl1 Right on! Just make sure it is not the first aid aloe for the skin...100% Aloe that you can eat/drink is what you are looking for.

  • Ms.V I saw in another video on how to make this that if you use the Giovanni Direct Leave in that you didn't need to use Aloe Vera can you confirm this or either maybe elaborate on this for me? Thanks I have made the kimmaytube mixture and I can tell the difference in my hair.

  • @ithangurl1 This would be incorrect. I have also been asked about adding Aloe to the mix if Aloe was already in the ingredients of Giovanni. Well the whole purpose of adding Aloe is to bring the acidity reading higher...as you saw in the video, I showed the reading of Giovanni alone and it was NOT at the pH level we are looking for.

  • Do you use the Kimmaytube Leave-in when you plan use gel to slick back your hair, like for a puff? If so, does it clash with the gel?

  • @liltweedy3 Yes I do use this leave-in with my gel and I do not get flakes. I even used to shingle with gel layered on top of this leave-in and I wouldnt experience flakes for the entire week. I think a major part of it is that I still seal my hair with castor oil after using the leave-in...allowing the gel to dry softer than it would on dry hair.

  • @MsVcharles Thanks so much for taking the time out to respond. U make being a subscriber enjoyable and interactive! :)

  • good to know, thanks! :)

  • Great video!

  • I think it's important to note that if someone chooses to use Aloe Vera Gel- it CANNOT be the kind that people use for their skin (For example: The Fruit of the Earth brand of Aloe Vera gel made to sooth sunburn or dry skin).. because that kind is NOT ACIDIC enough to give you the results needed to close the cuticle- and result in super soft and moisturized hair. :)

  • @unicqueky YES...very good point! Ive seen this done before and it is not the natural aloe vera gel that this recipe calls for. And it is also the reason pH strips are something you want to have around.

  • MsV, your hair tips, routines, and styles are excellent every time! How do you always know what we need! I made & wore a MsV crocheted scarf yesterday! A group of young girls are making them, and calling them Ms.V scarves in KC!

  • @Savantskd HAHA...how cool is that. Well I am happy to hear that you are enjoying the vids. Thank you so much for the comment and the support! =)

  • I love this leave-in. I have even used a little Argan Oil.

  • Comment removed

  • Love this stuff! After much trial and error I found that it really was the only moisturizer that made my hair super soft and smooth without being greasy. Plus I got bangin twistouts with the Kinkycurly version using DearNaptural's defined twistout method

  • MsVcharles how do use This in your Hair reg.

    What Is your Hair reg.

  • @mdockery08 This is a moisturizer..so you would use it as you would your regular moisturizer

  • Love It

  • Thank you for this video.

  • hey MsVcharles would you use this product on the yarn braids??

  • @thebestof06 No I would not. I would not use any types of thick creamy products on any braids because they cause buildup. You can always add a little aloe vera juice to water in a spray bottle and use that. Stick with watery priducts for your braids. =)

  • I concur! I have never tried it with aloe vera gel, is the PH balance the same?

  • @LadyKay78 Yes it is. I have used both juice and gel and it is always the same.

  • @MsVcharles You may have to check the pH of certain commercially available aloe vera gels though. The particular brand I use has neutral pH as it has been stabilized with sodium hydroxide and thus would not be preferable for this recipe.

  • @imacdiva Yes, the gel that I was using was the same brand as the juice I used in the video. It was NOT the first aid type used for burns...that is not the Aloe Vera Gel I am speaking of.

  • My hair loves this during the fall/winter - not so much during the warmer months. It really is moisturizing. My hair isn't that thick so I only make half of the recipe at a time.

  • great vid! I always love how you take your time with the details for your videos.

  • Thank you! Very good demonstration. :)

  • does it expire? if yes how long does it last for?

  • @youngebz07 Keep it in your frige. Dont over do it with how much you make. As long as you dont see mold or smell anything funny you are good to go...lol. I only make (at the most) 4 oz at a time.

  • Ms V, what ph should the products be for natural hair?

  • @pamdfos pH for hair is the same across the board 4.5 - 5.5 this is the pH of sebum.

  • Thanks for showing us this process step by step!!! That was very helpful! I only need to buy the oils and then I can make the product. :)

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Does it matter if I use Aloe Vera Juice-Whole Leaf instead of the Inner Fillet like you do? I am pretty sure it does not. . . but I am asking just in case.

  • @zippyspring No it should be the same.

  • @MsVcharles, Thanks for the response and thanks again for taking the time to put up the recipe for us.

  • I love this leave in. I have been using this every since Kimmaytube introduced this on her channel. This is my go to product. You can purchase pH strips from kimmay's web site

  • Where did you find the ph strips?

  • @jynxgirl03 search online. You can find them on Amazon and on LuvNaturals

  • Thank you, been lookin for this recipe for ages!

  • Sooooo cool !!!

  • Whats the difference between jojoba oil and castor oil

  • @omgrrrrrrrrrr They come from two different plants

  • @omgrrrrrrrrrr Yes different plant and different properties

  • What's the difference between jojoba oil and castor oil?

  • Would you still need to some type of sealant afterwards??

  • @gasweetie83 No it is not needed however I still like to do so for my hair

  • Kinky curly it works great the only difference in the ingredients is the tiny twirls don't have any added fragrance. It works well as a substitute for people with sensitive scalp. Thanks for posting the video Vee!!!

  • I absolutely love this mix. I started off using it, then I got in a product junkie phase. I been using it for the past two month and my hair absolutely loves it. My hair is more MOISTURIZED and healthy. I am also retaining more length. Whole foods sell out of the knot today like crazy so I been using Tiny Twirls from kinky cur

  • Thank u Ms. V!!

  • Wheren did u buy the ph tester

  • @21angelasmith search online. You can find them on Amazon and on LuvNaturals

  • wow! much needed vid thank u Ms Vcharles!

  • Yes it does work!!! Love this stuff!

  • Love this! I've always wanted to try making this leave in but I've been too lazy to look it up.

  • Luv your channel and insight on everything, I have a short twa so should I be using the whole amount or just enough to coat the hair (wash n go)?? if I am coiling or twisting should I use for each twist or coil or all over??

  • @TheMommy1215 Use product to your liking

  • Hey, Ms. V! I'm sure this has been answered a few times but does it make a difference in ph balance if the aloe vera juice is whole leaf or inner fillet?

  • @drelle504 No there is no difference

  • Thanks for posting.

  • Thank u!!!

  • Thank you so much for this....I was able to follow along and mix mine up cause I already had all the ingredients (except the ph strips) now I am ready to go apply it to my hair!!!

  • Thanks for the video I just added some new color to my crown area and I think this will for sure help keep my hair nice and moist =)

  • would the aloe from the leaf work the same as the store bought because i have some planted in my yard or will it go bad

  • @mandyreyes01 Put the gel from the inside of the leaf in a blender to make aloe vera juice. I've done this before and it works. You'll have to put the conditioner in the fridge anyway so its fine.

  • @madametj thanks for that bit of info!!

  • Thanks!

  • You have such a kind spirit. Thank you for doing this.

  • Thank you. 8-)

  • Thanks for the video. I'm excited to try this!!!

  • Where do you get your pH strips from?! Also is it okay to substitute the jojoba for olive oil or grape seed?!

  • @TNSwilling search online. You can find them on Amazon and on LuvNaturals. And yes

  • Thanks, Vee!!!!! You a sweetie pie.

  • Love ya for this vid comparing the two different leave ins brilliant!!!!!

  • Can you tell me how long this mixture will stay in the fridge. (How many days will it last you) And also the aloe vera juice? that bottle is huge, seems you would have it a long time. Does it spoil?

  • @FretabAdiva I have a large container of aloe vera juice in my frige for 6 months and it is still good. As for the mixture I always double the recipe and it may take me 2 to 3 weeks before I use it up. So if you don't see any thing growing on your mixture or if it does not have a weird smell you should be ok.
