Using a USB drive as memory in Vista and XP

this doesn't work, xp never puts pagefile on removable devices and all USB devices are considered removable, you can only play with the setting in the dialog but it does not create a pagefile on the drive...

No it wont add memory to your computer. It will just speed up your computer by storing virtual memory. So don't expect to see and drastic changes in your computer performance.

can you remove the usb while the pc is on? or you must leave it there permanently?

i would suggest leaving it in the computer while it's on. Then when you turn off the computer you can take it out. Just because it will be accessing the USB and storing data.

if your using Microsoft's Virtual PC then you have to go into Setting, then there is an area to change the memory by moving a slider bar.
