GREAT NEWS EVERYONE- this organ has just been sold with one of Lythgoes steamy engines to a man in Exeter who has bought both for three million. Can not wait to see what happens to the Marenghi. Spread the word please
That MIDI system is not working properly. It's mangling the music!
I spent many hours operating that organ when it played books. You had to frequently correct the power supply voltage so that the music kept playing at a constant speed. Maybe that's a clue about the electronics problems?
onr reason to go to the thursford collection is that i think all their organs play from the book.admittedly ,they never leave the shed, but one of them is a 104 year old marenghi, possibly the last full pipe size marenghi in the world...
Frank's organ indeed plays on a midi system and there has been a lot of debate about fitting midi systems to organs in the UK. One thing you have to say tho, is that at least this organ is now traveling again.. there are a lot of organs don't travel anymore because the owners are too old to take them out or other reasons.. I would rather see an organ out and playing on midi that stuck in a shed...
yes it is on one of those MIDI Computer things that I know nothing about.......there has been a lot of talk about it over the years and it is quite obviose that older organ enthusiasts want it putting back to Keyframe operation.....I agree with that!
the organ is infact up for sale as it has been for a couple of years.....there was some talk about a guy called Jack Dixon buying it fairly recently but I do not know who he is?

I love this organ to bits but I wish it would be put back to book operation as do most of the other organ lovers!
The tune is a spannish march called " Jueraz March " and the 98 Key Gavioli of Neil and Freda Corner " has this exact book of music aswell!
Fantastic tune for a fantastic organ!!!

So this organ is playing MIDI files then? That explains why it was playing more or less continuously while the other organs paused regularly.
