The show died with Marissa! Seriously, She was one of the best characters, I don't get why people hate her either.. Taylor just came to replace her..1. She started dating with Ryan 2. She became closer with Summer 3. She lived with Julie and Kaitlin.. I think it's enough say that Taylor just didn't fit in the show. although i think Marissa's death was unexpected and was a really good story not like all shows! and clearly Ryan & Marissa were the best together!

I love the hardcore Barton fans who hate season 4,Marrisa was always doing trashy things she was not a very rootable character and lets admit it she was not the greatest actress in the world.

Good idea but i wouldn't advise you to write the story with same characters that would ruin the whole point of the end of the show ,they summed it up on the end is not near it here Seth ,and summer end up together and Sandy became a school teacher. The actors in the show made the o.c. the O.C. but you could make it taking place a Berkly where Seth and summer are living with Mr. and Mrs. Cohen good luck!

It stopped due to a long dropping of ratings. Season 1 averaged almost 10 million viewers, season 2 averaged 7 million, season 3 averaged only 5.6 million and season 4 average 4.3 million. ratings were why, but the show was going to be canceled before marissa's death. They were hoping the death would help ratings. It hurt.

They had given her two choices for the ending of her character. She chose to kill her off but she didn't say what the other choice was. Okay so this is what I think, I'm sure all of us are totally not over the OC we wanted it all, them going to college together and graduating and basically Marissa ending up with Ryan. They made a big mistake letting Mischa Barton go and they knew that. I don't even consider season 4 as part of the OC. It should've ended in season 3 instead of having a worthless season. yeah it belonged to marissas step dad and seths grand dad and i think he died of a heart attack or somethin so it was being sold and marissa was supposed to be goin away with her dad on a yauht (dunno how to spell that :p) so they were sayin good bye to her and then on the way to the airport her ex boyfriend rammed her and ryan off the road and she died :(
the writer josh schwartz wanted her off! he even said so himself, he wanted a "huge season finale" that would "change the show forever." plus there was no way she could have left unless she paid a HUGE sum of money because all the actors were "contractually bound" to it.

@montseascensioleon13 They kinda had to. Mischa Barton wanted to leave the show to pursue other projects. Which in my opinion was a very bad move. I think if she hadn't left, the show would have lasted longer.

@chakotay24 Plus she basically killed her career by killing Marissa. But she said she wasn't comfortable working there anymore, so I guess she really didn't have any other choice. Still, it was a bad decision.

@montseascensioleon13 I hate just that Ryan would be with Ryan Tyler would just forget Marissa he's so stupid and idot if he just wants to forget Marissa I will never ever forget her it was like her who got OC to be as good as it was and Ryan should still be with Marissa and finally when she died they would have said to each other that they love each other

@montseascensioleon13 It's because the actress felt she was all that and decided not to continue the show. And go on to make a career in film. Sorry, but I think she's a terrible actress. Where is she now? She killed a great show. How does she keep getting work?

@katienich93 yeah I personally don't like season 4 at all. I think they just ran out of story-lines but wanted to keep making money so they just started making up crap. They made a big mistake letting Mischa Barton go and they knew that. I don't even consider season 4 as part of the OC. It should've ended in season 3 instead of having a worthless season. But that's just my opinion

@montseascensioleon13 I'm watching it at the minute and the best part of the whole season is the ring that Seth gives Summer.....not much to go by ! It was the best show ever....up till season 4 , it was one season too far I think !

yeah it belonged to marissas step dad and seths grand dad and i think he died of a heart attack or somethin so it was being sold and marissa was supposed to be goin away with her dad on a yauht (dunno how to spell that :p) so they were sayin good bye to her and then on the way to the airport her ex boyfriend rammed her and ryan off the road and she died :(

the writer josh schwartz wanted her off! he even said so himself, he wanted a "huge season finale" that would "change the show forever." plus there was no way she could have left unless she paid a HUGE sum of money because all the actors were "contractually bound" to it.

The OC is only an over nite flick.. even if Marissa didn't die in tht part, ppl mite get sick of those episodes. it's good tht they cut it off at 4, or else, more losses

She quit because she had gotton a acting role in another show, which i had forgotten the name of but anyways...I was sad when they killed her. Soo sad. They shouldnt have left it at season 4 though.
