  • Windows Starten.

  • why the fuck do people use windows

  • @robzyboy Because some programs simply refuse to work under mac or linux

  • @robzyboy Because Mac sucks, and Linux doesn't have games. And not everyone is proficient in Linux.

  • q2xyt

  • 2 Windows 7's???

  • lol nederlandse windows! @0:08 :p

  • slow

  • My Linux boots in 10 seconds, and there's some 4second wait somewhere that I should be able to remove. :P

  • @superuser6 Yeah but this OS actually does something

  • @Leniaal Well, if you're feeling more productive with having a bunch of background OS tasks running at all times for things one uses maybe once a month then fine :P

  • Windows 7 actually begins starting at 6,9sec counting on the phone

  • u have no icons to load , i have windows 7 pro and i have alot of icons (well i dont know) and it slows it down

  • "windows starten" sounds like something you'd see on cheezburger

  • @SimHarrison Its German for starting or start

  • @computer5892 yeah, i know.

  • This music makes me want to take ecstasy and rub peanut butter all over myself. Oh yeah, and SSDs rule.

  • @Kevin440 LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Worst music on youtube, I bet you still live with your mom!

  • @planetgas troll, haha

  • mine hdd take 10min to enter:D

  • Start your timer from the OS BOOT MENU! then stop it from when you know all the apps have loaded, in my case ATI Catalyst & NIS2011 from then I right click to get an instant response if not it's not ready yet

    !

  • I have been researching ssd's vs mechanical drives for a long time now and what I found is that 15000 rpm drives are now on par with SSD's performance wise. SSD's are still faster but not by much. IMO SSD's fail because of the damn trim feature which (if i understand this correctly) won't allow you to delete data like you can in a mechanical drive otherwise I would have went with an ssd myself. The technology is still too young to be worth the expense. I believe Only Intel has trim feature

  • OMG I HATE WINDOWS

  • come on man... you turned on your counter when bios started posting? what about 3-4 sec before that?...

  • @letalmike Why would he show that? The SSD doesn't start booting until that screen, everything prior to it is just BIOS. And since this is an example of an SSD's boot speed, including the time it takes for the bios to run through is irrelevant.

  • no programs installed :p

  • my pc starts 29 sec with out SSD, But might gonna buy SSD, I got Ultimate version

  • why do you have so many hard drives? professional pirate i guess? :P

  • its crap, rvHoeYNPNjk

  • i got a notebook (dell studio 1747) and i wonder if its worth it buying OCZ vertex 2? i got an i7 720qm is it fast enough or would be vertex 2 waste of moeny?

  • @xxBlackpspxx

    would be a good investment.

makes it a better laptop that responds quickly to your actions. I kinda hate my laptop because it's so damn slow with the standard harddisk.

  • @keldererik yes but im wondering if i should buy such a fast SSD. maybe some intel which does 170MB/read write per second is enough? Because does it also need much CPU power to boot that fast?

  • @xxBlackpspxx id recommend a seagate momentus XT, SSDs are superior but with a laptop youd probably want a combination of speed and capacity.

  • @innie721 capacity doesnt matter since i can put 2 HDDs in my notebook. a question is an operating temperature of over 50-80° okay for an SSD or is it better for an HDD? because in the 2nd hdd slot the temp gets higher than in the other one so i wonder which hdd to put where?

  • @xxBlackpspxx buy it

  • @xxBlackpspxx yes.

  • @Armaangandevia1 Me?

    No.

  • my comp boots in like 5 min until its ready, so when i turn it on in the morning, i can make breakfast and when im finished, the comp is ready, dont need a pc that starts that fast :)

  • LOL 2 Windows 7's

  • you should disable the black windows starting animation, as the ssd is so fast that it has to wait for the animation to finish ^^

  • gay music

  • Love the music!

  • pls the name of the song

  • i bought a ssd instead of a better cpu. since i already had a quad core. i didnt want to waste more money on a better processor to increase performance.

  • my seagate 1.5tb is faster than that 13 secs

  • @skimowhite586

But keep in mind SSD is faster at everyday use. People comfort themselves to feel good about their HDD's saying it boots as fast or faster. I know the difference, and as many reviews have stated, SSD = future.

  • @keldererik mine is fast as hell too yet it seems to me its glitchier and i have ten gigs missing, which is a big deal as mine is only 40 Gb, and Btw ssd = the present, titanium oxide transistor technology = the future ;) so fast theres no need for ram.

  • @keldererik how many gigs does the drive in this video have?

  • @skimowhite586 theres only a few HDD's are faster then SSD's and trust me.. sea gate sure as HELL doesnt have any of them

  • @AppleKidzTechTak yes they do MOMENTENUS X has 8gb of ssd in it to make it faster its like having 8gb of cache cool right oh and the momentinus beat the raptor from wd by a mile your hear me a mile

  • @skimowhite586 8gb of ssd isnt alot...

    os takes up atleast 15gb

  • How the fuck have you gotten 9gigs ram on triple channel. lol

  • why u have 9 hard drive partitions?

  • Nice, SSD is pretty quick, I just did this same test on my non-ssd rig (i7 920 @ 3.6ghz / boot drive is a 500GB WD SATA HD / Win 7 64bit) and it took 56.63 seconds to reach desktop, I started the stop watch from the Choose OS screen (i have XP installed on another partition so i have a dualboot menu) and stopped it after all icons appeared on desktop.

  • mine does 10 seconds on the dot after the bios loads with same Intel ssd. My machine is Intel i7 930@3.8gig with 6 gig of ram, 500 gig wd for storage, gtx 480....the ssd was a last minute decision, and man does it top off an already awesome machine.

  • umm im impressed, liked the vid and all, but @o:20 do you no why the screen read 'Windows starten' i don't think thats what the start up screen is supposed to say.

  • @danieldvs100

'Windows starten' is Dutch for 'Starting Windows' .

  • @keldererik thank-you for informing me, now i know.

  • @keldererik

hmm bei mir steht "Windows wird gestartet" benutzt du Service Pack 1 Beta?

  • @keldererik Dutch = Niederlande

    German passt besser...

  • @keldererik: Not Dutch but German. ;)

  • @Ultrajuiced

?? I'm Dutch :) And so is my Windows version in this video.

  • @keldererik: Okay, but I'm German!

Perhaps it's the same word! ;)

  • @keldererik mooi gedaan Hoeveel heeft dat allemaal gekost en wrm installeer je geen hackintosh )mac os X snow leopard on pc google maar ±P

  • @keldererik Wasn't it something with Rockets?

  • @keldererik

    yes :D

  • @keldererik its also german

  • @keldererik O Realllllly? I thought it meant your mum is a whore

  • @keldererik Could be German.

  • @keldererik

    Or German

  • mine take like 30 secs on my hdd but it has like nothing on it so.

  • Now all you need is a camera that focuses... My phone does a better job.

  • @IAmYourGodAndJesus

I have a dslr now that also shoots 1080p video :P

  • I would say the time Windows takes to boot is actually 17 seconds because bios time is not affected by the OS and the Windows boot menu can be skipped. I think measuring that way helps get rid of differences between different computers and OS's. For anything that uses GrUB, I would start timing when the OS has been picked. I don't do any professional benchmarking, so don't take it as if I were someone that is experienced in doing such things, I just like computers :D

  • not worth it its like 800AUD for 120GB SSD ill rather have a 1TB for 200AUD

  • WTF 2 Windows 7's

  • have you set it all up on msconfig and stuff?

  • Great little drives. I hear the prices are going to fall on a lot of these models around Q4 when the next iteration of drives get rolled out. In any case, I plan on throwing my OS and some frequently used files on my SSD, and tossing everything else on Spinpoint F3's. Can't wait for the UPS man to show up.

  • Lets see should i buy a ssd that will save me 20 sec or one more 5870 hmmm, 5870 wins. If you look at Price+performance+volume the ssd fail.

  • @WARFOX101

an ssd will give a boost on everything you start and load. it's not just booting windows where the gains are. i think another 5870 is a waste of money because there are no games right now that don't run on high with just one 5870.

  • @keldererik Metro 2033....impossible to run on high with all settings at max with only one card.

  • @muttboy34

It does on my 280gtx, depends what you call high, if AA counts that is correct, otherwise it runs fine on a 280, let alone a 480. If you call all high the highest resolution possible on monitors, like tripple display 7680 x 1600 (3 x 30 inchers), then you need more cards. I don't recommend crossfire or sli, google the phenomenon 'microstuttering'. Bliss is ignorance, because when you see it you want to run single card again. This microstuttering appears in maxishines videos aswell.

  • @keldererik: multiple GPUs are not a waste as long as you realize that in the world exist multi-monitor configurations. You're right just for the single-monitor world, but there are people who plays with 2 or more 30 inches monitor. That's the reason for having multi-GPU configurations.

  • @WARFOX101 Human eye cannot see over 30 FPS, , by getting a good GPU that will run your games at 100+ FPS is more pointless than getting the SSD.

Believe me, the SSD will have more positive impression on you than GPU

  • @bigdima3 You sure about the 30fps?

Cause i can CLEARLY see the difference when i got my capture card on 60fps vs 30fps when viewing my xbox to my computer....

Also when going form RCA (30fps) and then to HDMI (60fps) to TV i can see the difference in smoothness...

  • @viper19861986 How about other factors such as

Monitor refresh rate. Its a fact that 120Hz monitor shows smooth images at 30fp than 60Hz monitor at 30FPs. Analog televisions such as NTSC and PAL have framerate conversion of LESS than 30FPS, have you seen TV channels being slow ?!

  • @WARFOX101

You DO realize there's more to a SSD drive then boot time, correct? You have zero experience with them. If you're too lazy to read the write-ups on them, probably best just not to comment.

  • @opmike343 Im a benchmarker, benchmarking a ssd is about exciting as watching my sisters kids. getting a ssd at the price they are today is pointless. By the way i have built plenty of pc for clients with ssd, for a standard home PC its not worth spending the $. I agree ssd are great they are reliable faster In every way than a Sata HD. With that said, when i buy a HD i look at price per performance per volume. Right now ssd is not a wise choice for a standard home user. My opnion with respect.

  • @WARFOX101 a 30gb ssd to boot windows off of is £80, a 5870 is £400, they're not even comparable, not unless you go for a 250gb one, which just make you stupid, you dont need more than 50gb, and you can get a ocz vertex 2 for £120 at 60gb

  • @camdened123456 well, not if plan to game. if like 30% of your hard drive is for games what will you have left for media?

  • why is there two windows 7 0:10?

  • 23-7 = 16 seconds. Cool.

  • utrrurtigrhutrtrhtrehtdiugd

    uhduugsfusgurig

    rftseter

    esgdjdjfhgdhgfdfushfuisffhd

  • @BlooperBG i feel you

  • Hey man, I don't think you have enough harddrives/partitions.

  • lol? WTF 2 boot in 2 Windows 7? 0:08 lol

  • @Eragon86micky i think it's because one of them is the RTM Version and the other one is possibly the Release Candidate

  • dude, ur not suppos to time the bios...

  • Think you have enough hard drives?

  • could anybody tell me what song is in this video ? :)

  • @JanyPL Hey, so what should we read about hard drives that would lead us to think that SSDs are crap? SSDs pwn hard drives with performance (including the 15k.7 Cheetah), and reliability is really good, with ECC on some at least and also wear leveling on all modern ones.

Capacity and cost r the only reasons not to replace and HDD with an SSD.

    ..You troll.

  • @keldererik yea, a typical hard drive is more like 20MB/s when randomly accessing data (doing more than 1 task at once) vs your 500MB/s with your SSD. You must be running RAID 0 or 5

  • @keldererik What language is your Windows 7 Set in. it looks like German or Dutch.

  • Ubuntu takes about 10-15 seconds to boot if you start counting after bios. :P

  • that's very fast!!!

  • @keldererik Don't be trollin tha troll! BTW, he's right. You started the timer too early. You don't start it until you selected the os to boot.

  • That's so sweet. I just ordered myself the same SSD! We have very similar rig set ups. Great video by the way.

  • Should I buy this ssd now or wait to winter when the g3 comes out?

  • Should I buy this ssd or wait for the g3 that comes out in winter ?

  • @elvin149 Well, the sandforce drives kick the Intel MLC drives, they are basically as fast as the X25-E! About $300 for the 100/128GB version of the vertex 2 sandforce drive .... I myself am going to try and wait for Intel G3 to come around so that prices will drop all across the board! look up "intel ssd roadmap" on google. 600GB!

Who knows if there new drive will be faster than the sandforce controller..

  • my pc boots in 28 seconds and thats only on a sata drive so not that much impressed

  • when windows completes the graphical boot, it is not a fully booted. you have to wait for other services to complete. try ubuntu and you will see what i mean.

  • @keldererik

My bad spelling, I used to work with solid state hdd's in laptop's and PC's when i used to work for the MOD

  • I totally Agree with KD , Fine if you have the money to spend why not but overall they are not worth the everyday use of a computer.

My computer boots up in 40secs and that is enough time for me to make a cuppa...and sit back down.

  • @corps3y

Not only booting the OS but also other things make it worth the price:

Boot programs. Extract large compressed files. Compress files. Save files and open files.

Other than that, they are completely silent and more reliable.

You only realise this when you have an SSD. You will understand how much time you have been waiting for your slow harddisk to accomplish tasks like above.

  • @keldererik

To be Honest everyone would love one but like i said for everyday home use not really worth it...I used to work the Solid state hard-drives and they didnt impress me much

  • @corps3y

Load of crap. Go sell that shit to someone else. If you own one you are not trading it for a slow ass harddrive. Or maybe you owned one with the famous shitty JMicron controller.

  • Comment removed

  • @corps3y well, my pc is kinda slow, while the rig is awesome, so it's clear that the hard drive is the bottleneck. I buy a SSD to make it fast :)

  • @keldererik Everything is right but the more reliable part. They have a bad habit of breaking, but as long as your not a moron and buy them at best buy, most come with a pretty well extended warranty. Completely worth the price, but definately not something for people who do nothing with their computer but get on the internet.

  • Ziet er goed uit. Ik zag dat je Nederlands was.

  • for extra 20sec I rather keep using a sata drive and save £300

  • @kd84afc

Check some benchmarks on programs. Good luck with your peanut brain and stone age pc :D

  • savage tune :)

  • Damn you have many harddisks!

  • my windows xp starts with the bioschecks from start to the Desktop in 45 secs. after the Bios until desk 25 secs without an ssd ^^

  • @Kurdestar nice.

I wonder what an ssd would do on windows xp.

  • @keldererik The pc would start in 25 secs i think if you get a nice board with the SSD

  • SSD+Win7 = FTW

  • Ubuntu took only 7 secs. WinFail.

  • @liidze Ubunti =! Windows 7

Good luck gaming on Ubuntu. You fail to see it's purpose.

  • Comment removed

  • @liidze You are comparing two operating systems that targets different kind of users and has different purposes. Fuck off with your system performance smartass talk you know exactly what I meant.

  • @keldererik No, I do not know what you mean. Other than gaming, I honestly can't see the purpose of windows anymore. It seems that the only people who would want to use it, are people who don't give a shit about security, reliability, speed and just overall performance. And that's okay, I guess, but it still really bothers me that so many people don't care about the quality of their purchased products.

  • @RatsBoulevard It bothers me that you are a Windows basher. Maybe the reliability part is your own user error. I'm using it without problems since beta. Ofcourse it takes longer to boot, it offers more without the need of a CLI for every god damn interaction.

  • @liidze You idiot!

Ubuntu = No games like ".exe" FAIL!

    Win7 rulez

  • @liidze Ubuntu is not better than windows because wich games can you play good with ubuntu. And the Design from XP vista and Se7en is great (i think)

  • I think the boot time isn't better a lot than on my x25-v 40gb, this can be improved by system tweaks but x25-m 80gb is ofcourse faster in applications with higher requirements ;) i suppose the song is "the pride in your eyes"

  • what is the name of this song?

  • man where is the time from Bios boot????? you can add 10 more sec than have you got 34 and that time can you have also with an HDD boot man

  • @KingFerdnando

Since when has a bios boot to do with loading files from an SSD? idiot.

  • no offence but...is that computer clean? is it just intalled windows 7. if it was. it sould be much faster than that.

  • music sucks, your mobile rocks. your ssd too. :)

  • This seems slow to me. Mine goes to desktop the moment my splash screen is done (haven't tried with splash screen disabled). I literally never see the welcome screen. I use a Kingston SSD at the moment but am going to get an Intel X25 tomorrow, which is why I'm watching this. Oh well, I'll see how it does tomorrow!

  • The computer is still loading after you stop the timer :P

  • Sweet Rig bro.

  • you can minus about 6 second off. I start counting after I click the windows 7 at the boot screen.

    Amazing!!

  • my iMac has a 1 TB 7200rpm hdd and boots in 25 seconds. and that is from pushing the power button to actually be able to use the computer. but for windows I guess this time is great :D

  • freakin fast

  • lol why do u need 9 harddrives

  • @tucker123454 uh.

you do know what a partition is right?

  • @HandyMan101 didnt know it came up as that.

  • thats so shit wot a wast a money ha ha i have a WD VR 1000RPM and get 29 seconds lol

  • @keldererik What to you store on them, they look used in Computer overview??????

  • I store the OS, programs and few games on them.

  • @lewisthemouth Dude you suck. SSD > HDD by far.

  • @lewisthemouth SSD drives makes raptor drives looking slow

  • hello that music is the one ringing

  • duude, the boot only counts after the bios, you cant count with the bios.

  • exactly :) I have not done that :(

  • Windows Starten... lol

  • why not get ultimate???

  • @gongy1returns because professional can download the 2 missing features ultimate have...

  • @MrChezco1995 cool like what?

  • @Masterke85 BitLocker and multi-language.that's the 2 missing features of win7pro

  • @MrChezco1995 ok cool never gone use that :D

  • WINDOWS IS STARTEN' UPP

  • YOU BETTER WATCH YERSELF, CUZ WINDOWS IS STARTERN UP!

lmao I thought that too :P

  • @super6plx xD

  • Post a video and I might believe you.

  • LOL

    I love the Welcome Screen

And its just loaded right there and then. Cool stuff [:
